Not only more money in baseball but so much easier on the body. Had he played hockey who knows how hobbled he’d be right now.
He was also very fortunate to be on that Atlanta team. I think they had only one WS Championship, but that was one more than a lot of HoF’ers. All in all, he has had a charmed life. Sounds like a good guy, too. So, applause.
2020 NHL Draft, Combine, Awards have been postponed While the 2019-20 season remains on “pause,” the NHL announced that the 2020 NHL Draft, Combine, and Awards have all been postponed. The league explains that the “location, timing, and format” of the 2020 NHL Draft (and corresponding lottery) will be announced once details have been finalized. NBC
Lottery is tonight and should sway the fortunes of a few teams. Ottawa with 2 swings at it and Will's Wings with a good shot.
sorry Will, you guys get bent over hard last night. Sens too. So will Lafreniere play with McDavid or Draisaitl?
Maybe the Wings select, Rossi - left-shot forward averaged 2.14 points per game, second in the CHL behind Lafreniere, is capable of winning puck battles, is strong on face-offs (58.5 winning percentage) and generates offense with his high hockey IQ, good hands and playmaking ability (so some experts say). He'd be a good addition at forward, but they also need defense, maybe a Drysdale out of Erie... maybe the best defenseman in the draft. If it were up to me, id go with Rossi and gamble on defense in the next selection. I think a Rossi type with Larkin's line would be ideal and create some offense eventually on a team that just couldnt score.
Had to give you a Like on content, Will. However, as a Sabres fan I’m not liking your bromance with Rossi. If he were an inch or two taller he’d be the consensus #3 overall. Since he’s 5’9” I’m hoping he makes it down to #8. The German kid, Stutzle should go 3 and I doubt OTT would pass on Drysdale at 5. The Wings have a few needs, but you’d have a fine D-core coming up if SY goes with him. I see Tier 1 as a group of 1 prospect, and Tier 2 also is a solitary prospect. Tier 3 goes #3-8 and the real question is what order they go. Everyone in the top eight should get a dynamic player - in a year or two. The wildcards, IMHO, are D, Sanderson and G, Askarov. Some team could covet D or G (probably a team need rather than a BPA approach) and try to trade up into the top 8-10. Otherwise I think the top 8 is rather predictable. I’ve been extremely high on Connor Zary, C, WHL. I would not hate it for Buffalo to take him at 8, but that would be widely decried as a reach-pick. But, if Buffalo could trade down while still picking in the top 15 then that might be my favorite* scenario. (* This presumes Rossi is gone; Stutzle almost assuredly will not make it past 5.) It’s a different position, but Zary reminds me of Matty’s boy, Charlie McAvoy in a player that rose up the draft board, but in a couple of years looks like he was a draft steal. Zary is good at everything he’s big enough to enforce his will and he’s got that grit. But what I like the most is that he is smart, very smart, at hockey.
Zary belongs in the early/mid teens as he projects as a 3C on a solid playoff team. That’s an extremely important role, but ideally not one taken in the top 10.
I liked your post based on your knowledge of the game and its players, you said it well, I on the other hand......well, prospects isnt my strongest attribute, lol. You gave me food for thought.
I’m assuming Detroit grabs Rossi or Drysdale at 4. Agree with Dan that a team that needs D or that goalie will be the wildcard here.
No. 1 pick in 2020 NHL Draft Lottery to be awarded by Second Phase Eight teams eliminated from Stanley Cup Qualifiers have equal odds at first selection
Whichever team wins it, I hope they're in the WC. NAS has never won a thing draft lottery wise (because they've never been in the top 15 losers) and, believe it or not, Nashville is a real hockey town They're who I'd like to win, if not the Preds then the Wild. Both NAS and MIN offer trade opps for Buffalo; especially if they're able to add Lafreniere. If it's an EC team - keep him out of the Atlantic! - I'd prefer Columbus. They are an underappreciated fan base, and I've had more fun watching NHL hockey there* compared to ANY NHL barn. (* Well, Columbus gets the most-fun award based on atmosphere and ambiance, but it's hard to have MORE fun that going to a game with Matty in Boston or Lava in Vancouver.)
I agree with this, save for the obvious exception of Florida. Wouldn't mind that at all... But otherwise, yes - no Atlantic winners!
Im still flabbergasted that winning teams loaded with talent have a shot at #1... just doesnt set well with me.
The Buffalo Sabres are accustomed to getting humped by the NHL. (Proof? Look at that “goal” with Hull’s foot in the crease.) I’ve kinda gotten over it since ownership now seems to be in cahoots with fu€<ing over the fanbase.
Wings got screwed over big time, i dont blame you for being pissed Will. Aside from that I think this is exciting, im looking forward to tonight. dont want things like this to happen regularly but it adds a level of entertainment that we've never had. No Edmonton, Pitt, or Leafs tonight. I'm cool with any of the others, hell Id be ok with Edmonton too.
The Leafs would be absofu€<ing horrendous! Arrrrgh, I don’t even want to think about that. Basically, I’m at “any team but Toronto!”. Yeah, Detroit got humped. I did not intend to rub salt in your wounds, Will.
