We just murdered the worth team in football...didn't the Vikings lose to this team? Granted with a different QB. Mitch wasn't good. The last few games reminds me of last season when he played well and then regressed. If the Bears want to hold on to first place he needs to step it up big time. He had trouble throwing to the sidelines yesterday. Sometimes that's an arm strength problem for QBs as making that throw is actually harder than throwing downfield. With Mitch, in my very amateur opinion, it's a mechanical problem as he doesn't always turn his hips and put his front foot where the ball is going. That causes his throws to nosedive. Jordan Howard looked better despite still having a below average YPC. He's a volume carry back...I stick by that opinion. To be successful he needs to get a lot of carries and get them in chunks. One carry here and then eight plays go by before another carry...doesn't work for him. Why can't Kush be trusted to take every snap? What's with the rotation? Daniels played every snap...Kush split with Witzmann. I don't understand that. Taylor Gabriel said after the game he was fine..hope he's telling the truth. Hicks left with an injury too but was on the sideline with his helmet and apparently could have went back in. We have a 3 game in 12 day stretch coming....need a healthy team. Aaron Lynch had himself a good game. So did everyone on the defensive line...which I was worried about with Nichols being inactive. Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathan were dominant. Leonard Floyd still sucks. Kyle Fuller pisses me off a lot. But I've always loved the way he aggressively plays the body of the receiver. I wish he had better ball skills but his physicality does pay off a lot. Amos and Jackson were near perfect on the back end of the defense. Granted it comes against the leagues worst defense but I don't care...they were great. Amos should have been a Pro Bowler last season....he has played more than good enough to be one this season. No way Floyd should be a starter once Mack is healthy. That was one of the worst officiated games this season in all the NFL....and I continue to think the NFL has hit an all time low in this regard. Bears have scored the most points in the NFL North...even with the Vikings not having a bye yet. They've also surrendered the fewest points in the division. So that's good. But in order for it to matter it's time for them to WIN DIVISIONAL GAMES!
Next 3 games are huge to say the least as we all know ... Minny had 10 sacks yesterday against the Lions , need Mack back in the lineup and they could get close to that number perhaps ... they have beaten 2 really bad teams yet means nothing unless they win at least 2 out of 3 coming up. Smith is going to be a beast next year if not before , once he's really in tune with the game plan etc , the sky is the limit . Miller showing promise with great hands , need Robinson back and healthy moving forward .
His sideline to sideline speed is pretty remarkable. Had one bad play yesterday on the whiff early but other than that he really had a good game.
Yes I agree 100% listing to Lance in the post game he made that point , Danny being healthy finally is also a factor on the field with Smith and also game preps etc as well I believe.
Bears had 10 sacks against the Bills yesterday. Only, 6 of them weren't counted due to a fake penalty.
I thought one of them was actually on communication coming from the center. Because both tackles jumped on the play...at least that's what I thought I saw. I don't know...I was really drunk. But it looked like communication on the line was struggling.
So to start, BWW pointed out 3 games in 11 days, well it just got tougher. Bears just got flexed with the Vikings, from the 12 pm game to prime time/night NBC game, which means an even shorter turnaround for Thanksgiving, the 11:30 AM Game. Rest is more imperative than ever the next couple of weeks. This was one of those games where while the stat sheet didn't look all that impressive, the score was just gorgeous. So Mitch's 12-20 game with 100 yards or whatever it was doesn't seem so shitty. In Nagy's presser today, he wasn't concerned about Mitch's lack of stats, and I semi-agree with him. When your defense is dominating poor Nate Peterman, not much Mitch is going to have to do. I wont defend the INT, that was bad and he just sailed it. Loved 2 throws in the 2nd to Burton for 25 yards and the opening throw of the 2nd half where Gabriel got PI'd because he had a TD had Poyer not wrapped him up. I also love Nagy throwing in the 2nd half out the gate. For all of us that bitched that he took his foot off the gas against the Packers week 1, here was your "play to win the damn game" moment. Didn't like Nagy chalking up Leno's 3 1st half pre-snap penalties as "unable to hear the silent count/crowd." Does Buffalo even get that loud? I also liked Anthony Miller. He had some great routes, catches, and he trolled Bills HC McDermott. Cant find the video link to make it look pretty, but: I want to see him v Jaire Alexander, who got chippy with Josh Gordon a few times last night. Akeim Hicks also had a few shots talking shit to Vlad Ducasse. Licked his lips on a play and told fatass he couldn't block him. Aaron Lynch was good this game. Leonard Floyd.....just seems useless. He's not getting to the QB. The bears apparently rebuffed trade offers for him pre-deadline. I'm curious what they were. Kyle Fuller played an great game against Kelvin Benjamin/Zay Jones.
Bit late for this, had a lot of work on. But had a half finished post sitting here so what the hell. - This week on deep ball watch...... well, that throw to Bellamy in the endzone, Trubisky just has to make that. There was about 5-6yards of separation, it was a big window. But i find those passes are hard to complete when you throw it straight out of bounds... On the plus side, i felt both of the deep ball PI's, one on Miller one on Gabriel were good throws and both would've been big completions if not for the PI. Soooo.....progress? It was a mixed bag from Trubisky i felt. He made some good throws but some bad ones too. In the gamethread i felt that pick had to be from a miscomm cos it was so off target. But ive watched it several times now, and i actually just think he sailed it. Really badly. As others stated, the games where they don't matter so much have now gone. Trubisky needs to up his level, consistently. - Kevin White was a healthy scratch for this game. Dunno if there was some personal stuff that came up, but if not, his time looks to be almost up. Its bad enough for White seeing Javon Wims get activated ahead of him, but for it all to happen while Robinson is out (you would've thought White's best chance at playing time comes as a direct replacement for ARob outside).....kinda speks for itself. - This week on QB keeper watch..... The Bears ran read option looks on running plays a lot in this game but to my memory Trubisky didn't once keep it and go. There were multiple times it was on and it would've netted big gains every time. I don't believe the Bears weren't aware of this so i applaud Nagy for not using it. Its a good play for the Bears and Trubisky is more than mobile enough to execute it, but no need to put it out there on even more film in a game you didn't need to use it. Keep it for these divisional games and nail em with it. - Speaking of Nagy. Next time don't be a dick, just call the sneak. - Speaking of shiny domes, the stupid ass visor look was back again this week, dammit. Tuna, do you still have that contact in the equipment department? Have him burn all Nagy's visors. Its for the greater good. - Danny Trevathan was dominant for the second week running. Sure, a MLB's life is much easier when his DL in front is curb stomping the opposition, but you still have to make plays and i didn't see him put a foot wrong sunday. And he knocked the spit out of Chris Ivory with that hit! - The O-Line was given a tough test sunday. Massie was all-round shitty, Leno is a FS moron and got beat multiple times, and the interior had their hands properly full. They created a big hole for Howard a couple of times, but for the most part it was very tough. Overall they prob lost the run game battle and scraped a draw at best in the passing game imo. Its a good thing the game wasn't close, cos if the Bears had needed more from their Offense im not such how much they could've got. - I had Sims getting beat on like 3 blocks in the first half. So i checked his splits the next day. The useless turd was only on the field 14 plays! Cut this bum in the Offseason Pace and save the money. - Speaking of Pace and money. Callahan isn't getting any cheaper Mr Quiffmeister. At least TRY and sign him to a team friendly deal before its too late. - Just curious, but other than maybe endzone jumpballs, where do people see Adam Shaheen fitting into this Offense going forward? I think Burton has done great since joining the team and wouldn't want to see him sit out 1 passing play to Shaheen frankly. And as much as we might dream of him ousting Sims when he's healthy, Shaheens blocking was far from good last season. Anyway he's not here to do Sims job and be a blocking TE, he's meant to be a move TE. Only the Bears have someone else now who moves, catches and everything else, far better than Shaheen... Go Bears!!
This'll get me labelled a hater, but i didn't see that at all from Smith. I thought he had a very uneven performance. Some good, some very bad. The whiff on the dump-off to McCoy, for a good LB thats a pretty regulation play. But Smith was a little late getting over, and may have been a little deep too, and thats prob why he slightly overpursued and got juked. It let them convert a 3rd down. Against good teams you pay for that kinda thing. Smith also gave up the two longest pass plays of the day for the Bills i believe. He lost a TE on a simple cross which turned a 4yard pass into a 30yard gain. Dreadful play. And im pretty sure it was Smith who lost Ivory coming out the backfield which again turned from a short pass into a 20yard gain. None of those 3 were difficult plays, gotta do better. Not that it was all bad, it wasn't. He showed good range, and bagged himself a lot of tackles. He actually hits harder than i expected him to. And while Jackson was indeed credited with that FF in the end, im giving Smith an assist cos i think the hit from the backside was important to the FF. And it was good hustle getting over there too. But Smith is still very much a work in progress. He gets no anointment from me.
I did trash them, he hasn't wore them in a couple weeks has he? Apparently he ordered some from Amazon and has some stock at home. I'll tell you what I got this shit covered next time I walk his dog I'll look for them and shred them and leave them by the dog bed.
I do feel sorry for the poor framed dog in your fiendish plan, but you'll be in the clear to carry on operating on behalf of our board and thats more important in the long run. Also, this being Nagy, the dog will prob just get an encouraging slap on the butt and told he still believes in him.
No hater from me, this is actually close to what I think too, though I'm more on the upside of him. He has done a lot of good IMO but there have been a couple plays like you mention where the growing pains are obvious. I do think he has a lot of potential, and I wish he hadn't held out, because then I think by now he could be that much better.
Thats exactly where i'm at with this as well vv. Urlacher was a pro from the first day they drafted him and without that attitude he doesn't win DROY imo. Every now and then Smith flashes something thats suggests he could've been in that conversation this year. But he isn't close to that, and when you see him making the kinda mistakes in week 9 that prob should've been out his system by week 2-3, its impossible to say a lot of that isn't cos he held out so long he wasn't ready to go full when the season started.
