Saw this on twitter... That's Trubisky talking about not throwing to a wide open Burton in the endzone. I gotta say...that's a very mature response.
I agree Bww. I hope that this helps him to push himself a little harder and to take some risks. Hey so if the coach tells him to set up a certain play but he sees something else happening when the play starts can he change the plan?
Completely agree. He seems to have the smarts to take steps forward. Test will tell if he can actually do it.
The QB is the coach on the field and all that matters once the ball is snapped is what he sees. He has to adjust to whats happening on the field. And yes he can change the play based on what he sees from the defense and most coaches applaud that. Because when a play is called it's typically already predetermined what you will change, audible, to based on what you see from the defense. A young QB will typically, and understandably, struggle with this early on in their career. It's how they learn, adapt, and grow that separates a player like Mitch Trubisky from becoming the next Jay Cutler or the next Alex Smith.
The coaching staff has just as much to learn as Trub does. Hopefully Nagy doesn't abandon the run next time we have a 17 point lead after 3 quarters.
