Why let the other team know for sure your starting quarterback is out? Putting doubt in the Giants prep about who the starter is can only help us.
Good news: Trubisky was throwing today for the first time since the injury. Sounds like he is indeed making progress. Hopefully he'll be ready next week.
Agreed. And I think that's what he's doing. I was countering all the people (not on here) who were saying how dumb it was that he ruled him out so early in the week. Turns out, he's still not ruled "out".
The Bears never said that if the game was Sunday that Mitch could have played. That was an assumption by the media who gave the “team source” BS. It was soon after reported that not only was the thanksgiving game a no go but there was no guarantee that the Giants game would be the return of Trubisky. Again this is the media reading the tea leaves. Not any official reporting from the Bears. Nagy is vague when it comes to injuries but from everything I have read he hasn’t lied. He has refused to put any timeline on his return so anything we read about that is speculation. IMO Nagy needs to make his decision between going with a fully healthy Daniels with a full week of prep VS a less than 100% Trubisky who would be playing on zero practice reps.
Actually Nagy said in a short presser before the Thanksgiving game that had the game been Sunday he's confident Mitch would be healthy enough to play. But with the short week there wasn't enough time for Mitch to shake off the effects on the minor injury. I was watching him say pretty much exactly that. He said Mitch's injury was minor and not a big deal. Barring a massive change between now and game time tomorrow the team's franchise QB will now miss 2 games. I'd classify that as more than a minor injury and certainly a big deal. So, yes, he lied.
Trust you to focus on the semantics when there's something worthwhile to discuss Rob. Yes, the Bears didn't officially state that Mitch could've played on the sunday, well done. As for media reading tea leaves, i first saw that statement from Rapsheet. So to be clear thats not some clickbait nobody site and its not a complete hack like LaCanfora. Rapoport is one of the most connected reporters in the league, he's widely respected. Wrong. Nagy stated on the monday or tuesday before the Lions game that Trubisky was day to day and said he was "cautiously optimistic" he would play. Mitch then went over a week without even lifting his arm above his head. IF he makes it back for the Rams game it will be 3 weeks since the injury. Thats not a minor injury and its not day to day. Its week to week. If you're less offended by the term "less than truthful" then knock yourself out. But to me, Nagy basically lied.
Getting to the game great stuff by everyone. I tend to disagree with the Giants not quitting. I think they are ripe for a downward spiral. The first half of this game just might set that off. OBJ is back to complaining about not getting the ball. Shurmur is under a constant barrage of when will you look at other QB questions. Last week the score was close but Eli was throwing agains an Eagles secondary missing 4 starters and he still couldn’t get it done in the second half. Like everyone has stated stop the run, rush Eli and our defense might out score our offense. On offense I’m looking for Burton to bounce back and for Tarik to terrorize a weak LB crew. Need this game for bragging rights. Was supposed to be going. Press box seats. Unfortunately it’s same as my anniversary and my wife isn’t as big on football as myself.
Dude that's so fucked up. I think you need to come up with a good loophole clause that she could buy into, like I don't know I want a divorce or I got this chick at work pregnant. That should put a damper on the festivities on the day, and then after the game tell her it was a <insert whatever year the anniversary is here> and tell her I'm sorry it was a fucked up family tradition.
Hey so since Chase did so well with so little preparation the last game, I'm hoping to really see him shine today. He's had ample time to prepare so this might be a pretty amazing game. If he's as solid as he looked against the Lions and with more preparation, this guy could really make a difference. It would be pretty cool to have a backup QB who is a solid choice if Trubs gets injured. Fack. I hope I didn't just jinx the whole damn thing.
As Mongo said before, the best case scenario is we have a full blown QB controversy on our hands tomorrow.
Meaning that Chase plays so well that some fans/media want to debate whether he should be starting over Trubs.
It is bad news, for him and his prospects of continuing to be an NFL player. Despite my pessimism when it comes to him i thought he would at least be able to see the field or remain on the active roster, even if he didn’t live up to his high pick status. No way else to call it, a complete bust and whiff by Pace.
