Ok, now that this has come down to our final scenario of win and clinch #1 we are facing a Browns team that handed the Ravens the last loss they experienced this season. The few extra days seems to have allowed our injuries to heal and Stanley will be active for this game. It seems we will have the full compliment for today's game from an injury perspective. I get the feeling that the team does not like the feeling of losing to this under-achieving Browns team and they are looking to get a little payback and put their stamp on the feeling of losing in the manner in which they did. Last game was a blowout and I think Lamar has something to say about getting paddled the last time they faced each other. I think this game is going to be high flying and there will be lots of points. I think the Ravens win and I also think we see the offense keep the pedal to the floor until the end of the game to make a statement. I think I will predict (uncharacteristically- I usually predict close scores) 38 to 13 Ravens with the chance that is is a bigger gap than that even.
40-25 had to leave a bitter taste in your team’s mouth. If you guys win today you probably rest your starters next week making it easier for the Steelers to win. Hopefully if the Steelers get in they win so they can play you guys in a meaningful game. First things first we got to get in.
I'm torn a bit. The embarrassment of losing to the Browns and in the manner they did caused this team to reel off 10 wins in a row. Can you imagine being swept by them? We might not lose another game for 10 years. There are other factors too that I think about. Winning is great, but do you need a loss sprinkled in there as a reminder of how terrible it is to lose and use that as motivation? If they win this week and the starters go into full playoff preparation, obviously they will sit against the steelers. That's two weeks of rest with the bye, and do you start getting rusty? Do they play the starters for 1 series like the preseason to avoid that, or do they play it smart and not risk anything? Regardless, I'm sure the Ravens are going to come into the game well motivated today. Don't be surprised to see the Browns force feeding Odell. Remember Humphrey dominating him last game? Seeing how Baker and Freddie like to operate, they probably want to make sure Odell has a rebound game too. That probably benefits the Ravens as it means Chubb isn't being fed the ball.
Baltsports, I appreciate you starting the gameday thread this week. In fact, I'd say the rest of the season is yours if you want it. I keep getting distracted. Kid, I am somewhat where you are. I want this team to remember how a loss felt when they were trying to win. By the time the divisional round rolls along, pending they win today, it will have been 3 months since they lost a game they were trying to win. That's potentially a recipe for playoff disaster. We all saw Brady in 07 scoff at the suggestion that a team could hold them to 17 points......then they only scored 14
I wonder if those two TD drives answer the question of "can Lamar and this offense score when down 10 with little time left". That was 2 TD drives, all passes, no RPO or read option, with 0 times outs, both inside the 2 minute warning.
Ravens have gotta too many stops on 3rd and 4th down, only to gave a penalty that gives them the first. This game shouldn't be within 9 points right now
Ravens - 24 Browns - 3 Refs - 12 Good coaching - not the Browns Knows who the Ravens Head Coach is - no one on CBS
The defensive penalties have been a problem the last 3 weeks. That crap will come back to bite you in the playoffs, Clean it up.
Another dominant rush drive to ice the game, Justice Hill I think gets his first TD of the year? 31-15 game is over, 13-2, 1 Seed in the AFC, the road to the Super Bowl will roll through Baltimore!
I don't think there's really creampuff team in the AFC playoffs except maybe whoever wins the 6 seed. On the NFC side the top dogs in San Fran, Seattle, and New Orleans all are tough. The Super Bowl winner isn't going to have it easy.
Congrats to the Ravens on the #1 seed in the AFC! Fantastic season!! Now...any chance you can send Lamar Jackson to play for Houston next weekend? He’s not gonna play for Baltimore so just a thought...I’d appreciate it!
So with 127 rushing yards next week and 56 passing yards, the Ravens will be the first team in NFL history to average 200 passing and 200 rushing yards in a season. That's balance. I think the team needs just 96 rushing yards to be the #1 rush offense in NFL history. The question is, will that happen.
Most likely. The Steelers D is very very good, but this offense hasn't been held for under 150 all season I don't think. In the end, the Ravens Offense will set records.
I hate to drop this one on ya Mano, but the Raiders can still sneak in here and steal the 6th seed. This is what has to happen next week because EVERY game went Oakland's way this week so it all comes down to next week. They are as follows Week 17 Raiders beat Broncos Browns beat Bengals Ravens beat Steelers Texans beat Titans Colts beat Jaguars IF all these end up this way next week, the Oakland Raiders will be the 6th seed and quite honestly? I can see exactly this scenario happening with the way each team has been playing lately.
I don't think the Browns - Bengals game will have any impact on playoff spots. Both are officially eliminated. The only thing that game will affect is how quickly Ohio U-Haul dealers run out of inventory.
