Supposedly Steelers are in the process of trading for Ryan Switzer a kick returner and slot receiver and the odd man out will be Justin Thomas - Tough break for him getting hurt last game. Supposedly he is being released

Ryan Switzer is very very very good receiver and could possibly be our own little Edelman or something like that ... won't be on field much with JUJU in slot and with little receiving experience in NFL but he is at least insurance

The kid is a kick returner and punt returner, which is a rare combo in the NFL these days As guys usually just do one or the other, and I think we only gave up a sixth or seventh rounder but that's to be determined

I don’t know why we are trading for a WR? We have plenty. We need a ILB, now we have to cut a WR that another team will scoop up

I don't think they wanted Antonio Brown to return punts anymore. I wish they did have the depth on defense that you are talking about

Their kick returning has been atrocious, I like the move. I think Switzer is being brought in more for the kick returning. Not sure if he also returns punts.

He returns punts too. He would have to be special to get any playing time on offense, we are stacked at WR.

    Henderson is probably done.

After JuJu and AB, none of the other WRs can return kicks

I believe he returns both kickoffs and punts.

IMO he has more value than Tucker and Patterson maybe Hunter too

How much more playing time do u think Patterson, Hunter, and Tucker would get over AB, JuJu, DHB, and Washington anyway?

All those guys will get claimed by other teams. I would have rather tried Henderson. He hasn’t really had any returnable punts or kicks. But what I saw of him looked like he could do a good job and break a few when he got a chance.

Henderson has shown nothing and no ability to even create his own good returns.
They won’t have to cut all 3 mentioned WRs to keep Switzer. At this point Patterson and Tucker are no better than practice squad players.

This article pretty well defines the ups and downs of this transaction. FWIW It looks like a very good idea to me, especially if you looking to hold on to an extra player elsewhere and can use the space provided by the two-fer you get from this guy ... who by the way is also a decent receiver as well as SP Team.. with one of the two receivers hurt and the other held without a catch, the Steeler FO wasted no time in shoring that up. (especially with Cam fumbling his attempt)

I think this is long term good news.

Steelers traded a 5th round pick for Switzer and a 6th round pick. Pretty cheap.

I don't think the raiders are going to be a very good football team this year so might only be a difference of 10 or more spots.

I was a pretty big fan of Switzer coming out. Thought for sure the Patriots would go after him. But what I remember most was a Ravens fan who called in to NFL radio to speak to Jim and Pat. He tried to make a case for the Ravens to take Switzer in the first round. They got a really good laugh out of that one. I think the other 99.9% of Ravens fans would have had a cow.

    Speaking of the Ravens...

They just traded their 2nd pick from 2016, Kamalei Correa to the Titans for a 6th. The jury is still out on their 2nd rounder from last year. That round hasn't been very kind to them.

Hopefully Ill be wrong but it feels like a desperation move to nab a returner much in the way we made desperation moves at cb when bringing in Boykin and Gilbert.

Agree that Boykin and Gilbert were desperation moves but I don’t see this move the same way, it’s a good try to improve the kick returning

Wait a minute. Steelers 5th round pick would be much higher than Raiders 6th round pick. That's a lot more than 10 spots, right?
