This reminds me of Shitwad's injury in 2011. We were 7-3. He stayed in and finished the game after the injury. Nobody had a clue anything was wrong. Next day we find out he was done for the season. Hopefully this is more precautionary than anything. But this fucking schedule with the quick turnaround may mean Trubs has to miss the Lions game.
Good news is no one practiced today. So I guess all eyes on Bears practice and Nagy’s presser tomorrow.
If there is anything remotely "Serious" I'd rather bench him for the Lions game with this short rest and just try our luck and hope the defense wins one. Its funny you mention Cutler's injury when we were 7-3. I cant remember if it was on an INT or a loose ball but I remember I saw Trubisky throw himself at the ball/defender on a play sunday and my mind immediately went to when Cutler busted his thumb defending an INT and ended up being out for the season. I think it was the same play you mentioned.
Welp. Sounds like Chase Daniel is going to play thursday. Nagy was so purposefully indirect in the presser, saying he'll treat Mitch like Khalil Mack's ankle. Treating it like John Fox would. Just saying "Shoulder," not going into anything other than he wont need surgery--which I get to an extent to keep Detroit guessing on who/what to plan for. So severity level, its somewhere between 1-there. Multiple reports say its Mitch's AC Joint in right shoulder (thankfully nothing about the labrum--Mitch may be fucked if its his labrum), but we don't know extent.
Report from Schefty is that they are "optimistic" he will play. Which basically means nothing because its coach speak.
If it makes a difference, Nagy said "cautiously optimistic" but then proceeded to talk about how Chase Daniel is such a professional and is ready to go without blinking for a few moments then dodging more shoulder severity questions about Mitch, asking the press to respect team/player. Personally--this is where I think the NFL should take a page from the NHL. Upper body or lower body injury. Would cut out a lot of the crap.
It's interesting that Nagy is being somewhat coy on his responses. I'm wondering if he's playing the Lions (or trying to) to get an edge on them on a short week. The Lions now have a shit ton of film on what Trubs did well against them last week. Now they're going to have to start watching pre-season game film on Daniels as well.
It also doesn't mean anything because it's Schefter, and that guy's worse than weathermen. What a tool.
I agree, but NFL fans would riot. With everyone so neck-deep in fantasy football, taking any details away on injuries would set people off. Not that it would matter - the guy is still hurt for the same amount of time - but you can't take away the kid's rattle, so to speak.
The injury may have come on a late hit, but still my concern was that Trubs would get eventually injured with his aggressive rushing style. We saw Wentz and Jimmy G suffer more severe injuries. Mitch also had one really awkward slide in the first half where his arm bent badly. Maybe that contributed to it.
Yeah, same here. Something like a throwing arm injury - even the littlest thing can become a bigger problem. You could see him really wincing when it happened, but he stayed in and kept playing. Maybe it's just a short-term thing - soft-tissue injury that just needs some rest. Fingers crossed...
nothing to worry about until Thursday. Chase Daniel could still win the game with how well the defense is playing again, even if the worst comes to pass.
You probably already know about this but I just read it online. The Chicago Bears surprised many by listing quarterback Mitch Trubisky on their first injury report of the week on Monday night. Chicago did not hold a practice coming off their Week 11 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, but the league requires teams to project a report ahead of Thursday games. The Bears are set to play on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions and listed Trubisky, tight end Adam Shaheen and outside linebacker Aaron Lynch with the Did Not Practice designation. Head coach Matt Nagy did not mention anything about an injury for Trubisky when he met with the media just after noon on Monday. He then addressed the situation on Tuesday in his press conference but did not offer a lot of substance. He acknowledged the injury occurred against the Minnesota Vikings and that the young quarterback is currently day-to-day with his ailment. If for some reason Trubisky is unable to play on Thursday in Detroit, Chase Daniel is listed as Chicago's No. 2 quarterback. He played well in the preseason and has previous experience in this offensive scheme from his time in Philadelphia and Kansas City. The Bears also have NFL journeyman Tyler Bray on their practice squad.
I think it will be interesting to see if they bring Tyler Bray up. If not, I would assume Trubisky is going to play. If they do bring him up, you can pretty much assume Daniels is starting and Trubisky will not suit up.
