Mack missed a lot of plays at the end of Sundays game. The pass rush was definitely weak and the Broncos stacked two long drives. Pass rush depth is never a bad thing.

Is this because we lost Nichols to an injury?

Was watching the highlights again and thought id link these points up cos there's a couple of things to note:

Both plays happen one after the other starting at 4.15

On the Patterson run Daniels' job is to immediately take a step across and setup a seal block, which he does. Whitehair's job is to get straight up the field and find/block the ILB on the 2nd level. Whitehair gets upfield & outside the hash mark and engages his man 3yards past the LOS. 10yards past the LOS and Whitehair is still walking his man backwards and right out the play. This was a near 50yard gain, if Whitehair had slipped off his block it would've been a 6-7yard gain.

The Gabriel play: This time its Whitehair's job to seal and Daniels' job to engage the same ILB at the 2nd level. Daniels goes straight upfield and meets the LB 2yards past the LOS but for some reason has his hands down allowing the LB to use his own hands to maintain distance and Daniels slips straight off the block. Its this very same LB who ends up tackling Gabriel. The result was a 14yard gain and all looks good. But if Daniels makes his block its more, possibly even a TD.

At another point in the game(not on highlights) the Bears called an A-Gap run with Daniels again going straight up to the 2nd level to secure the LB(maybe the same guy) and this time he didn't even slip off, the dude just ran around him, plugged the gap and stopped Monty for a 1 yard gain. Conclusion: Mobility is not Daniels' friend. Which I guess we kinda knew last year too cos he couldn't get across on pulls from the G position.

BONUS NOTE: Watch that Patterson run just one more time focusing on Leno and you will see a DB knock him the fuck out! I couldn't believe id missed this, Leno must have at least 100lbs on that little fucker and yet he gets sat straight down! HOW?!! Leno you are one soft motherfucker. Generally speaking Leno had a terrible game sunday, particularly in the run game.

Tim is there a way to get this video to play here? I thought we could watch embedded youtube content on this site now?

I tried embedding it here too Ev but it wouldn't work for me either. That's really strange. Or maybe it's not strange.

For what it's worth, I can see the embedded highlight video. And you're 100% right on those calls, Ev. Good stuff, man.

Edit: I was opening it separately, through Youtube. So I didn't actually watch the video in-site. That makes more sense, now. Sorry.

The NFL won't let any of there content be played on this site.

We rank in the top 20,000 sites now, so flying under the radar and getting away with the little things won't be happening anymore, lol.

Ah okay, that's what I was wondering about Tim. It's all good, people can find it over on YouTube if they need to.

We have the TOP site in the UNIVERSE so we should be pretty proud. You're the man Tim!

If you click play on the video it should give you a link to follow with a message that the content has been blocked from this site.

Yes, that's exactly what I got. A lot of times I get something like that with a message that the video can't play in my country which is hard to understand since I can always manage to climb to the top of my internet tower (50' up from the roof) and hold the 2 wires together for better reception ...

Nice work on this Ev yeah I was thinking the same thing if he stays on that block his momentum would have carried him into the endzone.

If you want to see a good breakdown on how absolute crap Leno has been playing check this out. It’s a little long but worth it.

That was a truly amazing breakdown.

Great find Rob, but Jesus Mary and Joseph!! I clearly underplayed just how bad Leno was in that game. This is a fucking horror show! I know if you go over a game forensically you can find several plays of most OL's where they could've done better. But there's a lot of huge mistakes from Leno here, and his general attitude is one of a total pussy, which i hate.

There's a better angle of him getting smacked out tho which he/we deserve.

And that other fail by Daniel's on the 2nd level block that i referenced previously but had no video, thats here too. Its at 5.17.

Two final thoughts about this video:

1- Monty comes out of this vid smelling of absolute roses! I've quietly liked what ive seen from him so far but this shows just how well he's done. Most of Monty's yards are coming purely off his own back on plays where the blocking has broken down. His vision on these runs and instantaneous feel for when/where he needs to bounce it, is very impressive. Good footwork, gets thru arm tackles too.

The only reason we don't have any highlight reel runs from him yet is cos he never has just one tackle to break. There are routinely multiple breakdowns on the OL and its just too many defenders.

2- On the missed throw to a wide open Gabriel which we've already talked about, this narrator is adamant the fault lies with Gabriel. Afraid i just dont agree with that. Gabriel is WIDE open. Trubisky has so much room to put that ball where it would've been catchable. Maybe Gabriel could've shown better positioning/body control, but his margin for error is way smaller than Trubisky's. Its really not even close.

    A world of trouble.
