I just thought everyone would like to know what team had the best record during the 16 game schedule years 1978-2020. The Steelers

    @ 413-265-2 are the best. .609%
    Patriots @ 410-270 are #2

The Lions @ 268-410-2 are the worst
The Browns @ 251-379-2 are tied for the worst winning % of .398 with the Lions.

So the AFCN has the best and worst teams for the 16 game schedule period.

If it ain't Steel it ain't real!!

    Just some food for thought.

Clowney is expected to sign with the Browns today. A one-year deal likely means we look to go edge in the early rounds of the draft. A multi-year deal means we probably take that off the table.

Either way, Happy Monday to the rest of the AFC North quarterbacks (and also to Lamar Jackson).

A pass rusher that doesn't pass rush. I'm sure the rest of the division is shaking in their boots.

    So, some honest answers beach..

    Who would you rather have:

    Bud Dupree
    Jadeveon Clowney
    Alex Highsmith

When the man isn't hurt, Clowney excels at tackles for loss and QB hits. IF he can have a healthy season, he would improve the run defense, make the QB rethink his step up process to avoid Myles Garrett and give this team much needed depth. That's all we would really be asking of him. I think the sacks would come also, but even if that's all you get, it is worth $10M...Sack master's are making $20M nowadays. You can't afford two of them on a team.

He's definitely a force against the run when healthy. I've thought for several years he was one of the more overrated players in the NFL. It's not a Browns thing.

If you get him for 10M that's not bad. This is the year for that. But a one year, 10M contract is for teams looking to put themselves in the SB. I don't believe that's the Browns.

The Browns were this illegal -- and uncalled -- hit away from the AFC Championship game last year and would have matched up well with the Buffalo Bills. Since this hit, the Browns have (1) returned their entire offensive unit, (2) added several key players on defense to address deficiencies, including the best nickel cornerback in the NFL and the third-best safety in the NFL and (3) they'll get an actual offseason this year with all offensive players already on the same page in Stefanski's offense.

If you don't believe they're in a position to compete for a spot in the Super Bowl, then that must be you drinking the Browns Haterade again.

A fumble in the first half kept them out of the SB? Sorry but the 2nd half is played differently IF they score on that possession.

The Browns have a history of exceeding expectations when they aren't picked to contend. Then when they come back the next year and they are the focus among other teams they disappoint.

I'm old enough to remember when they were going to tear up the NFL with Freddie Kitchens because of what they did the second half of the 2018 season. "Best offense in the NFL" was the label bestowed upon them.

Last year was last year, all those games will need to be won again. We'll see. I say 8 or 9 wins.

I mean, that was a 10-point swing and they lost by five. So... yeah.
Well they've only been picked once or twice in the last 20 years, so...
Probably because they (1) were the best offense in the NFL, (2) had the look of a team that was coalescing around an identity and a coach, and (3) we trusted the GM knew what he was doing. Floppin' with Freddie was the best possible thing that could have happened because it got the entire organization on the same page - front office down to position coaches. The resulting 2020 season shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone... they are a young, promising roster.
Well six in the AFC North should just about get us to your total then. Add Houston, Arizona, and New England and... what they gonna get blanked by the entire AFC West and NFC North?

    Also worth noting...

A player doesn't have a second visit with a scheduled physical if they don't plan on signing with said team, but even if Clowney leaves town without a contract, this roster is still set to compete for a Super Bowl.

I couldn't agree more, actually. It's almost like they went out in free agency and intentionally added: Troy Hill, Malik Jackson, John Johnson, Takkarist McKinley, and Anthony Walker in an effort to upgrade the defense and make sure they don't let a Chad Henne do something like that next time.
