Seems most of our guys have disappeared off the site. Anyway, the Ravens are rocking them Browns 31-6 going into the 4th. Lamar and Andrews rocking in rolling. Dobbins with a TD run, and Hollywood having a good game. Bowser with a big sack on 4th down as well.
Yeah I definitely have just been keeping a side eye on sports in general. Interesting trivia for us. First catch of the 2020 season for us was by Duvernay. First rushing TD came from JK. Good to see the rookies being involved. I don't think the Ravens ran the ball well at all today. Jackson definitely seemed determined to pass and not run. He only really broke off 1 decent run that took him to the 1. The RBs were nothing to write home about. Edwards showed again why he really doesn't have a place as the #1 back here with that miscue in running into Jackson. He's a great complimentary piece, and I'm glad he's on the team, but too many mistakes happen when he's on the field to be the main workhorse back. It's weird to say after only giving up 6 points, but the defense looked rough today. I should say areas of the defense looked rough. The run defense felt quite porous. I guess this is a symptom of not hitting and no preseason games. I also felt like we didn't get as much pressure as I would have hoped for in the passing game. Poor Brandon Williams with absolutely 0 pass rushing moves as he was just getting stood up by Tretter with his arm in the air in a solo rush attempt. Queen had a nice start to his career with splash plays getting a sack and forcing a fumble. It's hard to really have TOP or yards when the Browns were turning the ball over on a short field nearly every possession. Watching the Browns kicker botch everything just further cements that Tucker does deserve to be on those top 100 player lists. Kickers are a damn important piece of the puzzle. Lamar was good today passing the ball around. I really think that with a weird preseason that he should use his legs more early on. He would feast on sloppy tackling. Regardless, when is the bogus narrative about Lamar not capable of throwing the ball going to be put to rest? Who predicted Tyre would be the starting RG? Also, hopefully Stanley is ok. Apparently the Ravens are the first team in NFL history to win 3 consecutive season openers by 30+ points. Dobbins also is the first Ravens rookie RB to score a TD in his first game. 1 AFC and divisional win in the book, and definite things to improve upon. Next 2 weeks will be their real tests. I feel like they have to at least split those games.
1 thing I hope gets discussed, the Ravens ran almost no read option that I can remember. Lamar dominated in the passing game from all traditional passing formations. He was bailed out on his first TD, and had an ugly throw later that should have been picked off, but other than that he was surgical. Found the wide open man consistently, and even when players were covered, he threw great passes. The TD to Andrews (2nd one) looked like double coverage. The pass TD to snead was on a rope. Lamar Jackson dominating in the passing game out of traditional passing formations will be a nightmare for the NFL. Hollwood looked good. Andrews looked great. I liked theblittle we saw out of Boykin, Duvernay, and Dobbins (started him in fantasy out of need). Queen also looked great ln defense, for a rookie. Calias Campbell had 2 or 3 pass deflections. He's a monster out there. Wolfe looked decent quietly. LJ Fort is another quietly great player. Let's hope Stanley and Humphrey are good to go moving forward.
Yeah Brown looked really good today. Speaking of Lamar passing, that deep shot to Brown was right in the bucket.
ok fellas, late to the party for sure, but work comes first. I think my main thought was already stated by Kyreal. No read option. I feel like that is why we did not run the ball well. They were running traditional handoffs and not utilizing the threat of Lamar at all. It did prove that he is a really good passer and has improved tremendously and also that he does not need the read option to be dominant. The one time he ran up the left sideline and then pitched to an unsuspecting Ingram reminded me of Ed Reed on a pick or kick return. Pitching it to the next guy regardless of whether the other guy was ready or not. LOL. I think the defense will need some time to gel, but I liked what I saw overall. Speed and playmakers all over the place. I think giving the defense a couple of weeks to get comfortable with the new pieces and it will be scary good. I can't tell you how amazing it is to have young playmakers contributing at every position. It is something we have never seen on both sides of the ball at the same time. I am excited. I think we handle the Texans. They did not seem to be the force I had imagined. I see that Watson has shifter from only having eyes for Hopkins to only having eyes for Fuller. Shut down Fuller (which we have the tools to do) and I think that passing comes to a grinding halt.
