Looks like we are at a standstill...I'll check back every half. I got Buffalo if they get OTC tonight.....
Good video, but he really wasn't all that good as an AFL player. Basically the equivalent of a practice squad guy who suddenly got to play a couple of games - and then got released (or "delisted", as they call it). He mentioned kicking a couple of goals, but that's pretty much expected if you're playing forward. It's not like soccer where two goals in a match would be a big deal. It's pretty normal for a team to kick 15-20 goals in a match. Some good clips of his debut game. His team (in purple with the anchor pattern logo on the front) was the Fremantle Dockers. The opponents with the horizontal blue and white stripes are the Geelong Cats. I was never crazy about Geelong, going back to the early 1990s, because someone at the club had arranged for their fans sitting directly behind the goals to wave large Ford flags (their main corporate sponsor at the time) whenever they kicked a goal, basically turning the kick into a commercial for Ford. Also not crazy about Fremantle because each team has a team song that gets played when they come out to the field and again at the final siren if they win, and Freo's song is just plain annoying. AFL has done a better job of going to alternate or specialty jumpers (uniforms) in recent years, including some really cool ones with aboriginal designs. Having the alternate uniforms really helps at times, such as when Geelong plays North Melbourne. You saw Geelong's horizontal blue and white stripes. North Melbourne's standard uniform is vertical blue and white stripes. Watching them play against each other was a migraine waiting to happen.
Dick LeBeau was drafted by Cleveland and then traded to Detroit during his rookie season training camp. Never played a down for the Browns.
LeBeau wasn't the only Hall of Famer drafted by the Browns who never played a down for them. Anybody want to venture a guess who the other one was?
Close to the same. Didn’t the Chiefs draft a DB in the 3rd round about 5-7 years ago, drop him before the season? I think he was from Notre Dame.
Remember Christian Peter? Believe he’s still the only draft pick in history to get cut before training camp.
KeiVarae Russell. Chiefs 3rd round, 2016 draft. Played for Cincinnati from 2016-2018, after being cut before regular season by the team that drafted him
Yes he was, and that version of the Colts folded after that season. The Colts players were dispersed back into the draft pool and he was picked in the 4th round by the Browns in 1951 but was traded to the Yankees before the season. The Yankees then moved to Dallas as the Texans and then they folded after that season, and he went back to Baltimore with the second iteration of the Colts in 1953.
Thanks TopDawg. I owe you a few rounds the next time you're in Portugal. NYJ -> TB -> BUF 7 (25) BTW, one of the reasons the Bills accumulated 4 seventh round picks is because I expected to use one (#25) on Max Duffy, P, Kentucky. I'll buy those rounds anyway.
