Bethel is in because Canady and Elliott are both being checked out

Jimmy Smith is the team's MVP, People want to get rid of him but damn if whenever he isn't on the field, that the Ravens D totally forgets how to cover people, they forget to get third down stops, etc etc.

Well closer than it needed to be, but another win in the books. 4-2 going into the meat of the schedule. They have GOT to play better D or this season will be going south in a hurry. The easy part of the year is over with, nothing but rough games upcoming.

A win is a win, but that score doesn't feel like it reflects the game. The Ravens are going to need more than 23 to beat good teams with the defense they have.

I've said this same thing multiple times. Man I can't wait until Jimmy is back and up to speed

ok, so overall it was great to get the win and the game was nowhere near as close as the final score. There were a couple of things that I was curious about.

    1. Why were we able, in the 4th quarter, to get massive pressure on about 3 or 4 straight plays but could barely muster a whiff of it earlier in the rest of the whole game? I think we blew up Dalton on 3 straight plays and we were sitting in the stadium all looking at each other wondering where that came from and why did we not do that all game?

    2. Why are we still getting pass happy in the middle of the game? They could not stop the run yet we stopped it for them by not even attempting running plays for a few drives in a row. It's almost like Roman is trying to prove the point that Lamar can pass the ball anytime he wants (which is not always true)

    3. We sure need Jimmy back. I heard it above but man outside of Humphrey, our remaining CB's are pretty poor. Averett, Carr and Canady were getting TORCHED all game. At one point we were calling the play and result before the snap. "8 yard out on Canady's side, complete for the first down!"

    4. I like Bozeman when they have him pull and put him out front of the play. We seem to have tremendous success but he does commit a lot of penalties. I hope he gets better as he gets seasoning. I think he can be successful but needs a lot of work on his technique.

    5. Not sure why we don't run that slant play a lot more often. That seems to work most all the time but we never seem to put it out there. The deep slant to Boykin was a great start, but then we went away from it. Especially with Boykin's size and speed, he should be able to run that successfully multiple times a game.

In my opinion, the city's overall expectations for Lamar are a little to lofty at this point. He has not played a full season yet, but people expect him to be exactly the same as Russell Wilson or some other veteran QB. I think he will get better and better as he works with the receivers and establishes more connection with them. They are yet to really recognize when he scrambles and what they need to do or how to break away to give him improv targets. I also think Lamar will hone his decision making and start to get better and better at when to pull the hand off back and when to let the RB take it and go versus running himself or passing the ball.

I think the fan base needs to let him grow and hone his skills and keep the expectations in check just a bit. I think he is immensely talented and will continue to improve but it will take a little bit of time.

First things first, I guess Elliott is going to be done for the season with a knee injury. The secondary and depth keeps taking hits, but more importantly, Elliot has spent about 90% of his games on IR.

Second, I said the Ravens defense was the most embarrassing thing in the NFL yesterday, but that was until I turned on the Chargers game last night where they were losing 24-0 with a minute left in the 3rd quarter playing a prime time game at home against a team that only defeated the winless Bengals with a 3rd string QB who didn't even make the opening roster. This is while the Chargers also were starting their knocking-on-the-door HoF hopeful at QB. That's embarrassing.

I don't know how I view Canaday's day. I'd look at it as an average day, but I think he was bad enough for the coaches to pull him. The Bengals admitted they were going after him all game long, and they certainly did. Someone elsewhere was calling for Averett to play in place of Carr (who has also been terrible), but Averett is so bad that he's been benched these past 2 games. I believe if not for the injuries all across the secondary that he'd have been released right alongside Tim Williams.

I feel like after McPhee's penalty at the end of the game that the pass rush started to get lively, but it's still a sham. I noticed in that series that McPhee was exclusively used to rush up the middle.

No idea why they stopped playing Boykin. He has been so bad in games that you want to build momentum for the kid and give him confidence. He seemed like he was having a fine game, and then he was never heard from again.

    Follow up . . .

He was identified, escorted out of the stadium, this morning had his season ticket(s) revoked and will be banned from the stadium.

Yeah I think they found him immediately. They showed someone pissed and walking down the aisle on the broadcast immediately after it happened. If it wasn't him, then someone else got a bit of undesired notoriety.

Woah huge trade! Ravens get Marcus Peters and send Kenny Young to the Rams.

    Kenny Young and a 5th

It's a steal for the Ravens. You get a proven Pro Bowl corner for a guy that's been benched for unemployed and cut LBs due to his inconsistent play.

  17. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

Yup. For those that are PFF fans, Peters is rated the #14 CB. He's on his 5th year option and I think the Ravens traded the 5th we got for the kicker Veldcic (however you spell it). So it eas a 5th we stole anyway.

I wonder, if they extend Peters, what it means for Jimmy. A switch to safety or gone from the team soon?

  18. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

It's really a win/win with draft picks. The idea might be that they attempt to sign Peters long term who surely has a better injury history than Smith. If that falls through, they also attempt to resign Smith. If both those fall through, they probably get two 3rd round comp picks or a 3rd and a 4th the following season for the losses.

Peters relies on a good pass rush to hurry QBs up and make mistakes. Last I heard you guys don't have much of a pass rush

  20. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

That's where you heard wrong. We don't have ANY pass rush.
