AB now with ZERO trade value.......

Gilbert is going to the Cardinals for a 6th round pick. Clears 5 million of cap space.

I think Antonio Brown is about to find out he won't be playing anywhere but Pittsburgh next season or he's out of football and paying to retire.

Read an article about how Jake Plummer had to pay the Bucs a prorated potion of his signing bonus when he retired rather than play for them after being traded to them.

The article says the Steelers could recover 11.4 million from Antonio Brown if retires rather than play. That 11.4 million would be credited back to future cap space.

I hate to say it...but this could end up a case where Brown shows up so that he doesn't have to pay anything back and does just enough that the Steelers are forces to cut him, or pay him his money while doing very little. His psyche right now is volatile, there's no telling what he will do if forces to come back to this locker room. I hate the Steelers, but I feel for you guys in this situation.

Plus his $12.5 million base salary he's scheduled to make in 2019. I'd MUCH rather have NO AB this year, no draft pick for him, but then get back $23 million in cap space for 2020.

At this point, I agree. Trading is off the table for now, and he either shows up or retires..He's killed his trade value, when they had a deal in place he sabotaged it. There was a report of a 2nd and 4th from Oakland, I'd consider taking it if it is still on the table...if not, hang on to him and he either plays or retires.

You guys are saying he either plays or retires but you're forgetting the option where he shows up just to get a check but half asses every play he can. That's the worst case scenario imo. Have to keep paying him, and keep a roster spot for him, only to watch him intentionally hold the team back

Disagree, RR1. That's our BEST case scenario. :p

I could be wrong but I dont think his competitive nature would allow him to half ass it. For all his crazy Brown is one of the hardest working players in the nfl when it comes to staying in shape and playing

And if he does that you can suspend or deactivate (and not pay him), and lack of production will only hurt his trade value, making him even less appealing.......and less likely.........to be traded next Spring. The Steelers can ALSO make his life miserable, and its time that players and their agents realize this and KNOW that some teams are willing to do it if forced to. Again, I'd feel differently if we're talking someone coming in to the last year of his contract, that the franchise has played hardball with before..........then cut bait or trade for whatever you can and move on. But AB has THREE YEARS LEFT on a contract, and the organization has bent over backwards and protected him on any number of fronts in the past. And the fact that he STILL..............after all that.........wants to poison the well intentionally to try and get cut and then sign where HE wants to go on HIS terms............sorry, can't allow that to happen. Not for the organization, or the league. And every team owner, media pundit, and the NFL front offices should be in their corner on this.

And he'll get REAL TIRED and PISSED at all the questions about his decrease in production and insinuations that he just doesn't have it any more............real quick!

Pretty sure at that point they could suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team. In my case, its likely frustration getting the better of me. I truly don't want the team I cheer for to be petty, and up until very recently I really wanted the team and AB to reconcile but its well past the point of no return. If he handled this differently, I'd be ok with him picking his destination...

Dulac said a deal is imminent, likely with the Raiders. Preliminary guesses are a 2 and a 4

AB wants to be close to Hollywood. He’s been doing some different tv shows lately. He probably thinks that he is the next NFL player turned actor.

Did you post that on his twitter page?

Nope, paraphrased the report off SteelersDepot.

AB used to be one of my favorite players. I don’t really care about him anymore, he’s just a big dipstick now. I want him traded don’t want any more BS this coming season.

Someone on Wikipedia clearly having fun tonight.............we traded AB for the first 7 picks in the draft. At this rate, we'll have the first 16 overall picks by morning, with each team getting to have AB for one week next season!!

At this point I would be happy with Oakland’s 2nd and 4th round picks.

I'd "accept" Oakland's 2nd/4th............I'd be HAPPY with their 2nd/3rd. That 2nd rounder for Oakland is the 3rd pick overall of the round. If they wanted to, they could easily move back into the end of the 1st round (anywhere from picks 26-32) without having to give up more than one of their (would be) two 4th rounders, and get someone they really want that may have fallen a bit (maybe ILB Mack Wilson if White/Bush both go top-20?.....one of top-4 corners?, a preferred wideout to replace AB) and if that person is legit, they'd get him with a 5th year option down the road.

  19. How many years does AB have left on his contract?
