If Ben fucks up this season when will people start calling for Rudolph, especially if he has a good preseason? I think the team is leaning to letting Ben play out his contract and handling the team over to Rudolph in 2020. Of course they would have to see something from Rudolph in practice and preseason.
I am not one to judge someone quickly. I've had the opportunity for many years to be around players outside of the stadiums. I understand being around "fans" outside of "work" can be irritating at times. I don't jump to an opinion from one experience, because we all are human. Ben is really a nasty person IRL. He's a dick. Talks to people like they are trash. Treats adoring fans like they are trying to steal something from him. Besides what he has done in his "sexual" encounters in various settings. I value your opinion also. I don't use the words against him flippantly. I wanted to like him, but he's impossible to like. IMHO
These comments are here for one reason and one reason only... to show the fan heat generated by the ongoing commentary of a selfish, me only, petty, immature self styled distraction that has no clue of the concept of "team" when he opens his mouth only to remove all doubt. I remember being very proud of Ben 2003-04 when he had transplanted Maddox for the starting job saying "Tommy has helped me and my career and I can't thanks him enough for his professionalism". Compared to today....when asked if he'd help Mason... “I don’t think I’ll need to [take Rudolph under my wing] now that he’s said that he doesn’t need me. So if he asks me a question, I might have to just point to the playbook, you know?” That's why he's an asshole...because of the way he acts, the things he says and the total distraction to the team, the FO and generations of fans whom he all throws casually and willingly under that bus. Wouldn't you think with all his experience in sports he would have come across and taken seriously "There's no "I" in team?" It's not in him, which means neither is the "Steeler Way", the tried and true help your team and teammates to make the best possible professional football product. It only takes a 12 man jury in court to glean the truth ... here's a couple dozen Steeler fan comments that, yes, all have assholes, but when taken in unison and quantity cannot all be wrong. Some will defend him but lets be honest its Ben thinking about Ben and nothing else. Sure he mentions win now to get the Fans on his side and he mentions Dobbs to get some sympathy votes but the truth is he is threatened by Rudolph All Ben needs to do in order to learn how to handle this with class is to read the comments of a Mr. Joshua Dobbs. Ben is a shallow person. Great football talent; HOF QB; but entitled and immature. 'I'm the QB and I can say whatever I want, about whomever I want, and throw anybody under the bus.' The way Ben has (mis)handled this, is it any wonder why the FO wouldn't dare talk to him about their plans ahead of time? Who could trust him to keep his angst to himself? On the field, Bobby Lane and Ben have been my fav QB's over the last 60+ years. Off the field, he is a putz Ben has flip flop about how long he wants to play. If Ben up and leaves and we have a losing season everyone will be up in arms saying they should have been prepared There's no way to justify gratuitously bashing on a teammate, Front office, scouts and staff. Yes, of course he should have kept his thoughts to himself. How do I know? Because what he said did absolutely nothing to help himself, his teammates, or the organization Any discussion of "divas" or "distractions" on the team need to begin and end with Ben at this point. It's not positive when you publicly question ownership and coaches...that creates a wedge, and other players may start questioning as well...not productive. even though Matthew stated: " I know for a fact that a lot of Steelers fans actually agree with what Roethlisberger had to say on that topic..." MORE people yesterday seemed to express negative thoughts and feelings towards Big Ben over his comments, than were supportive. But those detracting "threaders" should take quite a bit of comfort in knowing, that had they gotten on Twitter last night, they would have found a majority of people once again, agreeing with them. Ben was being THRASHED on thread after thread that I came across I've always been a huge Ben Roethlisberger fan and have defended him many times in the past. But to hear him say he doesn't plan to help the rookie and publicly make it clear that he doesn't like the pick is disappointing. obviously have no clue how to be a professional in a working environment. Ben is an employee of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is also a team captain. He represents the Steelers organizations and is expected to conduct himself a certain way. His interview was not up to the standards expected of a team captain. Throwing teammates, coaches, and your GM and owner under the bus normally get you fired. I'm just a guy that wants to see this team reach it's full potential. What Ben did yesterday doesn't help with that one bit. It was his personal agenda plain and simple. why should Ben be consulted in Pittsburgh. He needs to just shut up and play QB. steelersdepot.com
Gidion72 says the sooner Ben is gone the sooner we can build this roster back up. If we can get at least two seasons out of Rudolph on his rookie contract then we can add some good defensive FAs. I really believe Rudolph will be better than Ben. Ben spent most of his career not getting himself as prepared as he should. Guaranteed that Rudolph will get prepared a lot better than Ben.
The article I read on SteelersDepot made it sound like that comment about not helping Rudolph was not to be taken seriously. I haven’t actually heard the interview so those who have could probably have a better judgment on that part. If that part was Ben making light of Rudolph’s comment then no problem there. However, a lot of people have come out and bashed Roethlisberger casts a great deal of doubt on that being the case. The rest of his interview just made him look like an a**. Got a problem with the events on draft day? Talk to your coach and gm, don’t air it in the media. He’s a drama queen looking for attention and stirring the pot. It is unnecessary, he probably has a job as long as he wants it, just shut up and help the team prepare for football after he decides to hang it up.
I haven’t seen many QBs as lazy as Ben used to be. Rudolph has a chip on his shoulder, and will do everything he can to get on the field.
I wouldn't say he's the laziest QB, he does put in extra time with his receivers, or at least he has in the past. I'll definitely agree he doesn't appear to be the most studious QB ever. Honestly I am with you in that Ben's act is getting old fast, the throwing teammates under the bus, calling out the front office, rushing out of the clubhouse to go play golf. As long as he still performs at a high level, all that gets pushed to the side though.
Beloved Techheart Good to see u back posting but stop being an a-hole lol This is now a kinder and gentler Steelers Nation
I think Ben has really played the playground QB for most of his career, it’s only under Haley he became a pocket passer. Hopefully Finchter can get something extra out of Ben & his knowledge that someone is there that can actually replace him. He has always been undisputed number one QB for us, now it’s not undisputed anymore.
Its undisputed until Rudolph disputes it. And that won't be until next season at least unless there is an injury.
But that’s my quarterback they are talking about, man, my quarterback. (Cries like T.O.)... Hopefully Ben hoists another Lombardi this year and we can all call him an a-hole after cheering his two minute drill TD for the win.
How else do you run the QB sneak? 2018 Prediction: So many flags... oh, so many. My question is this... will it be a penalty if the ball carrier lowers their head to a crown apex position, but does not make contact with any other player, is it still a "leading with the crown" penalty?
Now that’s a good one Gid. That would be funny. The road to hell and good intentions ...the more I think about this new rule the more I realize it is going to be very subject to interpretation (exactly what noone should want). They get rid of some of the “what is a catch?” stuff then add an even bigger aspect to “what is illegal helmet to helmet?” Refs are gonna be controlling games by their interpretations, as usual and maybe to an even greater degree.
