Was gonna drop this in to the FA thread but you know what, this guy deserves his own thread. Never a great probably, but for a long time a very very good. One of the best "vision" backs to come along in the last 20years, with a Major in the screen pass. A good team mate who was popular in the locker room by all accounts, and never a diva or a rah rah look at me type. Which is one of the reasons why i believe he was always underrated around the media-whore focused league. I remember in like 2014 after Forte finished 2nd in the league in rushing and 4th in receiving among backs, he did an interview on NFL network after being dissed in the Top 100. The mouth breathing idiot that is Warren Sapp saying you got ranked 91st and like 9th among RB's cos you didn't go 1,000 & 1,000. Forte dealt with that kinda stupidity from fans and "experts" his whole career. Not to brag, but i loved that pick from the second it was made. I still remember jumping out my seat when he broke that big TD against the Colts in his first game and thinking we may have found another one. As impressive as Forte's numbers are, 28th all-time scrimmage yards, 33rd all-time rushing, i can't help feeling he could've had even more if he wasn't the focal point of an often shitty Offense with everyone keying on him. Congrats on a heck of a career Matt, 2nd best value Bears jersey i ever bought, after Urlacher of course. Go Forte!! Go Bears!!
I have been and always will be a huge Matt Forte fan. I loved the way he played the game, and went about his business. Good dude, good player. Did outstanding things for a team that wasn't. Doesn't he still own the record for most receptions by a RB in a season (I recognize it was on a team and time we'd like to forget about, but...)? Matt Forte continued a cherished tradition of phenomenal RB's in Chicago. I appreciate him for his time, and wish him nothing but the best in his life after his playing career. Now I've gotta go back and watch some highlights...
Hard not to be a fan of Matt Forte and what he brought to the table on Sundays. Hated seeing him in Jet green to end his career.
I remember watching him in the senior bowl trucking defenders and showing good vision, I'm surprised the Bears actually drafted such a talent. I tried to find the 2008 senior bowl highlights to revisit, but only found him in one play (screen pass) because apparently the highlight reel only contained passes.
Forte was a class act. Very underrated. Could have been a HOF candidate if he was drafted by a better team. Glad he was a Bear though. No matter how the team was doing he was always worth watching.
One of my favorite Bears of all time. Not enough credit is given to him for making something out of nothing with his cut back style and always falling forward for an extra yard or two.
Well, I'm a happy man, today. This is what I was hoping for. Give this man the damn reception that he deserves. Cheers, Matt. All the best.
