While we have a lull I'll recap the Titans' draft class: -Greg Newsome II, CB, NW -Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue -Jaylen Twyman, DL, Pitt -Hamsah Nasirildeen, S, FSU I think we made a lot of strides on defense which is good as ours took a step back last year and we let our top two corners go as well. Two guys I picked are undersized and two are physical specimens, but I think all can be explosive difference makers. I'm happy with how my class is shaping up overall. Edit: Forgot to mention all are regarded as great guys and hard workers which fits team culture and will be a nice change after the Wilson debacle.
He was my target safety in the GMO draft for exactly those reasons. Perfect as a "tweener" type for a cover three or as a "big nickel" or dime back.
I'll check in periodically since I'm working tonight, but I have a feeling we're pretty much done until morning, either now or at most three more picks.
Ike will probably hold us up again. I sent a pick for Houston to RT in case I fall asleep and then my pick comes up.
I haven’t had a pick sniped yet. Makes me wonder if I’m picking players too high? I know every time I look at the ratings I’m using it seems like I’m getting a player at a good value
You all are a knowledgeable sort so I will pose a question. There is noise coming from NJ that the Giants may trade down. Anyone who can read the between the lines on Getty speak knows this means he is currently trying to work out a deal to trade up for a run stuffing DT. Daniel Jeramiah today said that he would see a right turn in Nascar before he sees Dave Gettleman trade down because he has never done it. I am with DJ here I don't think it's in his makeup to be patient and play the draft. He falls hard and does what is required to get his guy. But it made me wonder... Is Gettleman an outlier here or is the media picking on him because he makes it so damn easy to do? So two questions 1) Does anyone know if there is a resource that would track this sort of craziness? Draft trades by team or anything? 2) The teams that you follow -- what is their tendency? Stay put? Make a bunch of trades? Move up and lot or move down a lot? The Giants have done things the George Young way since the league basically forced them to hire the guy. His replacement (Acorsi) basically kept the system the same, then Accorsi hand picked his successor, and then after he was fired Accorsi was a consultant and hired the guy he passed on the first time. They to this day have rigid H/W/S markers for positions and are rarely involved in major trades -- when they are it's almost always a trade up. I know teams like the Ravens and Pats tend to trade down and move around a lot. But I don't really have a sense of what most teams are like in this regard...
I can't think of a good resource for tracking that sort of thing. Sorry. Wikipedia might track trades by year, if you had the time to go back year by year and take notes on each team. Speaking for the Colts, since hiring Chris Ballard we've been willing to trade both up and down. Although as it pertains to the first round we've frequently traded back to add draft ammo (See Jets taking Darnold, and following year). I believe we've traded up occasionally before Ballard's arrival but looking back nothing substantial in the first round. We've usually stood firm and just drafted from our slot.
