Well, I just said it and assumed you would agree, since you don't seem to like my posts...Too long...Whiny (is what you inferred)
Browns have to be the leaders in the club house now. Also, let's talk about that #4 pick and New England trading up to take Josh Rosen. Remember when Bill Belicheck said there was no way he'd trade Jimmy Garoppolo to Cleveland? Hopefully John Dorsey remembers.
Well, after drafting Mayfield #1 and Rosen still available at #4, we won't take two QBs...so...the Pats can trade up to #5 with Denver to get him.
So Brian Hoyer... Who is Tyrod closer to...McCown or Hoyer? My money is on Hoyer...The rookie will need to lean on Stanton
I guess he could have been talking about Connor Shaw. Obviously, a majority of the blame has to be on Johnny for not taking his craft seriously, but the regime at the time also bears a ton of responsibility and Johnny's interview with the Thomahawk podcast really shed some light on that. Hearing him talk about McCown and his impact on him and his development makes me so much happier that we've got Drew Stanton there to bring Baker along. Tyrod shouldn't have to want to coach up a replacement for himself - and in fact, I only want him worrying about getting better and winning football games. Let the coaches and veteran handle the development.
See... when I made the joke about your posts being too long, I envisioned you chuckling light heartedly and taking a barb back at me. Completely lighthearted fun. Instead, you ripped the head off of your Barbie, and silently stewed. Then I stuck up for @beachbum because... well, you guys act like trolls, but this is your territory, so it’s ok. Beach used to be a part of the fun and informational circle jerk you had going, but somewhere along the way he stopped having fun with us and started having fun at our (your) expense. That’s the point that you threw Barbie’s cruelly decapitated body across the Chuck E Cheese and threw yourself on the floor. Why would I ignore a sideshow like that? To be honest, you’re informative, intelligent and speak (type) well. You’re also haughty, intolerant of criticism and, in general, kinda a jerk.
Oh, we all are, to a degree. You're still pretentious, but you've dulled the edge and stepped it up on the humor front. I think I joined the cBS (as @bluez liked to call them) around 2001. I really don't recall, but I know it was a long time ago. @SAS, you've matured greatly in that time, but, you were like 12 then, so it's hard to judge.
I was just trying to make a point that was kinda 'pointless' anyway considering no one in here will have any influence on draft day. And I assure you none of that was fun for me.
I just remember the days on these boards where we were not sassy little punks to each other. I miss the fun, the jocularity and the feeling of community. I suppose the boards started losing my attention when Ryan died, and almost completely lost me when Dale died. I got pretty close with Dale. We’d had dinner a few times, and I got to know his son pretty well. As far as all of us play pretending to be GMs, it’s all good fun. We all think we know everything, and we’re all aware that we’ll never reach a level of competence to be paid for it. I think we’d do well not to try to lord our theoretical genius over each other, or try so hard to tear each other down. As much as people complain about Stopper, he is at least semi polite most of the time.
just watched a podcast with Jim Donavan on the Johnny draft, and he shed some light (for me) on just how F'd up the Browns as an organization was that year, and it's incredible impact on the team. Gilbert and Manziel. Wow! Got me thinking about how things are progressing this year, and I'm pretty damn pleased. Dorsey set the wheels in motion with Landry / Taylor, now he's got Stanton (to Johnny's point "no one was there to help me") so we "can draft a QB and even train him this time. Job one is well on the way to completion GET A QB. I admittedly don't really know much about the various other signings on an individual basis, but I know it's a clear message that we are not going to be playing with a full roster of inexperienced players. Dorsey clearly plans to change the mix, so the young guys who do make the roster, have mentors, who know the game. I like what I see, and even feel like I understand it. At the very least it seems cohesive, and targeted toward winning now, in lieu of some nebulous future. Sashi did the heavy lifting and took the heat for it over it for the last two years, but I honestly think it "was" the plan. Completely tear it down, and stock the roster with youth, aiming for "this draft" to start the move up. I just don't think anyone thought year 2 (last year) would be so horrific, but Hue's ineptitude with QBs sunk the ship. So now we have a geniune Offensive Coordinator, and Hue won't be the QB guru (yeah!), and we are bringing in some veteran guys, and with lots of draft capital left, we should expect a truly New Browns team this year. I'm all in.
