How do you feel about him overall? I’ve seen him mocked as high as the 2nd but I just don’t see and NFL QB, wanna know if I’m missing something
I remember when I was a kid everything came in glass bottles or steel cans. You used to have to hurt yourself to crush an old beer can.
Until he proves it, it's never going to be a certainty. But I'll tell you what he does have. The drive to inherently believe in himself. Some leadership ability. An ability to escape the pocket and buy time. The ability to make some touch throws downfield. He's a guy I probably never would have drafted if I didn't get to the second and third viewing of some of his tape. He actually has some pretty good intermediate and deep ball placement. We would have to tailor our offense to him a little bit at least early on. The good news is year one it's Rivers show. So (barring injury) he would get that time to refine his mechanics and work on progressions. I actually do see some potential there. But far from a certainty. That said, until you have YOUR quarterback, you better be willing to look. This is shot #1 for the post Rivers era. Edit: Also, you can kind of sense a bit of that evolution of the pro-game to more read-option, just to continue confusing defenses and creating matchups. Thanks in large part to what Carolina starter a while back and what Baltimore took a few more steps with last year, guys with Hurts' skill set are going to increase in value at least moderately over the coming few years.
If it makes you feel any better I have the same concerns with the Colts and Love (whom I'm not a big believer in)
You know the problem with the running QBs is that they haven’t done anything as far as winning the big one. Good defenses can control them
