I'm not a huge Cooper fan, as you already know, but he's a great pick in the 7th and I'm glad you're excited about it.
Aaaah...Unfortunately gentleman I won't be able to participate. Got a medical thing tomorrow at 9AM...Likely won't be available until the afternoon, but I'll see what I can come away with after the melee....Good luck, and thanks for letting me participate in another great draft.
Indeed, that's another factor. At least in theory, next year's class should be better than this year's draft class. No one lost eligibility, but most prospects lost playing time due to canceled games or conferences rescheduling their seasons to spring (which knocked their teams out of non-conference games, shortening their seasons). That creates not only uncertainty for this year, but also an extra factor to push a lot of players to return to school for the 2021 season and get a better chance to show their stuff. Side note: the best example I can think of where a real life team "opted out" as you say was Belichick in 2007. He openly said he thought the 2007 class wasn't so hot and that he wanted to trade out of it as much as he could. He had an extra first rounder, which he used. But he traded his own first round and third round picks out to the following year and traded 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th round picks for players. How did it turn out? That was the year New England went 16-0. The future first rounder became the #7 overall, and it was even more important because the Patriots forfeited their own first rounder (#31) from the videotaping scandal.

Bills 1(30) Tyson Campbell, CB - Georgia 3(13) Baron Browning, LB - Ohio State 3(29) Tylan Wallace, WR - Oklahoma State 4(3) Patrick Jones, DE - Pittsburgh 5(17) Jay Tufele, DT - USC 5(30) Tay Gowan, CB - UCF 6(1) Tutu Atwell, WR - Louisville 7(8) Kylen Granson, TE/FB - SMU The Bills have no glaring needs but there are a couple positions they could really use depth and competition. At 30 I was really torn between Tyson Campbell and Asante Samuel Jr. but I went with the guy with the higher ceiling in Campbell because of that and he seems like the best scheme fit as a future #2 opposite White. Levi Wallace should be able to hold on in the meantime but corner was the biggest need. I traded back in the 2nd because Dan wanted me to try and trade back early to get some more picks. Luckily enough Browning was still there. LB is not a big need but Browning should immediately improve the front 7 and he is versatile as he can line up anywhere but the interior line. Tylan Wallace is a weapon for Josh Allen. John Brown is gone but Beasley, Diggs, Gabriel Davis and now Wallace should be a nice complement of weapons. At the very least he should stretch the field. If CB was the biggest need then defensive line is the next biggest. While there is no urgency an edge was needed that could contribute early and that's where Patrick Jones comes into play. Hoping to get him at this point was what allowed me to take Browning earlier. And while the interior should be much improved with Star Lotulelei returning after opting out of last season, fresh blood was needed for depth and that's where Tufele comes into play. Gowan was a value pick in a position that honestly doesn't inspire me after the first few rounds but he is an exception. Bills need more CB depth so a 2nd one drafted felt needed. Tutu Atwell was another value pick in my mind. Josh Allen probably has enough weapons already but Atwell brings tools that no one else on the team has and he should find himself with some key plays designed just for him. I don't understand the Round 1-2 love he was getting as little as a month ago but I'll take him all day in the 6th. Finally I took Kylen Granson because the Bills could use another TE that can play the FB role. Granson seemed like the best of the bunch so I grabbed him. All in all one thing I could say is that this felt like a very Buffalo Bills draft.
Obviously I love trading down and still getting Browning. Wallace and Granson on that offense could be really interesting too. And... Daniel Jeremiah agrees that Tutu is a steal in the 6th...
Saints 1(4) Trey Lance, QB - North Dakota State 2(25) Aaron Robinson, CB - UCF 3(39) Chazz Surratt, LB - North Carolina 4(36) Andre Cisco, S - Syracuse 6(43) Tedarrell Slaton, DT - Florida 7(1) Marquez Stevenson, WR - Houston 7(10) Jake Curhan, OL - California I traded up for Trey Lance because I simply wanted to if given the chance. I was hoping for Lance over Fields but would take either. Fuck Winston. Hill is cool though. However the time is shared there shouldn't be an issue because of how Hill was used previously. Ideally Lance sits back a year but if he needs to go in then so be it. I traded up a few spots because I wanted a CB and when all my options but Robinson went off the board I felt I had to make a move. I'm getting lazy so I'll keep it concise, lol. QB, corner and linebacker are the biggest needs and Surratt fell into my lap so I was grateful, especially after trading back in order to move up for Robinson. Cisco is an underrated safety that I think could see meaningful snaps year 1. Slaton and Stevenson are depth pieces I personally like a lot and I finally I figured I should grab an offensive lineman and Curhan was probably the last guy available I had a draftable grade on. He looks like he can become a solid guard and perhaps fill in at right tackle. My goal was to fill holes, try to get that #1 QB if possible, and ideally make picks that felt very much like the Saints. I felt I did that.
With The Final Pick of the 2021 NFL Draft The Philadelphia Eagles Select Mr. Irrelevant John Bates, TE - Boise State
I had Bates' name written in with a photo and everything at pick 6(5) but then I remembered Caden Sterns was on the board still. In between 8 damn TEs went and I knew that all my backup options for this pick or UDFA were gone. Thankfully option #1 was still there.
I feel like we had a great push today to finish up. As always, this was a fun draft. It was definitely different running 2 teams instead of just worrying about the 1, but it made me look at even more potential prospects. Thanks again @RTTRUTH and @LAOJoe for running this show again. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into this and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
