I would agree. And I would lump Urban Meyer into that in a big way, as well, based on what I know. Did he get brought up in the documentary? I haven't seen it yet.

 

Urban Meyer was brought up but there wasn’t much of an emphasis on him. They had old footage (20/20 interview I think) of Meyer’s wife talking about how Hernandez was a guest in their home.

Would love to see a deep dive kind of documentary on that Florida Gators squad. Some real trouble there and Tebow the one holding it all together. Strange dynamic.

 

That's a shame. Very disappointing. I would've thought that'd be all highly relevant.

I think the documentary crew would need to have a legal team available at all times. I have a feeling there are still a lot of prosecutable offenses that have gone undiscovered / undiscussed, and I doubt many members of the team would be willing to incriminate themselves / others. Certainly UF and Urban would want no part of it. There's a reason Columbus PD staffed up as soon as Urban was hired...

 

Tim Tebo actually kissed a girl because of Hernandez's influence.

 

I think simply because cheating is cheating. Intentional, and especially if it helps you win. It upsets people.

Whereas for the most part I think people realize that having Hernandez employed and not seeing the warning signs could have happened to any team. Every team at some point or another has taken chances on character. Usually a player is simply lazy and doesn’t progress, or simply gets a DUI or two. Most don’t get accused of murder, ever.
Not to mention this “blemish” was clearly done unintentionally.

Dion Sanders needs to have his bust removed from the HOF. He said they are letting undeserving players in according to him. His lack of tackling ability should have kept him out of the hall. He wasn't a complete player. But how can he say they are watering down the HOF? These players are worthy.

 

I don't agree with Dion but this is what happens when you let a bunch of sports writers decides what is and is not worthy of the hall. There is no real standard other than convincing the other guys to let yours in. I know what my standard is but it's going to be different than yours and both of ours are going to be different from Dion's. There is no real criteria.

 

I don't necessarily think Deion's wrong...and I absolutely disagree with Gid's assessment that Deion's HoF bust should be removed because he wasn't worthy. No, he couldn't tackle. But he was arguably the best pure cover cornerback ever to play. 50+ career INTs, and 5th in INTs returned for a score. On top of that he was one of the game's great punt/kick returners - 6th all-time in combined punt/kickoff returns.

 

There are a lot more teams than there was before, so some players get lost that are HOF worthy. Every season now probably retires at least 5 worthy sometimes more. The HOF should have increased their yearly total to reflect this and not just blow out the line and clear it up all at once.

 

The Steelers are going to have at least 3 players going in the HOF this year and I think someone who played rivalries against the Steelers is just upset. I didn't see anyone on that list for him to bitch about.

 

The one guy that I was kinda bummed about not getting in was Drew Pearson. Does he really have the numbers? No, but he also played in a much different league back then. All I know is that if the Cowboys were behind, you could rest assured that Drew Pearson was going to make some plays in clutch time to get them back into the game or to win it. He was the Cowboys, Lynn Swann to me and should be enshrined.

How history would have been forever changed if Eric Wright hadn't horse collared Drew Pearson in the 1981 NFC Championship game.

 

The horse collar tackle was legal back then.

 

It was, indeed. The point that I am trying to make is the game would have been over if Eric hadn't managed to get his hand on his pads and drag him down. There was no one behind him, the safety had tried to jump the route and missed the pick. He was gone to the house if Wright hadn't got him by the fingertips. It was THIS close to the Cowboys and not the 49ers going to the Super Bowl that year, and Pearson would have been the hero again.

 

You know, I watched that whole game live and the only thing I remember is the catch. I really can't remember 1 other play.

 

How would he know? He didn't even know Kevin Byard was an NFL safety - and he was 1st team All Pro at the time. Called him a "fan". I'd pick several people in here to evaluate talent over Sanders.

 

That was pretty embarrassing and didn’t give Deion a ton of credibility for what he was reviewing each week.
