I had a look back at my draft last year. 1.8 A.J. Brown 2.5 Michael Gallup 4.6 Justice Hill 5.3 Germaine Pratt 7.3 Josh Oliver 10.8 Ryan Tannehill 10.12 Everson Griffen At the end of this season everyone but Pratt and Oliver was on my roster. Hill got moved for 4.7 to Tim after.
That’s a pretty damn good draft. As much as I liked mine last year, it doesn’t nearly look as good. I did hit in the middle of it which helps big time.
My trade page for both completed and rejected for this past season probably comes close to equaling every other season combined. It just was time to get aggressive and rebuild the roster. I already have the 2021 off-season plan laid out, lol.
Of the 17 picks I drafted last year only 7 didn’t factor into the season. Out of the remaining 10 - Seven are still on my roster and 3 were traded for other assets.
That's a solid number considering you can only roster so many. I really liked Justice Hill but I preferred him as a handcuff considering my roster and I need to make moves after the draft and at the bottom of the roster that I'd rather have the decision easier. I was never going to cut Hill so someone else was going to get axed. So he went back to being a handcuff with high upside on your roster. I essentially got a mulligan on my draft MLB style, 1 spot after his draft slot last year.
Which makes for fair value at both ends of the deal. A fantasy rarity, lol. I approached last off-season knowing that a lot of my depth was becoming players that were being held onto for too long. Basically, I stacked up a lot of picks, prepared to cut a bunch of players and restocked the cupboard.
I have a habit of trying to draft plug-n-play players that will start immediately, instead of also snagging futures, which I really suck at. I need, big time, to learn how to project better.
I know that feeling of holding onto guys for too long. I made a bunch of moves last offseason to try and get out from under some without outright dropping them. It worked out I'd say and the draft went well but this year is interesting. I don't know if some on my core players or depth may need to be moved for a retool or if I should hold them. I'm entering the draft assuming I don't need much change but I'd be open to anything more than ever and will got through the season with more of an open mind on significant changes. Last year my goal was to try and trade for a solid QB 2. It almost didn't happen but I got Jimmy near the deadline (but played Tannehill as my #1 anyways lol).
Drink of the day: Campari and Tonic with freshly squeezed orange. I'd get a pic but it's too big to directly upload and jumping through hoops ruins it.
1.7 Devin Singletary 1.9 Deebo Samuel 2.9 Diontae Johnson 3.5 Jamison Crowder 3.7 Andy Isabella 4.9 Bruce Anderson 6.2 Christian Kirksey 6.9 Earl Thomas 7.9 Alex Barnes 8.9 Trevon Wesco 9.9 Emmanuel Hall 10.9 Matt Gay Still have 5 of my top 6 on the roster but not sure if Bruce Anderson will make it much longer.
1(11) Paris Campbell, WR, IND 2(8) Benny Snell, RB, PIT 3(10) Josh Allen, DE, JAC 4(5) Ed Oliver, DL, BUF 4(10) Daniel Jones, QB, NYG 7(2) Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, NE 9(6) Eric Reid, S, CAR 10(6) Jake Elliot, K, PHI 1st 5 picks are still on the roster, the last 4 have been long gone. Initially I was ecstatic about my draft thinking I did a great job. Jones was a big hit for me considering my QB luck last year.
Oh and I did acquire Kareem Hunt during the draft. It looks like I’ll have to wait until 2021 to see if it was worthwhile for me.
Truth's Trash-Talkers 1(12) T.J. Hockenson, TE - DET 2(12) J.J. Arcega-Whiteside 3(9) Nick Bosa, DE - SF 4(12) Demarcus Robinson, WR - KC 5(9) Georgio Tavecchio, PK - ATL 5(12) Kahale Warring, TE - HOU 7(1) Chase Winovich, DE - NE 7(12) Juan Thornhill, S - KC 9(12) Patrick Onwuasor, LB - BAL Still have high hopes overall, but can’t call it a runaway success. Tavecchio might have singlehandedly cost me the playoffs (lost match by 1 point, he put up a 0). If Hockenson becomes a viable top 10 TE then it’s success based on him and Bosa alone. Hoping for a big jump from Arcega-Whiteside next year. If I get extra points for grabbing Mark Andrews and Jordan Howard off the waiver wire, I accept the glory
