I agree with this 100%. Both players come with risk but Allen is the better all around receiver. Watkins is a deep speed guy who doesn’t have the same rout running skills that Robinson gives you. It Is a bit refreshing that Pace went all in on a marquee FA finally.
Robinson is a really crisp route runner when he's healthy. Like stop on a dime and make a cornerback break his ankles kind of route runner.
Robinson was the lesser of the 2 evils I would say , what worried me about Watkins is getting big money and all of a sudden his hammy is really , really sore . Hope Robinson and Cam both can recover and be very productive as they are now num 1 and 2 safe to say. So does this mean they are definitely going DEF round 1 ??????
Lol 2015 - amazing year (note - with the same inaccurate Bortles) 2016 - wasn’t awful. A roster full of wasn’t awfuls doesn’t go very far... I agree, the Bears have a huge need at WR, and money to burn, and the league punishes foolish GMs that allow these kind of holes to develop on their teams. So, yeah, it was inevitable they would overpay. I knew it, but I don’t have to be happy about it. I would much rather have seen them overpay for a WR with a proven track record of excellence. I don’t think giving up a pair of 3rd rounders (well, not sure we have a 3rd, but Pace coulda offered more than the 4th and 7th Landry went for) and 15 mil a year for Landry, who has had 4 excellent years in a row, was too much. Giving up a bit more for a proven stud = worth it, to me.
Obviously Nagy thinks he can be the Travis Kelce of this offense. Apparently he also thinks Shaheen cannot be.
Name a receiver available right now that fits the bill of having a proven track record of excellence? After Robinson the names were... Marquise Lee Donte Moncrief Paul Richardson Danny Amendola Eric Decker Tyler Gabriel Kendall Wright Terrelle Pryor And a whole lot of other guys either past their prime or never had or will have a prime.
They actually play two separate positions. Shaheen is more of an H while Burton was the F in Philly. They can co-exist.
No, you’re right, there isn’t shit out there now. I’m still pissed they didn’t try harder for Landry.
