Won't include preseason all pro Tanner Gentry. Nor Leblanc .I always liked him. I imagine he'll get picked up somewhere.
He got cut last year and no one picked him up right ? has he really gotten that much better , not sure he has , is he practice squad eligible still ?
I know LeBlanc had his fans on this board last season, i was never on board with it. Never thought highly of him, the dude was just a guy. But, he is way better than Toliver at this point. I guess the Bears want to put some dev time into Toliver. I don't see it personally but hey ho. One things for sure though, Marcus Cooper doesn't have the youth angle that Toliver does. We know what Cooper is, he is a bum. Cooper making this team over LeBlanc, just SMDH. Also, the kid from Last Chance U, John Franklin III didn't make the team. He's listed as a DB, guess they tried to convert him from QB and it didn't work.
^ He had a really good series in a game that made some of us hopeful. Then he just had flashes of being another bum. Otherwise..... 6 WRs including Bellamy and Kevin White. 5 TEs that include Dion Sims. Why? I'm glad Rashaad Coward made it on the OLine. I like him as depth. I'm perplexed that Hroniss Grasu is still a bear. Send his ass to the American Alliance of Football, that's his ceiling at this point. I'm curious, they set the 53 man before adding Mack on the chicagobears website https://www.chicagobears.com/news/bears-announce-53-man-roster Who gets cut for Mack?
Because with all the RPO type stuff they are gonna run...they need bodies on the edge to help the tackles block. And why is Cooper on the roster and not the unemployment line?
Grasu cut, Shaheen placed on IR to make room for Mack and DL Nick Williams. Williams was cut by the Phins in training camp last year September and didn't play at all in 2017.
Getting caught up on everything now. Deiondre’ Hall was traded to Philly for a conditional 2019 7th round draft pick.
Shaheen isn't ready to play, and not just because of health. They said he might be ready for opening night just a week ago - what changed to necessitate carrying another TE and putting him on IR until at least week 9? His pro ability has always been nothing but potential - it seems like he might not be any closer to making it a reality with the team in this new offense. Here's to hoping he comes back and proves me wrong.
Cooper should have been cut after his unforgivable showboating cost us a TD in the Steelers game. Shaheen is headed for bust territory. And is Bellamy that valuable as a special teamer to make Nagy keep 6 WRs?
Call me crazy, but I like Dion Sims. He’s a good blocker and, when given the opportunity, he can catch a ball and run with it. He does what he’s asked to do in limited opportunities. Don’t get the hate for him when there are so many other players much more worthy of scorn. LeBlanc had a stretch of good to very good games and made plays last year. Cooper must have videos of Mike McCaskey doing unspeakable things on north Halsted. That’s the only explanation for him being on the 53.
The animus for Sims from me comes from his contract. 6 mill a year. Didn’t see where he was worth that when they signed him. Still don’t.
Bummed, I always liked him, though I've no idea how he looked this camp. Glad to see the corpse of Grasu get moved. Marcus Cooper makes the roster over Leblanc... Leblanc was pretty underwhelming to be honest, but cooper... I'm with Bear-man 11. Sims is good. People wanted him gone because he was not worth his contract is the only reason. That said, the Bears ended up not using that cap space at all really (until yesterday with mack). Once all the FAs worth 6m were gone, I'd rather just keep Sims, Espcially with SHaheen entering bust territory.
Im a fan of all 3 of these guys. Think they'll all be on the PS. Them not being on the team, I hope is a good thing. It definitely is a good thing with Timu.
The only head scratcher I see is keeping Cooper over Leblanc. Neither is starting material but Cooper is trash. Old trash. Leblanc got picked up by Detroit so he will get his chance at revenge.
Ive seen Sims miss his fair share of blocks. And he really does nothing in the passing game. As the 9th highest paid player on the team and the 11th highest paid TE in the league, with a cap hit of $6.333mil, there's really no question Sims is being overpaid. The real reason he's still on the team is prob a combination of Sheheen(yes, im coining that one) going to IR and the fact that Sims carries a dead cap hit of $4.666mil this year, meaning the saving from cutting him is fairly marginal. His dead cap goes down to 333k next offseason, good chance he gets cut then.
I think going off of last season Sims looks highly over paid. But I’ll wait to see how he performs in Nagy’s offense before I close the book on him. As for Shaheen I felt he was looking much improved this preseason before the injury. They are being pretty tight lipped about the severity of that injury all I heard was sprained ankle and foot. He is young no need to rush him back just to appease the fans that want to grade Pace on his pick.
