    Eagles signing Eric Wilson

The Eagles are adding a linebacker.

Philadelphia is signing Eric Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo.

Wilson entered the league as an undrafted free agent and spent the first four years of his career with the Vikings. He was elevated to a full-time starter in 2020, playing 96 percent of Minnesota’s defensive snaps. Wilson finished the year with 122 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three interceptions, eight passes defensed, and 3.0 sacks.

Wilson has appeared in all 64 games for which he’s been eligible since 2017. He played the majority of special teams snaps from 2017-2019 with Minnesota, also serving as a spot starter on defense. In all, Wilson has 8.0 career sacks, 18 tackles for loss, and 19 QB hits.

He was No. 89 on PFT’s list of top 100 free agents.

He was a true NFL character. Before my time though....I've just always had the impression that DET ownership cares much more about profit than winning on the field...

If I looked it up I would have given you the year and the fact that they beat the Browns would have been the cherry on top. That was just from my head

Nick Bosa shares videos showing progress in ACL recovery

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa said in February that he will return from last year’s torn ACL better than ever and he’s showing the work that he’s putting in to make that happen.

Bosa has shared several videos to his Instagram story in recent days showing off his work. Friday’s videos showed Bosa sprinting, changing direction, and doing cone drills while previous entries included sprints while pulling a weighted sled behind him.

Bosa tore his ACL in the second week of the 2020 season, so he has had a good chunk of time to rehab and it appears he’s well on his way toward being ready to go for training camp and the start of the season. Depending on what the NFL decides for in-person offseason work, he could even be on the field ahead of the summer.

The second overall pick on the 2019 draft had nine regular season sacks and four postseason sacks as a rookie and his return will be a welcome one for a 49ers defense that couldn’t consistently pressure quarterbacks last year.

I just thought everyone would like to know what team had the best record during the 16 game schedule years 1978-2020. The Steelers

    @ 413-265-2 are the best.
    Patriots @ 410-270 are #2

The Lions @ 268-410-2 are the worst
The Browns @ 251-379-2 are tied for the worst winning % of .398 with the Lions.

So the AFCN has the best and worst teams for the 16 game schedule period.

And I look forward to those two teams swapping places in the 17 game season era. The time has come. The past is the past I’m going to enjoy the now.

You really think the Rooney's are going to field the worst team in football for the next couple decades? C'mon man.

No, I don't... but gidion is off slightly, the Lions have a winning percentage of .395, the Browns are .399, so they are actually the second worst team over that time period (assuming the rest of his numbers are correct).. and yeah, I could see them fielding the second worst team.

Though I don't truly believe it will go that dire, I could see them sinking into the 3rd/4th position in the AFC North yearly for the next decade. I'm not predicting the Browns are going to win the division every year, but as long as Tomlin is there, they will start to slide into mediocrity. Their only hope would be to luck into another really good QB, which is going to be difficult to do. They will be fixing their salary cap issue for the next 2 years, so it really needs to come from the draft... or if Deshawn Watson comes back on a prove it 4 year deal, they will most likely be willing to overlook his "issues" given their past with their QBs. That's how they will stay relevant.

This goes back to 1978, the Browns have been THE worst team over the past 20 years since their return.. So, it is a bit skewed.

The Steelers have enjoyed continuity over their history. If they drop into the drudge of finishing at or near the basement the next 10 years, it could really change that continuity over the next 40. The Browns SEEM to have a good thing going. A good young QB, a good young base on both sides of the ball surrounding that QB and a young HC who SEEMS to be the real deal. We have a long way to go in getting in a continuity stage, but if we grab that threshold, it could easily turn the tables between the Browns and Steelers. Stefanski could be at the reigns for the next 20 years ala Bill Belichick, if Baker continues to improve and has the longevity that Brady had. Stefanski is almost exactly 30 years younger than Bill... so our dynasty could potentially last a little longer if they get lucky with QBs when Baker starts to show his age.

All this is horse shit obviously... We don't know year to year what will happen with anything NFL related. The Steelers could draft a laugher of QB in the 6th round and he could turn out to be better than Roethilsberger. That's what makes the league great, it is as unpredictable as college basketball. In the MLB and NBA, the way they are set up, you can buy your way to the playoffs. If you aren't lined up to do so, you simply sell off your highest assets to lower your costs and the rich get richer with talent. The NFL is set up so that the worst team in the league, though unlikely, can beat the best team in the league on any given Sunday, they also NEVER have undefeated teams despite only playing 16 regular season games and 3 post season games.

    Two AFC North Coaches:

16 year career, 7 playoff appearances, 4 division titles.. missed the playoffs his last 3 seasons, going 6-9-1, 7-9 and 6-10
14 year career, 9 playoff appearances, 7 division titles.. missed the playoffs 2 of his last 3 seasons going 9-6-1, 8-8 and making the playoffs at 12-4

The difference in these two coaches career in the AFC North? One had a QB in Ben Roethlisberger his entire Head Coaching career, the other has had 2 below average QBs in that span in Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton. Without Roethlsiberger, I don't think Tomlin lasts 3 seasons. Marvin Lewis was a better HC than Tomlin, but Tomlin has a Super Bowl ring thanks to Bill Cowher leaving a championship team intact for him to take over. The Steelers were on cruise control at that point of his career, I'm not sure they couldn't have chosen ANY of the Steelers assistant coaches, as long as they continued the system, they were going to continue winning.

We will see what Tomlin is made of in the next couple of years... well, unless the Steelers finish 4th in the AFCN, then he probably won't be around for 2022. This time around we will actually get to see what a real rebuild is like in Pittsburgh. They haven't had a real rebuild since Chuck Knoll in the late 60's early 70's. Bill Cowher inherited Neil O'Donnel, Mike Tomlin inherited Ben Roethlisberger. When the Steelers drafted Roethlisberger, they weren't in the middle of a rebuild, they had been in the playoffs two of the previous 3 seasons. So they had the team and was missing one element. This Steelers team is different. They have the QB and a solid defense, but a lot of changes could be coming.. Ben, this has to be his swann song. Pouncey is already gone, Connoer is already gone so it seems, TJ Watt has one year left on his contract.. if they finish 4th in the division and don't have an answer at QB, he might decide free agency is the best option. Decastro is in the last year of his contract at the age of 31. There are a few bright spots at WR and Minkah Fitpatrick, who you should have for 2 more years if/when they pick up his 5th year option on his rookie deal (I assume this follows the player when traded).

Nothing could change beach, everything could fall in line for the Steelers and the Browns could be looking up from 2nd-4th, we won't know until the games are played. But, the two teams are in very different positions momentarily from a coach and roster stand point. The Browns have just begun their current journey and the Steelers are coming to the end of a long journey.

We will see how it all works out in the coming years.

What I do know.. The Rooney's can't just WILL success. They must have help. At the moment, I couldn't tell you where that help is coming from.

    James Conner visiting Cardinals

The Cardinals are looking at some additional help for their backfield.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, James Conner is visiting with Arizona on Monday. The running back is available after rushing for 721 yards and six touchdowns with the Steelers in 2020. He also caught 35 passes for 215 yards.

A former third-round pick, Conner’s best season came in 2018 when he rushed for 973 yards with 12 TDs and made 55 receptions for 497 yards.

Arizona currently has Chase Edmonds, Eno Benjamin, Jonathan Ward, and Khalfani Muhammad on the roster at the position. The club’s leading rusher from last year, Kenyan Drake, signed a two-year deal with the Raiders in March.

Reports: No Jadeveon Clowney/Browns meeting Monday, now set for Wednesday

A meeting between Jadeveon Clowney and the Browns may happen this week, but it won’t happen on Monday.

There was word that the Browns were trying to set up a second meeting of the offseason with Clowney on Monday, but Josina Anderson reports that a travel issue kept that from happening. Anderson adds that there’s hope that the two sides can schedule a meeting for later this week.

Clowney also drew interest from the Rams last offseason, but he wound up signing with the Titans. He played eight games in Tennessee and ended the year on injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Browns signed Takk McKinley earlier this offseason and their continued interest in Clowney shows they’d still like to add to their options across from Myles Garrett.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m. ET: Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday.

You do know that Tomlin lead the Steelers to a 8-6 and 3-1 record when Roethlisberger missed 14 games in 2019 and 4 games suspension in 2010. Seems to me that Tomlin does really good when he has to do it without Ben. 9-7 without a stud QB, imagine if he gets lucky as you said and gets a good QB. It would be the same old Steelers

Wow, thanks, I've said some pretty Fing dumb things on here too!!

Now... Please proceed on tearing that particular statement apart. I actually said A LOT of things tongue and cheek in that posting, and this was the least whimsical of them all... The AFC North is going to be one of the top divisions in the NFL the way it is shaping up. I know you probably don't believe in Stefanski and Baker, but they took care of your Steelers in the playoffs with extreme ease. Not only because the defense was awesome in the first half, but the offense did what ever they wanted to do. What did you see in that game that makes you think the Steelers second half of the season might not become the norm over the next 10 years within the division?

I did make some compelling statements to back up my beliefs, starting with the Steelers lackluster building blocks in place. The ones that are shining are on a short term and if they see the writing on the wall of downward spiral, could decide to jump ship.

I thin I could make a more compelling argument for thinking they are in for some down years, than you can for saying they are going to just keep being the same old Steelers... Of course your argument that the Rooney's won't let it happen is an astute and intelligent argument... I would still rather see some other arguments to back that up.

I'm not trying to argue with you beach, I even stated IN MY POST that it was all bullshit... But when you come on and call a post dumb, you really should explain why.

I'm serious, and I have a whole fanbase of Bears fans that will back me up... I'm positive that isn't close to the dumbest thing I have ever said in these forums. I used to get my butt hurt when others would come on and talk smack against the Browns, and I would defend said Browns with less information to go on than you saying the Steelers will just keep being the Steelers because the Rooney's won' t allow otherwise. I've said some pretty dumb shit in my day...

Julian Edelman is hanging up his cleats.

Shortly after news broke that the Patriots had released Edelman after he failed a physical related to last year’s knee injury, Edelman announced that he has played the last game of his career.

“Nothing in my career has ever come easy,” Edelman said. “This isn’t going to be easy either. I’ve always said I’m going until the wheels come off and they finally have fallen off. Due to an injury last year I will be making my official announcement of my retirement from football. It was a hard decision but the right decision for me and my family. And I am honored and so proud to be retiring as a Patriot.”

Edelman retires with three Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl MVP award, and he retires with a unique place in Patriots history for his many contributions, which included not only being one of the NFL’s top possession receivers, but also a contributor as a punt returner, a passer on trick plays and even a cornerback at times.

“It’s been a hell of a run,” Edelman said. “I can’t forget you, Patriot Nation.”
