I am not replying directly to your comment, because - as I understand your intent - I believe you make a valid comment. But, the Bills are most definitely NOT in a “no win situation”. They are literally in a WIN IT ALL position. That outcome is up to the Buffalo Bills - and no one else - to determine.
Dwayne Haskins set to visit with Steelers today The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking an early look at the QB market. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Dwayne Haskins has a visit set with the Steelers today, per sources informed of the situation. In late December, Haskins was cut by the Washington Football Team before the season ended, after just 13 starts in less than two years. The former first-round pick also recently visited the Carolina Panthers. The Steelers surprisingly didn't upgrade their QB room in 2020, riding with Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs behind Ben Roethlisberger. With Big Ben's future beyond this season in doubt, meeting with Haskins is an initial indication that Pittsburgh is looking for young signal-callers in the coming season. The swift, if nominal, interest in Haskins underscores the latent talent the Ohio State product harbors. A former first-round pick, the QB owns a big arm that can spray the ball all over the field. However, poor mechanics and struggles reading defenses have led to inconsistent play. Off-field concerns emanating from Washington led to his release. Haskins owns talent if a club is willing to nurture the 23-year-old who needs experience and positive coaching to get his career on track. Under Mike Tomlin, behind Big Ben, could be a positive landing spot for both parties if the visit leads to a job. NFL.com
Quarterback Dwayne Haskins‘ visit with the Steelers apparently went well. According to multiple reports, the Steelers have agreed to terms with Haskins on a contract. He will be part of their offseason roster and compete for a spot on the 53-man one they will take into the 2021 season. Haskins started six games for Washington this season and was pulled from his final appearance in Week 16. That start came a week after Haskins was seen out partying without a mask, which earned him a fine from the team and Washington cut Haskins a few days after that Week 16 loss. The Steelers had four quarterbacks under contract in 2020. Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph are signed for next season, but Josh Dobbs is headed for free agency and Devlin Hodges said his goodbyes to the team this week.
They are literally in a WIN IT ALL position. Good Luck Dan........I'm cheering for the Bills to win it all after the Titans exit. If they make it to the Super Bowl I guess that will be a Late night for you....lol.....10pm Kick-Off ???
What makes them think they can get the concrete out of Haskins head LOL Jean..........he did not meet the Teams (Wash.) Standards.......and now he is a Steeler......the weird thing is he was Great at Ohio St.
It’s just a desperation play by the Steelers. They will be in need of a quarterback very soon if not immediately, and perhaps he came cheap. Correction: he was decent at Ohio State. He got wildly overdrafted IMO
Futures Contract I'd guess. Every team signs about a couple dozen of those guys. This one was just in the news recently. Nothing desperate about that.
Andy Reid: Patrick Mahomes took the majority of snaps in Thursday’s practice There was more positive news out of Kansas City on the Patrick Mahomes front Thursday afternoon. Head coach Andy Reid said the quarterback was able to take the majority of snaps in the day’s practice as Mahomes works his way through the concussion protocol. “Pat looked good out there,” Reid said, via Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star. “He’s moving around well. He feels good. It’s just important we follow the protocol, and that’s what we’re doing.” Mahomes was seen on the field during the portion of Chiefs practice open to media on Thursday. He was officially a limited participant in Wednesday’s session. NBC
Patrick Mahomes announces he’s cleared to play Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes got the news he was looking for after the team’s practice on Friday. Head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Mahomes was going to be evaluated by doctors after taking part in their final on-field work of the week. Word that Mahomes would be addressing the media came a short time later and that signaled he’d been cleared to play this Sunday. Players in the concussion protocol don’t meet with reporters and Mahomes confirmed that he’s no longer in the protocol. “Luckily enough, I haven’t had any symptoms and I’m able to play,” Mahomes said, via Nate Taylor of TheAthletic.com. Mahomes has also been dealing with a toe injury that he picked up early in last week’s win, but that’s not going to keep him from starting his third straight conference title game. NBC
Patrick Mahomes has highest passer rating ever, both regular season and playoffs The NFL’s official statistic for quantifying passing efficiency is passer rating, which considers completion percentage, yards per pass, touchdowns and interceptions. Passer rating is far from a perfect stat, but at a glance it provides a good look at how efficient a quarterback is. And Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s all-time leader, both in the regular season and in the postseason. To qualify for the regular season record, a quarterback must have thrown 1,500 career passes. Mahomes topped that mark in the 2020 season and now has thrown 1,687 passes in his career. He has a career passer rating of 108.7, topping Deshaun Watson‘s 104.5, Aaron Rodgers‘ 103.9, Russell Wilson‘s 101.7 and Drew Brees‘s 98.7. It’s noteworthy that everyone in the Top 5 was active during the 2020 NFL season. Quarterbacks are much more efficient now than they used to be, and that’s one of the flaws with passer rating: It doesn’t adjust for era, so it’s always going to favor the modern passers. But that’s what makes Mahomes breaking the postseason record so noteworthy. Mahomes has a career postseason passer rating of 106.6, and when Mahomes reached the minimum of 150 postseason passes to qualify, he broke a record that Bart Starr had held since the 1960s. It’s a testament to how great Starr was in big games that he had a postseason passer rating of 104.8, still second only to Mahomes in NFL history. NFL passing offenses were so different during Starr’s era that most of the passing numbers from those days look laughably bad. (In 1969 Starr led the league with an 89.9 passer rating, while in 2020 the league average passer rating was 93.6.) In the playoffs, Starr put up numbers in the 1960s that look excellent even in 2020. Mahomes is now putting up numbers that the NFL has never seen before. NBC
Mahomes is still moving towards his prime. He is amazing. I can’t believe 10 teams passed on him if you count the one that traded the tenth pick with KC.
But in proper context, you can’t act like anyone knew he was a sure thing. All he did in college was play backyard football. JJ Watt went 11th. Michael Thomas 2nd round. All guys who reached elite levels at their position. And I’ll go out on the limb and say we have seen Mahomes’ best. I mean how would you actually improve on the best we have seen from him? Plus injuries are already appearing. Not saying it will be every year. Just that you can notice the toll already.
I was going to put this up before and forgot but since the top guys are QBs I'll post it here... Who is your MVP? Assuming you had a top 5 ballot who would be on it? For me I think Aaron Rodgers is the clear #1 and then after a slight drop off it's almost a virtual tie between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes but I give Allen an edge. Then I have Henry and Donald. Other QBs like Wilson and Murray slipped as the season went on and I wouldn't include a WR above any of these 5. I know the players just voted Mahomes their offensive MVP but it goes to show how biased they are for hype. Funny thing is that if this were for 2019 MVP, I'd have at least 3 of them ahead of Lamar. So in summary MVP 1. Rodgers 2. Allen 3. Mahomes 4. Henry 5. Donald
You know, after some thought I’d put Allen ahead of Rodgers. Aaron Jones >> Singletary/Moss Still saying D.Adams >> Diggs (good as he was). 3rd for me is Derrick Henry. So: 1 J. Allen 2 Rodgers 3 Henry 4 Mahomes 5 Brady
Sadly I think Mahomes steps back some because even without him KC can still win a lot of games because of the cast and coaching. Still he had the best record among starting QBs If you take Allen off the Bills they dont make the playoffs. Rodgers had a huge year with 6 games with a passer rating over 130 (he only had two games under 100). Probably has the best running back of the three and you can make the argument he has the best WR (but id say as a group wrs Mahomes has the advantage). Henry is interesting because he broke 2000 yards and the offnense is completly built around him. If you are throwing Donald into the mix at the 5th spot then 5B has to be TJ Watt (he finished ahead of Darnold in several defensive catagories qb hits, pressures, tackles and tackles for losses to name a few). I would love to see Darnold or Watt get it but we all know it goes to a QB so that rules Henry out as well. Im going to go Rodgers, Allen, and Mahomes. Ask me again tomorrow and im liable to flip all three. As a side note how about some love for Kelce who very nearly lead the league in receiving yards as a tight end.
I'm a little surprised you have Brady at 5. I personally would have Wilson ahead but it's pretty close. I guess it makes sense though since Wilson regressed and Tom was more steady with a decent ending. I remember when the pro bowl ballot came out people were asking about who the 3rd QB would be after Rodgers and Wilson since Murray took a dive and I said it should clearly be Brady. Of course he didn't even make the pro bowl. Brady had a great end to his season; a very nice December and January but it was average as far as great season by a QB goes IMO and I gotta give Donald the props before any other QBs aside from the top 3.
