It would have been a 54 yard field goal attempt which why try a 50 plus if you dont have to. Punting from the 37 is practically worthless as you are likely getting a touch back and the eagles get the ball on 20. The last time I checked its the defenses job to stop the offense and the offense job is to score. When and where int he game doesn't really change the equation. egales players are pissed you say well maybe they should look in the mirror. Look the eagles arent as bad as the seahawks secondary but they did a shit ton of talking after winning the super bowl now their feeling are hurt cause Brees broke it off in them? Get real just do your job and stop the offense.


BTW from a stand point of strategy it makes a tone of sense to make that play. Why you ask because 7 weeks from now in the playoffs in a tie or close game if the Saints are in a 4th and short the Defensive coordinator of team X is going to have in the back of his mind if I stack the line they are just going to go deep on me like they did the eagles.

 

This is the best explanation I've heard thus far. But let me add this. That was Sean Payton being Sean Payton. He does things like this. It'll drive me nuts sometimes. But, love him or hate him. There's never a dull moment with this guy.
