You do that in order to make it to make it to the playoffs. The problem is you increase the odds of another early departure with a worn out goalie. I think the weight is entirely on Dubas now that they’ve moved on from Babs. I think the Leafs are structurally almost doomed for disappointment. I think they need a roster restructuring, and they’d better consider that sooner than later. JT is untouchable. AM is too good despite his shortcomings to move on from*. That means Nylander or Kap have to be featured in a package for RHD and an NHL-ready (read “cost-contained”) prospect. Ideally a young goalie would go to T.O. too. (* Obviously the Leafs know their locker room better than anyone else. Is AM truly happy to be a Leaf? My guess is that he is. But, if there’s a chance that he’s not then the team would get an incredible haul, and salvage their cap situation at the same time. This is highly unlikely, but note that “if”.) WTFDIK?
