I still check out this site once in a while. Where did everyone go? This used to be a busy time for the message board.
You're cracking on Edmunds and only 1 rookie in the entire league played more than Edmunds' 1190 snaps last year (Q. Nelson). He was 11th in the entire NFL in snaps - as a rookie. You think he was getting things done or you think the Steelers were just putting them out there on the field for shits and giggles? The guy is going to be a very good pro and you're not even paying attention. And I won't even get in to Rudolph other than the guy who runs this site and has put 1000s of hours into evaluating talent had him as his #1 QB. Doesn't mean he was the #1 prospect and doesn't mean Tim has never been wrong but for you to suggest that none of the other 31 teams in the NFL had him as a 1st round talent is a pretty foolish suggestion. Obviously you couldn't possibly back up that claim.
And therein lies the problem with so many Steelers fans in here. One liners and hyperbole have replaced open-mindedness, objectivity and common sense.
I didn’t say Edmunds wasn’t going to be good. Most draft sites had him as a 3rd round projection. Could the Steelers have got him in the second round?
Me too. It's idiotic comments like this - that because 31 teams didn't draft a QB in the 1st two rounds means they didn't have Rudolph graded as a first round pick. I mean did you really think the Browns, Bills, Jets and Cardinals might double dip and draft another QB in round 2? Did you think the Bears, Texans and Chiefs would go QB again after drafting one in 2017? Did the Rams and Eagles need another QB after taking Goff and Wentz in '16? How about the Falcons, Panthers, Cowboys, Lions, Colts, Packers, Vikings, Raiders, 49ers and Seahawks? You think they would be wiling to take a QB in the 1st or 2nd round instead of drafting a player that actually could get on the field and help them? Could you imagine the reaction QBs like Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Dak Prescott, Matt Stafford, Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Jimmy Garroppolo (just traded for), Kirk Cousins (just signed) and Russell Wilson might have had if their team invested a 1st or 2nd round pick in another QB? Remember how Ben reacted when we invested a 3rd? And Ben is 37 years old. You see the hole in your logic yet? The Steelers haven't drafted a QB in the 1st or 2nd round in 15 years. Does that mean they've never graded someone as a 1st round talent? Heck, probably the best example is the fact that the Steelers had him graded in the 1st round and still took two players ahead of him. Doesn't that tell you all you need to know about how a team might grade a player vs. who they may select based on other needs?
Yet another idiotic assumption. Many of the people that "left" here are friends of mine on Facebook. And they don't post here because of all the ridiculous hyperbole and shitty hot takes from a group of posters that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I take it you're standing by your statement that the Steelers were the only team with a 1st round grade on Rudolph because 31 teams passed on him in the 1st two rounds?
Well, thanks for spreading your joy, non-oversimplifications and ability to agree to disagree on our board over here again (sarc button off). Really, I've noticed attendance is down on many Steelers' message boards - seems to correlate with Art2's rhetoric, Tomlin's circus, diva players, bad drafting, Big Ben lofting balls to the other team, the NFL becoming more unwatchable, the frequency of Beach-like posts occcuring etc etc etc. Anyways, I like this board with or without Mr Beach and his facebook friends.
Well, I think I'm going to try to put a positive spin on this whole thing. There are players out there, with no fault of the team, destroy chemistry and solidarity. Do the the Steelers have leadership issues? To some extent, yes. Did Brown and Bell make it worse? There can be no doubt. But they're gone now. This is a team that has completely turned over an old roster and is now very young, with a few exceptions. This shows that Colbert has done a nice job of drafting talent and Tomlin has done a good job of developing it. Yeah, they had a collapse last year but for four years straight they went to the playoffs and every year that Tomlin's been here they've been in the mix. I think they will be this year too. I get the whole "JuJu only does well because AB was there" shtick but I disagree with it. JuJu is good because he is talented and works hard. He'll do fine as a #1. Washington will step up as will Switzer and Rogers. Connor will get even better. This offense will be fine. The defense made strides early and regressed a bit but I think they can get better and I have no doubt they will. Tomlin is capable of hard-nosed coaching. We saw it in 07 and I think we'll see it again because he knows we need to see it. How can we berate a coach that has had this kind of success. He's doing something right. I think we're going to see a quiet team that goes about it's business this year. The two biggest distractions are gone. Just wait and see. Stay positive.
