Well, fuck, TopDawg, you've taken a hell of a position. "I posted to a sports for him because I didn't want actual conversation". Bold stuff.

This thread is about as fun as a wet blanket...

    I'm excited about the Browns.....

I'm not crazy about our coach....

    That's it...

Sorry some people just can't handle that or accept it or whatever the hell...lol! Hue SUCKS! That's how I feel about it. Deal with it.

Look. I love the Browns...I'm fired up about the Browns more than I have been since the rebirth in 99....I think we got a good QB in Tyrod Taylor that is VERY capable of having a big season this year. I think our QB of the future is going to be one of the NFL's best. And I think our GM has done an outstanding job of bringing in key players that can help turn things around for us in a hurry this year. Possibly one of the ALL TIME turnarounds in the history of this league...I'm expecting a winning season.....But I'm still FAR from sold on Hue, and highly skeptical of his capabilities for plenty of reasons that have been well documented on the Browns boards over the last two years...Not trying to be rude but, I don't need anyone to tell me about the cards he was dealt. That's all been taken into consideration. I'm not some novice fan that hasn't been following intently... I think conclusively that Hue comes up way short....

The good news is, I think Tyrod or Baker can win in spite of Hue... So plenty of reason for optimism. Who know's? Maybe Hue will even surprise me this year. Not counting on it, but we'll see...I hope so. I believe this season could be epic.

I'm not a fan of Hue by any means myself. I just think the reason you gave sucks, and makes no sense. Deal with it.

    @TopDawg , @dlinebass5 , @Lyman

I came pretty hard after the original watching of Hard Knocks. As stupid as this sounds, I have now watched it 3 times to see if I missed anything.

My stance has changed on the conversation at hand. The scene doesn't do anyone any favors. They were having a meeting, in which I am assuming just before the scene starts, the staff had given a more comprehensive deduction of their recommendations to the rest of the room. All we see is, such and such are missing practice, and a recommendation for another to miss a practice. Then, the meat of the scene plays out.

I agree with dline here, Hue had taken in all parties information, including Haley's and stated quite frankly what the policy has developed into. He had already tried to "explain" when Kitchens brought the subject up, stating basically to ALL new coaches, this is the policy....THEN Haley, who had just listened to Hue's explanation to Kitchens and to a broader audience of all new coaches, decided to back up another new coach, instead of his HC. To Hue's credit, he sat there and listened to what Haley had to say, then he start his rebuttal, which is when HALEY, tried to cut Hue off...TD, you state that Hue cuts Haley off mid-sentence, but what actually happens is Hue, cuts him off by saying, let me finish, which Haley wasn't going to let him do. This is a hierarchy, if the HC isn't being respected, then the inmates will run the asylum. I think this was Hue getting things put into the proper order.

I do agree, that Haley backtracked when he realized he was wrong in how he stated his stance with the positive notes at the end of the scene.

I am not all flowers and lollipops about Hue, but in this case, I believe I jumped the gun on my original comments and he did the right thing. He may have gone over board, but I think he was trying to make a clear point in who's in charge to the newbies on certain aspects of the team. Hue made it clear earlier in the year when he said "This is Haley's offense and he will not interfere". Well, the aspect of team health is the responsibility of the HC, not the OC.

Maybe Hue is actually starting to act more like a HC after all...Time will tell if he has done his homework this off season, because in game decisions are one of my biggest issues with him. He still has a lot to prove.

Hue Jackson has proven himself a trash coach and until he wins nine games this season, I will continue to think so.

With that being said, there was some light shed on his back-and-forth by (I believe) Dustin Fox on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. Hue makes heavy use of some newer technology that analyzes players' soft tissue. They've been using it there since he got there and they've got one of the lowest rates of soft tissue issues among NFL teams, according to Fox (again, I believe it was Fox). That's why he came across so matter-of-factly is that they (he) was relying heavily on this technology and that was the recommendation.

Choosing analysis over "qualified football people". Be careful, Hue... that's awfully analtics-based.

Irishdog, I know you guys like Haley as an OC, but he is an asshole. He can call a good offense overall but you will find that in situational football he tries to pound a square peg through a round hole. Ben wouldn’t even talk to the guy while they were on the sidelines of live games last season. He takes control away from the QBs by not letting them run the no huddle, and him and his wife are swingers.

    1. The fact that Haley and his wife are swingers (if even remotely true) is irrevelent to coaching football.
    2. Ben Roethlisberger is also an asshole.
    3. Haley was paid to tell the QB what to do in a given situation. If the QB didn't like the call, perhaps that's why it didn't work.

Guys seriously, I did not just watch an episode of Hard Knocks and determine that I don't like Hue the football coach. This is a conclusion that I reached long before Hard Knocks, and I base it off of Hue's decisions and track record since he's been a part of our organization. I hate his in game decisions. I hate his lack of in game adjustments. I hate how he refers to everyone as a Pied Piper of sorts. I hate how he flip flops on the regular basis. He says one thing adamantly, and then reverses 180 degrees on it the very next week. I don't like his offensive approach to begin with. I don't like how he has this this view of himself as a legendary NFL coaching figure. He has NO FUCKING CLUE when he should go for two points at the end of games. He's had three such situations since he's been here, and he's botched them ALL miserably...If basic common sense says you should kick the extra point and keep hope alive, Hue likes to go for two and ruin any chance at victory....He came to us as the "QB whisperer", and he's been anything but...

I think @Lyman explained this well. I just wanted to add one more point.

Maybe it's the QB and his lack of confidence in a QBs ability to do it on his own. In the very first preseason game, he allowed Tyrod to run the no huddle, and he led "Haley's" offense under no huddle for a TD.

Just saying, and to reiterate Lyman, maybe it's more Ben's Assholeness that caused the rift, and less Haley's inability to give control to a QB.

To alleviate any confusion, I didn't think you were basing your analysis of Hue on a Hard Knocks episode, I was only speaking directly to the conversation going on regarding the scene between him and Haley.

As a man, I have much respect for Hue Jackson. I like the guy. The players like the guy. Hue does have something going for him that I'm not seeing, that's for sure. The Hard Knocks episode made me feel bad for the man. I'm pretty certain Baker and Tyrod will save his ass, and I'm positive there will still be times during the season where Hue makes ya scratch your head....Obviously the Haslams love him, and I guess that's all that really matters for Hue.

Go Browns!! I can't wait for Friday night. I bet Tyrod is lookin forward to it too.

Is it telling that the Browns are the Nationally televised feature game two weeks out of two in pre-season? This team has a lot going on that people are tuning in to. Whether that translates to anything of relevance in the regular season doesn't matter. They are playing the games that have the biggest draw and right now, that's our Browns.

No, you guys had a good draft and can’t wait till regular season to see them. They want ratings, and a rabbid fan base hungry for anything good to come for their team will be more likely to give them ratings.

And that draw is only going to increase when we go full scale shake and Bake! This is gonna be fun....

    • Preferred Jared Goff over Carson Wentz
    • Thought No. 2 was "too high" for Carson Wentz
    • Wanted Bob Griffin over Carson Wentz
    • "Earth moved" for Robert Griffin III
    • "Trust me" on Cody Kessler
    • Preferred Malik Hooker over Deshaun Watson
    • Asked Josh McCown to retire/become a coach
    • Preferred DeShone Kizer over Brock Osweiler
    • Thought Baker Mayfield was "too small"
Remember... these are easily proven facts: we have his media mouthpiece (Michael Silver) on record.

But please... remind me again how Hue "Earth-Moved/Trust-Me/Not-Worth-a-Two" Jackson, who was brought in implicitly because of his experience with quarterbacks and was involved in every QB decision wasn't given his "thoroughbred" until John Dorsey arrived and picked the literal one player whom Hue Jackson presumably did not want and does not fit his archetype.
