Agree if Ben goes down for significant time then it doesnt matter who our back up is so ship off Jones who we know isnt the heir and keep Dobbs and Rudolph.

that's it exactly, I think ... "Like he’s thinking too much". Think this is a common enough requirement to get to the next level. Neither he or any of our rookies have had enough time for us or even staff to no better than glimpse what is possible, what may be. Those glimpses IMO will / should go a long way for both Thomas and Ola. Almost invariably, 2nd year guys speak of the game slowing down.... rooks only have a month under their belts and by 4:00 this afternoon some will be looking to the phone for a call from another team.

My thoughts exactly Jean... if we get in to that kinda of a long term mess I'd much rather see the ball in Dobbs hands than any others. His command of the play calling and windows breaking passes was very impressive. His legs alone are worth +half a running back that we see nothing like from any of the other three.

The thing is, if Ben has a say, Jones will be staying ... and IMO that potentially makes us a weaker team

Really surprised at the Steelers decision to keep Dobbs over Jones. Extremely happy yes, but also very surprised. I honestly didn’t think there was a chance in hell Dobbs was making the team over Jones. The Steelers typically value veterans more than the younger players, especially at QB. After watching the last preseason performance from Dobbs, I was an even bigger believer in Dobbs than I was before. I’ve said it before that I wanted Dobbs to stick around, and I thought he could grow to be something pretty good. I also didn’t think the Steelers would dump Jones, mostly because I thought he’d be the one teaching Rudolph the playbook. Guess the Steelers have the same thought process as a lot of the fans, if the 2nd QB needs to come in for an extended time the season would be in serious jeopardy no matter who was there so they should go for the longer term solution. Dobbs I believe has 3 years under contract and Jones was in his final year as a Steeler.
