Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

Nothing as long as it doesnt cost us much to move up to grab him. I do think we either need to move up or draft BPA rather than need if we stay where we are.

 

Well Derwin will impact the game the same way Troy did so I dont think it matters on the cost(#28, 2nd and 4th rounder if they dont want Davis)

Shaquem Griffin just jumped to the top of my list. 227 and 6'1" ran a 4.38. He has blown up the combine, much like Shazier, and would probably start immediately. I feel he's gone in the middle of the first though.

 

He's had a great combine no doubt but this is the NFL not UConn, Temple etc....it will be very hard for him to shed NFL OL....if they get engaged party over

 

He's a great story, but do you really believe he is a first round prospect? I haven't seen him play much, but I just can't imagine with the responsibilities of an NFL linebacker that he can compete at the highest level. Tackling the best running backs he's ever faced, covering the beasts that are NFL linebackers and trying to intercept passes. I hope he succeeds.

I know NFL linebackers have played with a cast on their hands a few times, but they are already starters on their teams and it has hampered their play in the past. This kid isn't a starter, doesn't know these defenses and hasn't proven himself a valuable member of a team. Not sure a team will risk a high pick on this kid.

 

Go get Josh Sweat mid rounds...he tested great...also I mentioned right after the Shazier injury....a deep sleeper was Matthew Thomas(very similar to Shazier)....well he killed the combine and will be on the rise....lost his mom a few yrs ago and hopes to overcome that tragedy w a great NFL career

 

1. Jim Abbott-Yes its not football but come on he pitched for crying out loud and did so for 10 years throwing a no hitter in that span
2. When you play with a cast on your hand you are playing without a hand that you recently lost the use of as opposed to not having it for the majority of your life.

 

I see Griffin lasting into the 3rd round. His 40 time pushed him way up the board, but not to the 1st round though.

 

Not sure of your reasoning here Jean. Not a very realistic argument.

 

Im not saying he is a first rounder but to say he cant play because guys who have played in a cast (and are one handed) is apples to oranges

Don't think I said that either. I did say he isn't a starter. He will be a rookie coming onto a team.

 

Regardless of what you said or didn't say or whatever Wazoo hole you want to run down or up the point you were making is one handed player had not played well when they have played and the point I'm am making is you cant compare him to them because its different when you are used to playing one handed all of your life opposed to a guy who is in a cast for 3 weeks.
