Doubled down, I guess. I am one happy Browns fan today. A WIN Streak! A Road Win!, A Divisional Win! A 4th Win in the same season! A Revenge Win. A Coaching Staff over 500. No sacks. No Interceptions. Wow! A few too many penalties, allowed a back up QB to score 2 TDs, and taking their foot off the gas in the 4th quarter. Quibbling. Nice game boys. On to Houston.
Bakers numbers are UP , The stupid undisciplined penalties are DOWN Since Hueless & Haley got canned . Williams has this team playing well . IMHO Williams is making a strong case to be the HC ! Feeling pretty good about this franchise . its been a long time coming .
After the Browns 3rd straight drive for a TD to open up a 21-0 lead, this is what popped into my head:
IT WAS A FREAKING HANDSHAKE...and non hug. Get over it, I'm sure Baker has already moved on. Why do the national guys have to make all the "reporting" negative? This should have been about all of the things he did right in the game, yet they take a very negative approach to the 2 seconds immediately following the game, and talk about it for ten minutes. The guy didn't want to hug the guy that was just in his locker room and went to the other locker room that they will face 2 out of the next 5 weeks. If this game didn't cement the Bengals decision to NOT hire Hue as their next head coach, then they deserve him and I hope they keep him for the next 15 years like they have Marvin.
I hope they keep piling on. Evidently, they've never heard of this Baker Mayfield guy who plays with a literal boulder on his shoulder and keeps a record of people who have wronged, doubted, or trashed him. It fuels him to greater things.
I think it had more to do with his comments after the game then the hand shake. I must admit at first I didn’t like how Baker handled the situation. It came across as childish. But after really thinking about the situation I think Baker took it easy on his old coach. All the talking heads are like “Hue was fired he didn’t leave”. “He has every right to find a job” “Baker needs to realize this is how business works in the NFL”. Blah blah blah. Most people are forgetting the shit Hue talked after he was fired. Taking about the other QB’s he wanted to take. So if I’m Baker I’m like fuck this guy. No love loss.
The face you make when you agree with a Bears fan: To be fair, they're not forgetting... they're intentionally ignoring. He's a relentless self-promoter and king of revisionist history. Baker called him out for what he was... fake. 1999 - 2017 Cleveland Browns: *kicked around by the entire league* Media (et al): "Haha... Browns gonna Browns." Baker Mayfield: "F**k that." Media (et al):
Thanks for all the well wishes fellas. We are all very excited about the new addition... Pretty sure I am too young to be a Grandpa, but here I am and I love it!!
You are too young for that, but congrats gramps.. I agree about the media overblowing the "Hue vs Baker" drama. It just proves the point that Baker Mayfield is very genuine. That wasn't planned, rehearsed or staged. His immediate reaction was that he didn't want to hug Hue. Who could blame him? Hue is phony. Bake's just calling it the way he sees it, and his cold reaction to his former coach is very understandable... No doubt that Mayfield uses the negative press as fuel for his fire, but he honestly shouldn't worry about what the talking heads are saying. Those shows are designed to spur reaction. He needs to just rise above it and don't fall into the trap, but I do like his tenacity. He stuck it to Colin Cowherd for calling him "undraftable", and now he's going after these bozo's that said he needed to "grow up"...lol! Mayfield clearly carries a big chip on his shoulder, and he pays attention to everything...It's not an act. It's just who he is.
Congrat's Irish I felt the same way when my first one was born. Don't worry about it. It grows on you in a hurry and God willing you have that much longer to enjoy them.
