  1. They're calling the Stars the big winners of the day, (Perry, Pavelski,Sekera), three vets.

3 Vets passed their prime Skinny........

    Perry............34 yrs
    Pavelski.......34 yrs
    Sekera.........33 yrs

We all know how difficult playing Hockey can be on our bodies.......the older you get the worse it is.....injuries become long term.

Only time will tell........But I'm thinking the Stars will regret taking these 3.

is Dallas signing Pavelski as the 2C the same as when they signed Spezza a few years back?

He's getting top 6 money, most likely, 38 goals last year.

Pavelski still scores, maybe not in year 3. Sekera is good to have for vet leadership for the D and Perry is a low-risk gamble.

In my opinion, yes. Nill's depth move to add some scoring.

Jumbo Joe, Maroon, Kronwall, Jake Gardiner, all still out there.

gotta assume its SJ or nowhere for Thornton
Maroon has to stay in StL
Kronwall is an interesting one. I wonder if he wants to jump on a contender for a last shot.
    Gardiner will be overpaid somewhere.

Johansson, Ferland, Vanek, Sheahan, Phaneuf, Methot, Nichuskin, Boyle, Dzingel,

    Yes.

He's almost a perfect fit for the team's situation.

This should help the Sabres anemic secondary scoring. Buffalo signed winger Marcus Johansson to a 2 year $9MM contract. Term & AAV give no quarrel; hopefully he can stay healthy. I think Botterill and Krueger have found their middle-six winger.

Now, if they can find a middle-six C - preferably a 2C for this season to give Casey Middlestadt at least a season of seasoning at a more protected role - Buffalo might be ready to be taken seriously.

Oh, Dylan Cozens is expected to miss about three months after thumb surgery. The #7 overall pick's chance of landing in Buffalo this October now seems highly unlikely. I do not want to appear overly optimistic about a setback, but I think this may be a good thing for his career. I caught a Lethbridge game this year and his size & speed cannot be questioned. He has the frame of an intimidating center, but he has not grown into it. He's too young (as a CHLer) for the AHL and I think that league can actually hinder very young players. Now there won't be much angst over sending him back to the WHL for a year of learning and for hitting the weight room.

Marcus Johansson at 2 x $4.5, good team deal. Market dried up for him I guess. He’s well worth that number as long as he’s on the ice. Seemed to be a good team player and he’s bigger and stronger than what I had expected. Good get, I’m shocked he could only get 2 years.

He was someone I had my eye on, for sure. I thought he'd get 4 years. Of course getting a free trip back to Sweden in November probably clinched this for Buffalo.

There are a few prospects that could push for a roster spot this year. I like that this takes the pressure off any of them needing to be ready that soon. (Although I think Alex Nylander needs to be in Buffalo - it's time to find out if he will help the team. Or not.)

Any idea what a Binnington deal is gonna look like? Just throwing something against the wall here.... 3 x $4.5 ???

And what do you give a Joe Thornton? He was asked by a teammate if he had change for a hundred, he responded that hundreds are change.

The Binnington deal sounds fair for both parties.
    I would give Thornton 2 yrs/$4M.

3 x 4.5 sounds fair to me and the owner is willing to pay him a big raise too. Move Allen and his 4.5 and it gets easier for the Blues.
lol, don't her those words too often from a GM.

Good question... $5M seems steep, hopefully he's not the greedy type.
