The Sabres found a way to shut down Tyson Barrie, and the Leafs had no answer for Jimmy Vesey. Those were the keys to the game. I didn’t watch it, but it looks like it was a good competitive game. When Buffalo plays their game for all 60 they’ll win more than they lose. That’s the good news. The bad news is that instincts (which translate to losing play) takes over too much. The Sabres will need a minimum of a half season to internalize Krueger’s system. More likely, they aren’t executing consistently until next season. The next game should be fun.
The leafs have no backup goalie, Hutch can't stop a beachball. If they don't get a backup they'll be in trouble, as they need someone to start at least twenty games and they can't just lose them.
Believe it or not, they really can't pay much more than $750K and Miller get's $1.125M, although I'm sure they would figure something out if they had to. I like Alex Stalock, he get's paid $750K and the Wild are bottom feeding this year. He's from Minny, so that could be a problem in getting him over here.
Leafs have nobody in the system, from Sparks last year, Hutchinson, Kaskisuo and Woll isn't panning out with the Marlies.
He was playing hurt before recovering from a broken finger. That was a close one, Hutton played a good game.
What happened to Mikheyev? He was on his way to being the talk of the town, he even got me into eating soup (I even lost 7 lbs).
What a dud of a game, 1-1 halfway through the 3rd. I shut the tv off after the EN goal that made it 4-1, was shocked at the 6-1 final. Matthews playing with no heart and JT doesn't seem to have a personality that's geared toward being a captain.
