Browns Draft Hat is drawing criticism for being blackface. Other than that, I think it just looks like a really shitty design choice as well. Let's save a few cents on thread over a thousand hats by not putting in all the stitching.

 

Just read that all teams' hats are like this in a nod to the neon signs in Las Vegas where the draft was to be held prior to Covid-19. Ours is the only one that came across as leaning unintentionally racist.

 

Never been a fan of the elf...I don't like it either.

 

People need to stop seeing something in everything.. until that happens racism will always be at the forefront. It won't ever go away due to ignorance, but man, this just brings more hatred by making everything into something.

Should some PR person have seen it and made a change? Probably.. should have made the hat orange or simply changed away from the elf.

From what I have heard, the elf will be a prominent part of the Browns for the near future, which is why it is on the draft hat.

I for one like the elf, we have a long long history with Brownie, time to embrace him.

 

Yeah, we have a long history, but that history skipped a generation. He wasn't around when I was growing up. It's like Brownie was a thing in the 40's, 50's and 60's (maybe) and then he went AWOL for about 30 or 40 years, and now he's back. I don't know. I guess he doesn't bother me. I like the dog theme, with Swagger and everything much better than the elf, but no reason they can't co-exist on Cleveland Browns' sideline...

I don't get how Brownie is viewed as "unintentionally racist"? His hat offends people? What exactly are folks upset about with the elf?
