    That was a rant?

There's a lot in there. But I'll try to answer a few. Hopefully you can tie the answer to the question:

    1) The suggestion that they would go ten years at the bottom of the division is just anti-Steeler babble and it's not the first time you've gone down that road. You've been predicting their downfall literally since the first time I met you in 2008. Successful NFL franchises start at the top and the Steelers just simply know how to put a competitive team on the field. There's no one better. And they're gonna forget how to do that all of a sudden?

    2) The Browns were an improved team last year. Awesome. What does that mean for 2021? Jack shit. Every year is a new season. We see it over and over again. The most flawed thought process among NFL fan bases is that their team will only get better year in and year out. Just like in 2019 when they were the off-season darlings of the NFL the Browns are officially on everyone's radar again. Let's see how they do.

    3) You need to dig a little deeper into the Steelers roster. You clearly don't know much about their personnel. They've drafted pretty damn well over the last 4 seasons.

    4) TJ isn't going anywhere.

I listen to you guys bang your chest every year and I enjoy it. Why wouldn't you? But when you make a statement that is so counter to the standard we've all watched for the last 50 years it needs to be called out.

Yes. A rant is not defined by its length, but by its content.

You are now making this an insipid rant.

Report: 49ers, Seahawks pursued Giovani Bernard before deal with Buccaneers

Before running back Giovani Bernard reached a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was also pursued by the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

Bernard was released by the Cincinnati Bengals last week after eight seasons with the team. He reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Buccaneers on Monday.

The 49ers would presumably be looking for additional depth behind Raheem Mostert as Tevin Coleman signed with the New York Jets this offseason and Jerick McKinnon remains a free agent. Jeff Wilson Jr. remains on the roster as the backup currently with JaMycal Hasty and Austin Walter as depth options.

The Seahawks re-signed Chris Carson to a two-year deal this offseason and former first-round pick Rashaad Penny returns after missing most of last season while recovering from a torn ACL. Former draft picks Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas remain on the roster and Alex Collins was re-signed this offseason as well. Their interest in another running back would seemingly convey a lack of total trust in the options behind Carson, or at the very least a player to fill a specific role they feel is lacking in their other options currently.

The report notes that Bernard heard from Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson about joining the team in Seattle, which would be another indication Carroll and Wilson have fully committed to their relationship together continuing for at least one more season as well.

Is Julian Edelman a Hall of Famer?

Edelman won three Super Bowls, was named MVP in one of them and ranks only behind Jerry Rice in postseason receiving yards. Our analysts are split on whether or not the longtime Patriots WR will be voted into Canton.

You should probably look up the definition of rant. I preferred the short response. Irish asked for more detail so I obliged. Neither of us need a referee. We've been doing this awhile.

You should look it up. Your response was extravagantly ridiculous.

If you have nothing to add, then shut the fuck up.

Hey Dan take a chill pill. You inserted yourself unnecessarily in a conversation between two friends and now you're making it worse. Go bother someone else.

This, since you do not seem to grasp the simplicity of it, this is an OPEN forum.

What you wrote (to my friend, too) was ridiculous. I actually waited for another response before challenging you. It is clear that your initial comment was not taken as friendly banter; nor was it smack talk.

It was a poorly framed statement built upon a false premise.

I do not need to chill. But I will maintain my right to comment to whatever I choose to here.

I don’t think attempting to explain to someone how an open forum works after telling them to shut the fuck up really accomplishes much, so how about we just skip to the part where I remind everyone that this is Will’s thread, he puts an insane amount of time into it, and it’s one of my favorites on the site.

    Moving on...

Really mature take from a 23 year old kid dealing with a magnified media light.

Teddy Bridgewater's contract guarantee goes from $10 million to $17 million if he's on Carolina's Week 1 roster.

Probably the most likely passer to be moved on draft day.

If I were putting a line on it, I’d set the over/under at the top of the 5th.

The Bridgewater situation is kinda unique... Ive wondered if letting him go from Minnesota was a smart move, but there may be something to this guy that we as fans cant see or he just might be a slightly better than average QB and 'average' doesnt cut the mustard in todays NFL.

Hope he finds a good fit somewhere... I personally think he can lead a football team if given the right conditions. He can hit targets for a good completion percentage, but I guess you need more than that these days, including some luck and the right coach's and circummstances.

Watching some Sam Darnold press releases, it seems he was definitely hurt/surprised a bit when he got traded or heard of trade talks initially. I would be too, i think.

The point I want to make is this and Tim eluded to it already, but Sam showed a lot of class. He was humbled and dealt with it superbly. Now, he's someone im rooting for to take it up a notch and show the NY peeps they made a mistake, lol. Im pulling for him to succeed, not just out of spite for NY, but because he seemed classy.

I don't think that is unique to this generation of teams. I personally think we see so many "busts" over the years that are more team circumstance driven than individual talent. Teams that expect a player to change a franchise, rather than a team prepared to train and make players better are destined to fail. It isn't the players job to make a team better, it's a team's job to make players better. I think that is lost on a lot of coaching staffs.

I will give one example of this.. Bill Callahan. He is a coach that strives on making WHOEVER is placed in front of him, the best offensive lineman they can be according to their skillset. He isn't constantly demanding you have 5 of the top ten linemen in the NFL in order to have a top ten offensive line. He takes what he is given and he turns them into a top 5 offensive line. It happens everywhere he goes. I don't know how or why teams ever let this guy get away. He isn't a great offensive coordinator and an even worse head coach, but I'll be damned if he doesn't know how to coach offensive line. He will make every player in that room exceed expectations. THAT is what a coach is supposed to do.

Teddy was always going to need to find an offense that would let him sit in the pocket, sling short to medium passes, and base those routes more off of timing/route running than throwing darts at targets. He doesn't have the arm strength necessary to take over games, but he had a chance to be a field general in an offense that catered to his strengths and hid his lack of zip.

Post-injury Bridgewater appears to have less arm pop than the pre-injury version, and as time wears on he is going to lose more and more.

The only way I see him getting another shot at starting is by replacing an injured starter.

So first you tell me to shut the fuck up then you get on a soapbox about your right to comment in an open forum?

    You're a bright one.

p.s. Unlike you I never suggested you shouldn't post. Just thought you should tone it down. Do whatever you like. Everytime you comment you look worse.

  20. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

Love Jules. Made some amazing plays at the most significant moments and his post-season accomplishments are nearly unparalleled. But no, he’s not a HOF’er. Too many players better than him that aren’t in. Shit there are two or three Patriots WR’s alone I could probably make a stronger case for than Edelman. Great player, but no the only way he gets to Canton is buying a ticket. Or if Tom picks him to give his induction.
