Love this stuff, but honestly... isn't it win-win for Baltimore, too? Outcome A: Cleveland wins. DC: "Tough to play against this generation's Brett Favre." Outcome B: Cleveland loses. DC: "We were able to stop this generation's Brett Favre, so that's a testament to how good our defense truly is."
Stopping a rookie better happen If your defense is any good. Letting a rookie beat you means you can’t do your job as a DC. He is supposed to be an top defense.
All coaches do something like except on this occasion i think he is right. Mayfield looks that good but anything can happen over the next couple of years. if you dont protect him or he gets injured or he has nothing to work with then his talent will not mean much. It will be a good game, as i and many have said since last week, we were not scared of PIT that week ( maybe it changed in a few weeks after they get their shit together) but i am scared of the browns. Your pass rush could create issues, your rookie CB is legit- it could get interesting. 2k
Ditto on the pass rush. My main worry obviously with Mayfield is the turnovers in the face of the rush. He had some bad ones in Oakland. Baltimore has been flustering our QB's forever, so I'll be very interested to see if Baker can keep his cool when things don't go perfect. Our new LT (Desmond Harrison) has been arguably our best rookie so far, but he will no doubt be tested Sunday...On the other side, I expect the Browns to disrupt the pocket on Flacco, and make things extremely difficult. The Browns want to be respected. A win Sunday would bode well...
What's maddening to me is our perennial "basement dweller" narrative. We've all suffered through years of futility, with teams that simply didn't have what it took. This year, that is not the case, yet here we are again, close yet no cigar. Same old Browns, can't win the 4th quarter, masters of finding or if necessary inventing ways to lose. Blame it on the officials, the kicker, whatever..... we just keep losing, or more accurately "not winning". It's never been as frustrating as it is now, with what we all "know" is a legit team, who still can't find a way to win. There's no reason to expect them to win Sunday, other than our sincere belief that they have the ability and the talent. Throw in a little of the magic Baker conjured in his first home game, and maybe, just maybe, we could pull it off. True, but no one can demonstrate any convincing argument to pick the Browns to upset a juggernaut Raven team, who's history repeatedly shows they can "handle" Cleveland. You cannot argue we have the better coaches, the better QB, the better WRs, the better D or special teams. The one area we can claim superiority is in our RBs. That's it. And Baltimore is damn good vs the run. So what are we talking about? Magic? Home field? Faith! That's all I got. I'm a Browns fan. Have been all my life, and I "see" something I've not seen since Bernie drew up his last TD in the dirt. A team ready to win. A team that believes it "can" win. This team has the raw material to become a "dominate" team, but has to learn how to win. Blaming any one area of the team: coaching, kicking, special teams, lack of depth, leaky O line, etc.... doesn't capture what is missing IMO. It takes a village. Dumb, but true. Everything has to be 1 degree better, and we win. When we win, it will snowball, and the team we all see, as Browns fans, will show itself to the rest of the league. Baker gave us a glimpse of how that effect works two weeks ago on this field. That kind of magic / momentum is real. It's contagious Bruh. It could start this weekend. I know that. You know that, and I think the rest of the NFL knows it too. We are all just waiting for the snowball to start down that hill. I'm too beaten down by years of piss poor teams, and inventive losing to truly feel this is the week it starts, but if it does, I'll feel it, and I am more than ready to ride that wave. Go Browns!! '
Well, our kicker goes from goat to hero after missing an XP and a wide left 55yd FG. And the one he put through in overtime was absolutely horrendous.....ugly low line drive knuckleball........ Not sure if it's cause he's a rookie or that the hunt for a K is still on-going.......
This is a HUGE WIN!!!!!!! However ugly that kick was And the best part is that the yinzers are still below us in the afcn
Guess i was right. As i said in a pm to Kid, your team was legit and their D is great. I am not surprised we lost, this isnt the same browns and it was a tough one. Fair play, hopefully this is the start of another great rivalry with football being played with an emphasis on D 2k
I've lost my voice from all the yelling....totally worth What a phuqing game. Best I've ever been to I'd say. These are the games we've found a way to lose in the past. No more
And that is the difference. Well said. Unbelievable defensive performance. Baker never flinches, and Duke finally gets a chance to make a difference, and miraculously... he does. The "more Chubb" idea, didn't pay off this week, and Hyde just keeps doing it. He may not be flashy, but he doesn't miss much. I think Chubb still has to master blocking, before Haley trusts him down to down. Can't be the guy who runs the ball or isn't on the field. Keep working rookie, you'll get it, and we'll need you. Higgins has the makings of really good #2. Hope he's OK. I am one excited Browns fan today. Two wins in the same season. Wow!!!
Damn close 342 passing **ACHIEVED** 112 rushing, would have been 123 if not for the Rod Streater debacle (what the hell was that???) Net Yards 416 **ACHIEVED** Despite only meeting two of my goals, the defense played lights out. They tightened when they needed to the most. They gave up over 400 total yards, including more passing AND rushing than I asked for..however... the Ravens didn't get big plays. Only got 4.9 yards per play **ACHIEVED** They also kept the clock moving, even with a long overtime they were one of the first games finished, the 12-9 score proves that having a "fast game clock", they can beat anyone. **ACHIEVED** **ACHIEVED** 1-0-1 in the division...let's keep this trend moving upward
Let's keep up to date on this, since we all know winning division games is of paramount importance to winning the division.. Bengals 1-0 Browns 1-0-1 Ravens 1-2 Steelers 0-1-1 I'll be honest, I'm not sure who technically is worse off at the bottom, I would say the Ravens with 2 losses, but the Steelers don't have a win...so maybe tied at this point??? All I know is a win against the Bengals would really help us move forward in our turnaround!!
I celebrated that night just because we got rid of Kizer... Talk about a complete turnaround. What a difference Randall and Ward have made in that secondary. I believe Ravens were 4 for 16 on 3rd down conversions. And you know who else played some ball yesterday, Jabril Peppers. Not so much on special teams, but that kid had himself a rock solid game defensively. Good for Peppers!
