This Pro Bowl is embarrassing. If they’re going to run around at half speed and not hit each other, just stay home and make this an honorary thing. What a joke.
Watching them not even put players on the ground when they tackle is just pitiful. If they are going to play two hand touch why bother putting the pads on?
You can tell when the game itself is truly meaningless. No one is bitching about the officiating the next day.
They honestly should play flag football. Or just make the whole weekend skill competitions. The game is completely unwatchable.
Ratings don't seem to matter anyway. The ratings were down the last 4 years and only this past Pro Bowl increased with 8.6 million viewers and that was across 2 networks, ABC and ESPN. Besides, even if the rating were low, I doubt the brain trust behind this would do the right thing and change the game. These guys have nothing to play for... their already in the NFL, the game is basically meaningless and just for media hype in general. Maybe if they played for something like a million dollar payout to a world charity, id give them the benefit of the doubt, but the way it stands, that game is an embarrassment.
How many players are on each team? Have a payout of 1 million dollars per player and coach total in the game, and then let the winning team take 100% of it. Two million each player and coach on the winning team ought to make them play better.
The one thing that would make every single fan more upset than how bad this game is... Spoiler: You would hate it if... One of your team's players had a significant injury during this meaningless game. No one cares who wins, it's just a way of giving the Super Bowl teams a two week break before the big game. It's one last chance to see your favorite players before the long layoff, doesn't matter if they put together a 20 carry 150 yard game against the best defense in the NFL. It's all meaningless. It's just a fanfare.
The reason they don't play balls out is because of injuries. No player is gonna risk an injury in a meaningless game that will cost him money later. You think a player is gonna salivate at a 1 million dollar reward when his next contract could be worth 15 to 25 million a year?
Yeah and if there were any players earning less than 2 mil per season they are probably on rookie deals and therefore probably looking at a substantial raise in the future with their next deal....and, again, they aren't gonna risk that for 1 meaningless game that no one cares about. So you're still wrong.
I'd definitely tune in if they kept the voting results a secret and just had an announcement ceremony. Another idea that I think would draw attention would be if they made an NFC and afc scout team all star team and they play against one another instead of the pro bowlers. I guarantee you they'd play balls to the wall.
