Do you see any argument for his getting in because of his playoff production?

It's something I have seen mentioned a few times this morning.

I see the argument, but I don’t really support it. He was tough as a $2 steak and made a lot of their most important plays in the 14-18 run, but I also see his placement among post-season stat leaders as heavily a function of opportunity most other receivers never had.

I'm going to guess that Welker's playoff numbers are likely similar to Edelman's.

I don't see an argument for him to get in for his post-season play either.

    Cardinals sign James Conner

Yesterday James Conner visited Arizona and today he decided to stay.

The Cardinals are signing Conner, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports.

Conner has played his entire four-year career with the Steelers. Last year he carried 169 times for 721 yards and added 35 catches for 215 yards.

Arizona was looking to add a running back after last year’s leading rusher, Kenyan Drake, left in free agency. Conner joins a running back depth chart that includes Chase Edmonds, Eno Benjamin, Jonathan Ward and Khalfani Muhammad. Conner had toe surgery this offseason but is expected to be fully recovered in plenty of time to participate in training camp.

The Cardinals have been active in adding well-known veteran players to the roster this offseason. Conner joins a list of new Cardinals that also includes defensive end J.J. Watt, wide receiver A.J. Green, cornerback Malcolm Butler, kicker Matt Prater, safety Shawn Williams, guard Brian Winters and center Rodney Hudson.

At the very least ya gotta put Hines Ward in first if you’re giving extra weight to post-season play.

There are at least 6 other players from the dynasty Pats I’d put in before giving Jules any consideration whatsoever (that’s aside from the obvious two that are lead pipe locks and excluding Moss).

NOPE I disagree...........Dawg (Browns) and Bum (Steelers) are Natural Rivals.....and they get along just fine.

Sure they Disagree to Agree.........BUT don't we ALL.

Look at me and Chicago Bear fans......I told them to stop Dumping on their team when the Titans beat them and Jezz I felt Da Bear Wrath.

But Who Cares........it's Opinion Board and you just have to brush off the Negative Comments.

I hope you stay because I like talking Hockey with you......Go Canucks Go

We’ll see but I have my doubts. He looked and sounded an awful lot like a guy who knew his body can’t do it anymore in his announcement video. And the reason the Pats failed him on a physical and cut him was so he could qualify for a $2M payment from the Players Association...I don’t think they would’ve done that for him if they thought there was a chance he might run to Pats South.

It's the same as watching Cody Kessler, if that says anything.

I agree with all of that Will, with the only add that you also need your team to believe in you and give you an actual friggin chance. Bridgewater has never really had that. The Vikings were in a tough position with him after that horror injury but since then he hasnt been able to get a sustained chance.

Bridgewater has limits its true, but his numbers were largely pretty good, and there were plenty of extenuating circumstances. Having to play virtually a whole season without McCaffery was just a huge loss for that entire Offense in multiple ways. Zero question that negatively impacted Bridgewater. He also played behind a sub standard O-Line. I think the Panthers OL were top10 in the league last year for sacks allowed? They currently have a big hole at LT and their only real FA pickup was Pat Elfein to start at G, who we will both know from his time at the Vikings, sucks! The OL is something Darnold is going to have to contend with now...

Prior to the trade i saw plenty of mocks with the Panthers going either QB or Defense. But now i really wonder if the pick needs to be a guy like Rashawn Slater. A trade back and LT may be the A+ move for them.

The meeting between Jadeveon Clowney and the Browns had to be pushed from Monday to Wednesday. But apparently it still went well.

According to several reports, Cleveland is signing Clowney to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million.

Clowney will join a defensive line anchored by defensive end 2017 No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett, who has recorded at least 10.0 sacks in each of the last three seasons. Also a former No. 1 overall pick, Clowney spent the 2020 season with the Titans where he started eight games before a knee injury sidelined him for the rest of the year. Clowney recorded four tackles for loss, six QB hits, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble for Tennessee.

In 83 career games for the Texans, Seahawks, and Titans, Clowney has 32.0 sacks, 75 tackles for loss, and 86 QB hits. He recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2017 with Houston, earning one of his three Pro Bowl appearances.

Clowney is the latest offseason addition to Cleveland’s defense, which already brought in safety John Johnson, defensive end Takk McKinley, cornerback Troy Hill, and linebacker Anthony Walker.

I've never seen a player's inability to get to the QB before the ball is out so highly touted.

Seahawks agree to terms with Aldon Smith

Aldon Smith has found a new home.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport report Smith has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Seahawks. Smith was reportedly visiting with Seattle on Wednesday.

After missing four full seasons due to suspensions, Smith returned to the league in 2020 and started all 16 games for the Cowboys. He picked up 5.0 sacks, five tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits while playing 73 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

Smith’s best game in 2020 came against the Seahawks in Week 3, when he recorded 3.0 sacks and a pair of tackles for loss. He did not record a sack after Week 8, when he brought down Carson Wentz in Dallas’ loss to Philadelphia.

Rapoport also reports the Seahawks tried to trade for Smith last season. But now they have him on the squad.

Smith was the 49ers’ seventh overall pick in the 2011 draft and recorded 33.5 sacks in his first two seasons. But a series of off-field issues derailed his career before he was reinstated last year.

Falcons, Cordarrelle Patterson agree to deal

Cordarrelle Patterson‘s next stop will be in Atlanta.

Patterson and the Falcons have agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The 30-year-old Patterson has played the last two years in Chicago and previously had stints with the Patriots, Raiders and Vikings.

Originally a first-round pick in Minnesota in 2013, Patterson never became the elite receiver the Vikings hoped he would be, but he’s a versatile player who can line up at both receiver and running back and is also one of the best kickoff returners in NFL history.

Last year in Chicago, Patterson had 21 catches for 132 yards, 64 carries for 232 yards and 35 kickoff returns for a league-leading 1,017 yards.

Rule change expanding role for replay official is expected to pass

The NFL won’t be adding a booth umpire to officiating crews this year, but there is expected to be a change to the rules governing the role of the existing replay official.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that NFL owners are expected to approve the Competition Committee’s proposal to expand that role when they vote on it next week. That proposal was originally made alongside one from the Ravens to add an eighth official watching the game in the booth without adding to the replay official’s responsibilities, but that has now been withdrawn.

The proposal would allow replay officials to “advise the game officials on specific, objective aspects of a play when clear and obvious video evidence is present and/or to address game administration issues” outside of a replay review situation.

Those issues include, but are not limited to, possession, whether a pass is complete, the location of the ball, and whether a player is down by contact. The replay official would not be allowed to call a penalty or pick up a flag thrown by an on-field official.

Baltimore’s proposal would have gone further, but the league isn’t going to be taking that step in 2021.

Bears sign Marquise Goodwin to a one-year deal

Marquise Goodwin intends to play in 2021, and he has found a place to play in 2021.

The receiver signed a one-year contract with the Bears, the team announced Friday night.

The 49ers traded Goodwin to the Eagles during the 2020 draft weekend, but Goodwin opted out of the 2020 season over COVID-19 concerns. Due to the conditions of the trade, Goodwin’s rights reverted back to the 49ers last month.

San Francisco cut Goodwin, making him a free agent.

Goodwin, 30, spent three seasons with the 49ers after four with the Bills. He has 140 catches for 2,323 yards and 13 touchdowns since the Bills made him a third-round choice in 2013.
