It’s not all bad...

    Packers just fired Mike McCarthy.

    So there’s that.

Most likely the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

It will be interesting to see where the Packers begin their coaching search, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bieniemy was near the top of their list.

Doing what we should have done to John Fox after the Packers loss at home last year.

But honestly I don't care. I'm still pissed about today and that the Bears got my hopes up that we might be an actual contender only to crush them as usual.

Today crushed those hopes? That was not our field general out there today. I don’t see how a game with the backup QB can sway you that much. At
Least see how a Trubisky plays down the stretch.

McCarthy getting canned is good news. I really did hate that guy.

Yeah, I’m with Rob on this one.

Easy blanger! We win that game with ease if Mitch plays.

That and every other north team lost today so we’re fine.

I know we do. But he didn't play and we lost and the defense deserves a good chunk of the blame. 23 points allowed to a 3-8 team only averaging 21.

Why is this good news for us? If anything the Packers death spiral would have continued as long as he was around. Now they actually might get their shit together these last couple of games.

Yeah, the defense was to blame partially. But again, the offense did them NO favors.

Mitch plays, the offense scores more, stays on the field more, defense can play with more of an edge and with fresher legs.

    It’s fine.

And likely not have given the Giants the ball (as much) or points.

It's a team failure. The defense let up in OT. So very similar to the Miami game, a clearly inferior team outplaying the Bears. My blame list still starts with Nagy though. That TO was inexcusable. If you're taking it because you think you'll get a stop, then take it immediately. If you're going to locker room, let them run the clock down to the one play. They were mailing it in, and Barkley's 15 yard run would have just ended the half. They came out PUMPED in the second, and some of that is due to that momentum shift.

It's good for us because the Packers might be better, but they are one loss away from being eliminated and the worse a draft pick, the better. It's also good for us because McCarthy has had the Bears damn number.

Yep, and the Trestman loss in GB. At least those cheesedicks have a sense of self-worth. McCarthy was failing all season then took an embarrassing loss and performance at home that should never have happened, so they canned his ass. Give me that over the spineless "we don't fire HC's during the season" crap from our ownership.

Most humiliating loss ive ever seen was that 55-10 and instead of firing Trestman the second the whistle blew, ownership just dropped their pants and took it.

I feel the same way. I really don't care much except to say i don't get why people are happy about this. I was looking forward to Fatty McFatface getting fired.....just after the Bears game! That would've been a win given the state they're in, now who knows. Why are people pleased about this.

But mostly im still pissed. That was a crushing loss. I didn't think Nagy would be able to have a worse performance than week 1, but this might be it. People saying Trubisky is back next week.... 1- Thats an assumption at this point. 2- So is the HC! You need to go back and look at this game and break down Nagy's play, cos his playcalling and personnel choices were consistently HORRIBLE!

Example 1: After working hard to establish Howard in the 1st half, and succeeding, Nagy gave him two carries in the second half. TWO! How does that possibly happen?? Especially when its clear your QB is having a really bad day.

The one silver lining is the entire rest of the division lost too. The first round bye is gone, but i was never a believer in that anyway so no a big loss.

Oh and its always funny to me how people can't wait to get up the Defense's ass. They gave up 17points in regulation. They weren't blown out. They would've pitched a shutout in the 1st half if their coach hadn't screwed them. They had 3 sacks, multiple 3 & outs and a pick. They gave up a drive in OT, yes. They were tired. It happens when you spend most of the game carrying the Offense.

This is NOT on the Defense! Its on the HC and the Daniel in that order.

We set our own selves up for this disappointment as well. After last week's win the prevailing attitude towards the Giants game was either, "If we lose it's not a big deal" to "We're going to crush the inferior Giants".

    Any given Sunday ...

McCarthy got fired, after Ted Thompson got demoted. So far, this Gutkuenst (or however you spell their GM's name) isn't an idiot. The better part is, Mike Pettine is a great DC, and their personnel sucks (sans Daniels and the two rookie DBs), but with his job in limbo, sticking around packerland may not be in his future, and there may not be better DCs out there. Of course like Fangio (who the trib jumped on being a possible replacement up there to McCarthy), the new HC could keep.

Personally, I think Hue Jackson is a solid choice for that team.

Myself and numerous other posters have been saying for years, for as bad as the bears have been drafting, personnel decisions, and talent wise over the past seven years, the Packers have been bad too, arguably worse. Except Rodgers is a HOF QB who can make stars out of trash (except he looks very human this year), and he's made chicken salad of chicken shit multiple times. Due to the gross parity and lack of NFC North chutzpah, they've won the division frequently with inferior talents sans QB, only to be exposed in the playoffs by better teams because better teams don't let Aaron Rodgers have the last possession with the game on the line.

I see the McCarthy firing as a bad thing. The team had quit on him. Rodgers had quit on him.

I saw the Packers game as a slam dunk win.

    Now, I don't.

How did you feel about the Giants game after the Lions game Mongo?

I am interested in how much of s real look Pettine will get in his interim role. I'm sure the Packers will seek an offensive minded coach to make Rodgers happy but Pettine actually improved the defense this season.

I gotta imagine Jose McDaniels would be interested in this job.

Zac Taylor is certainly a name that will get some mention. Probably both Harbaughs...John and Jim. And I'm certain Lincoln Riley's name is gonna be hot.

I alwas thought the Giants had a lot of weapons on offense and their talent level was higher than their overall record.

    I didn't take them lightly.

    I think Nagy did.

Every player on that team is now viewng the remaining 4 games as an audition for their new coach...
