yeah the Vikings do some weird stuff i'm expecting Major improvement from Garett Bradbury,I just keep waiting for them to take the next step up again it's like watching the Bengals good but not great and i would not be surprised if the Bengals beat the sh*t out of them cause Zimmer most likely will get out coached....Man I'm so tired anyway GO VIKINGS!

    Vikings sign fourth-rounder Janarius Robinson

Defensive end Janarius Robinson is the latest Vikings draft pick to sign his rookie deal with the team.

Robinson was a fourth-round pick and he signed a four-year contract to kick off his NFL career. The Vikings have now signed seven of their 11 selections from this year’s draft.

Robinson had 104 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries over four seasons at Florida State.

The Vikings also added linebacker Chazz Surratt, defensive end Patrick Jones, cornerback Camryn Bynum, and defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman to their defense in the draft. Surratt, Jones, quarterback Kellen Mond, and guard Wyatt Davis still have to sign their contracts.

CB Bashaud Breeland visits with Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings may need more cornerback depth after trading Mike Hughes to the Kansas City Chiefs.

A former Chiefs corner might be a good option for them in 2021. Per The Athletic’s Nate Taylor, Bashaud Breeland took a visit with the Vikings at their training facility on Thursday.

Breeland earned a PFF grade of 67.7 this past season. He had 9 passes defended and two interceptions. Breeland has also remained healthy when playing for Kansas City, starting 26-of-27 games in his last two seasons for the team.

I think Breeland would be a fine addition to a Vikings cornerback room that is already solidified at the starting positions. He might be a good option as the first guy off the bench. Cameron Dantzler dealt with injuries in his rookie season. If Dantzler, Patrick Peterson or Mackensie Alexander suffered an injury, the cornerback group gets a lot worse. Breeland would help with that.

Anthony Barr took pay cut so injury wasn’t his last memory of Minnesota

Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr‘s 2020 season ended after only 94 defensive snaps. He tore his right pectoral muscle while tackling Colts running back Jonathan Taylor in Week 2.

That would have served as his final play as a Viking after seven seasons and four Pro Bowls if Barr hadn’t agreed to a pay cut.

“I kind of didn’t want to go out like that,” Barr told reporters Wednesday in his first interview since before the injury, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I didn’t want my last game being the one in which I got hurt and then missing an entire year. I didn’t want that to be my last memory as a Minnesota Viking, so that played a big factor in returning and taking the pay cut to be back.”

Barr, 29, agreed to have his $12.9 million salary reduced to $10 million for this season, per Tomasson, but the final two years of Barr’s contract were voided. That means he is scheduled to become a free agent in 2022.

“[The injury] would be a pretty sour note to end on, and with all the great memories I have, I think that one would be the most lasting,” Barr said. “So, I tried to put that in the back seat and move forward and look forward to a healthier and productive season.”

Vikings’ Cameron Smith feels he hasn’t missed a beat in return from open-heart surgery

Plenty of players taking part in this week’s organized team activities around the league are returning from season-ending surgeries, but Vikings linebacker Cameron Smith still stands out.

Smith had open-heart surgery last August to correct a congenital heart defect that doctors discovered while doing tests on Smith after he tested positive for COVID-19. Smith notes “how weird it it is to say Covid essentially saved my life,” but the surgery did keep him from playing at all last year.

The Vikings kept Smith in the organization and he said this week that being around his teammates “kept me mentally sane” while he recovered from the surgery. Smith returned to the field for this week’s OTAs and he said he felt like he picked up where he left off.

“It was interesting because leading up to this, I was unsure what the feeling was going to be like,” Smith said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I was excited to feel that again, but when it came down to running out there, it felt like I hadn’t missed a beat. It just felt like almost home again.”

Smith was a fifth-round choice in 2019 and had eight tackles in five games during his rookie season.

Patrick Peterson has Week 2 Vikings-Cardinals game circled on his calendar

Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson is eager to show the Cardinals he still has plenty left in the tank.

Peterson, who signed with the Vikings this offseason after 10 yers with the Cardinals, said on his podcast that he’s already feeling excited about the Vikings-Cardinals game in Arizona in Week Two.

“The division games are going to be always a dogfight, you know what I mean” Peterson said, via the Arizona Republic, “but the one I circled is definitely Week 2, that’s not even close. That’s not even close.”

Peterson may be emotional about that game, but he added that he won’t let his emotions get the best of him during the game.

“I’m going to be juiced up going into that week, or whatever, but as far as once that game gets going, I’m going to be cool, calm, and collected because that’s when I’m at my best,” he said. “Like I said, I’m looking forward to that Week 2 matchup. Like J. Cole said, man, Applying Pressure, man, I can’t wait to show up and do what I do in they face. I can’t wait for that, to do what I do.”

    Broncos, Vikings plan joint practices

The Broncos and Vikings are the latest teams to agree to a summer get-together.

Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver reports that the two teams are finalizing plans to hold joint practices in Minnesota before they meet in their first preseason game on August 14.

Teams often practice together with preseason opponents, and the Vikings and Broncos have an obvious connection as new Broncos General Manager George Paton spent the last 14 years in Minnesota.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio has emphasized that quarterbacks Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will be competing each day through training camp and the preseason, and seeing how they operate against an opposing team’s defense will be of particular interest.

Not a fan of joint practices. Too many things can go wrong and in my opinion, it increases injury risk.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has liked what he’s seen from first-round pick Christian Darrisaw. But the offensive tackle won’t be on the field for Wednesday’s OTA practice.

Zimmer said Wednesday morning that Darrisaw has “a little groin pull” and would likely be held out of the session.

But otherwise the reviews for the 23rd overall pick have been positive.

“Darrisaw, obviously, is very talented,” Zimmer said in his press conference. “He’s done a nice job. He’s worked real hard. He’s been very attentive.”

Darrisaw is likely to be the Vikings’ starting left tackle in the upcoming season. Minnesota drafted him after cutting Riley Reiff earlier in the offseason.
