I think the Eagles will be a bit motivated because of that embarrassment at the hands of the Giants. The Eagles will put up points but Chubb just revitalizes the Browns. 27-24 Browns.
Speaking of Nick Chubb . . . He made probably the smartest play I've seen from a Browns player in a long, long time. 4th qtr - less than a minute to play . . . he breaks a long run and is heading to the end zone. Rather than run it in, he steps out of bounds. The Texans were already out of time outs. That move allowed the Browns to keep their offense on the field, ice the clock and guarantee the win. Further evidence he couldn't give a shit about individual stats - just team stats. (Although he probably pissed off a few fantasy owners.)
Not that anyone cares, but Chubb stated that it was Baker Mayfield that told the huddle, no matter what, if they make the first down, no one is to score. They need to get the first, then take a knee and end the game. That's exactly what Chubb did, then exactly what Baker and the Browns did. W all day long.
I saw the replay of that 3rd and 3 run. That was a huge effort by Chubb. If they get him, the Texans have a chance to drive for the tie.
The Browns really do have a two headed monster in Chubb and Hunt. If Chubb is heathy down the stretch, the Browns can really do some damage. They just need to play from the lead so that their opponents can become predictable for the defense. If an offense can mix it up too much, our defense is in trouble.
I was kinda bent at first, only because I have Chubb in Fantasy football....But it took my '16 year old" son to smack me in the face and remind me that Chubb just iced the game and he doesn't give a shit about my fantasy team...lol! Yes.
Eagles vs Browns Huge week for the Cleveland Browns. In a crazy good AFC, the Browns can't afford a misstep. Gotta take care of business and get after Carson Wentz. I'm expecting a big game from #95 and the dawg D..... Eagles have been mistake/turnover prone all year and this looks like a big opportunity for Myles Garrett and the dawgs to shine. It's time to win the games we are expected to win...
Talk here in Philly is all about the coach/QB. Who's to blame? Wentz is the worst QB in the NFL on 3rd down conversion, turns the ball over more than all but 1 other QB, and holds the ball too long. Coach Pederson doesn't defend Wentz, and when Brett Favre said Wentz was a problem, he defended "his friend's "Brett's" right to his opinion. There's trouble brewing in Philly. The truth is they actually have a decent run game, but Pederson keeps calling pass plays. He loves his reputation as being a risk taker, and "goes for it" on 4th downs, and 2 point conversions in places others would think it foolish. We are the better team and should put this away, get some trunovers, and be comfortably ahead when the 4th quarter, IMO. If we don't turn the ball over Philly cannot keep up.
Certainly helpful in that it takes away all potential for injury. But the TD puts them up two scores with :56 seconds. A lot of people compared it to the Gurley play. Totally different. How would the Browns had felt if there was a bad exchange on the kneel down, the ball was fumbled away and the Texans only had to get in FG territory to tie the game?
How long did it take to find that ONE example out of the literally 100 thousand snaps that have taken place at all levels over the past couple of decades. Besides, I have a helluva lot more faith in Baker than I do/did in Brandon Weeden... on every level. Say what you want, but scoring twice in a little over a minute is better odds, than kneeling down twice in that same amount of time.
Uh, oh............ BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns will be without their top defensive player Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, as Cleveland placed star defensive end Myles Garrett on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday. Garrett did not come in for Wednesday's practice after reporting not feeling well. A source told ESPN that Garrett would not play against the Eagles. The team announced that a player had tested positive for COVID-19 and that "zero high-risk contacts have been identified." Browns right tackle Jack Conklin and kicker Cody Parkey were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week after coming into contact with an outside practitioner who had tested positive. Coach Kevin Stefanski has said he was hopeful that both will be able to rejoin the team before Sunday. Losing Garrett for Sunday's game is a huge blow to the Browns, who at 6-3 are aiming to snap the NFL's longest playoff drought of 18 years. Garrett leads the league with 9.5 sacks; the rest of the team combined has only 12.5 sacks. Garrett also has an NFL-best four forced fumbles. According to league rules, a player who tests positive for COVID-19 can't return to the team until at least 10 days after the start of symptoms, plus at least 24 hours after symptoms have passed.
I can see both sides and, IMO, the Browns win no matter what Chubb does. But, I do think the Todd Gurley play affected everyone's thought process coming into that scenario. All good cuz the Browns won.
