Ex-Bear Charles Tillman is now an FBI agent

Former Bears cornerback Charles Tillman isn’t taking it easy in retirement.

Tillman has become an FBI agent, Sporting News reports. The FBI would not confirm the report.

Although he surely doesn’t need the money — Tillman made tens of millions of dollars in his NFL career — he likely sees this as an opportunity to serve his country. Tillman’s father was in the Army, and during his playing career Tillman worked with organizations that support members of the military.

Tillman was the Bears’ second-round draft pick in 2003 and played for them for 12 years. He then played one final year for the Panthers in 2015. He was a two-time Pro Bowler, once a first-team All-Pro, three times was given the Brian Piccolo Award as the player who best exemplifies the values of the Bears organization, and in 2013 was named the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year.

Tillman began the intense training to become an FBI agent last year, and he qualified just in time: The FBI does not accept new agents after their 37th birthdays, and Tillman’s 37th birthday is today. (PFT)

Why are they so interested in trading Peters? They have a QB on a rookie contract.

They are also in cap hell. Looks like a team is in limbo. Chiefs are not going to the playoffs next season, bank on it.

In any other division you might be right but 8-8 could win that division. Unless you think Chucky is going to make the raiders 14-2 and win 7 of the next 8 superbowls

Their cap situation isn't as bad as you think once they get rid of their old guys on defense and since they traded Smith. This is not about cap, at least not directly. This is about stubbornness.

Who is Jonathon Martin? He used to play for the dolphins, big trouble.

    Jonathan Martin taken into custody

Authorities have taken former Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin into custody, Matt Stone of ABC News reports.

Martin’s former high school, Harvard-Westlake High School in California, closed for the day after it became aware of a social media post from Martin’s private Instagram account.

The post included the words, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge.” It had the hashtags #MiamiDolphins and #HarvardWestlake. It also included an image of a shotgun and shells.

Martin tagged Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito in the post. He accused his former Dolphins teammates of bullying him when the three played together in Miami.

After two years in Jacksonville, Chris Ivory is out.

The Jaguars have released Ivory today.

Ivory showed a lot of promise early in his career with the Saints and became a 1,000-yard rusher in 2015 with the Jets, but after signing with the Jaguars in 2016 he never became their starter and averaged less than four yards a carry in both of his seasons with the team.

Now Ivory hits free agency. He turns 30 next month, and running backs on the wrong side of 30 rarely get big money, but he’ll probably land with some team seeking veteran depth in the backfield.

Wow. Pretty stupid even if he wasn’t insinuating that he was going to do something. Anyway you read that post doesn’t look good.

a guy on CBS Sportsline had all these hypothetical trades. he has the Vikings trading a low second rd pick for nick foles. I was looking in the article for what else they were trading. that's it a low 2nd rd pick. haha. that's when I closed the article. Foles is worth more than that.

I could see the Eagles taking a second round pick for him.

    Dallas Cowboys...

Dez Bryant: “Everybody that ain’t with Dez Bryant, they can kiss my ass”

Receiver Dez Bryant hasn’t discussed a pay cut with the Cowboys and expects to wear a star on his helmet next season. He also plans to prove doubters wrong after three consecutive seasons without 1,000 yards.

“I’m still working. I’m still grinding,” Bryant said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I feel like I’m grinding more than ever because of me, not because of nobody else. It’s something that I want to do. It’s something I feel like I have to do.

“I let a lot of things get in the way that should have never got in the way. I’m ready to make my mark. I don’t care what nobody is talking about, I couldn’t care less. Everybody that ain’t with Dez Bryant, they can kiss my ass.”

Bryant, who has not had a 100-yard game since November 13, 2016, going 23 games without one, has a $16.5 million salary cap figure for 2018. The Cowboys are expected to ask Bryant to take a pay cut, with executive vice president Stephen Jones saying of Bryant on Thursday, “We all know this is a business where everyone has to be accountable.”

“I haven’t heard a word from anybody,” Bryant said. “I have yet to talk to my agent about anything.”

Bryant answered, “Hell no” when asked if he could imagine playing for another team. (PFT)

Jaguars reportedly extend Blake Bortles' contract, keeping him through 2020
    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ke-bortles-contract-keeping-him-through-2020/

ne of the biggest offseason questions now has an answer. Blake Bortles will be the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars next season, and will be sticking around longer than that. According to multiple reports, the Jaguars will sign Bortles to a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2020 season.

The #Jaguars and QB Blake Bortles are finalizing a multi-year extension that keeps him in Jacksonville for years to come, sources say. It’s essentially done and should be official tonight.

The Jaguars surprised many around the league by picking up the $14 million fifth-year option on Bortles' contract prior to last season. That dollar amount would have become guaranteed if the Jaguars did not cut ties with Bortles by March 14, a decision complicated by the fact that he underwent offseason shoulder surgery. Instead, that decision will not have to be made as Bortles has been signed to a new deal.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Bortles' contract is likely to lower his 2018 cap hit, allowing the Jaguars more maneuverability under the cap in order to re-sign players and plug the holes on their roster. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the specific financials of the deal, which guarantees Bortles $26.5 million.

Jaguars are giving QB Blake Bortles a new three-year, $54 million deal, worth up to $66.5M with incentives, that includes $26.5M guaranteed, tying him to Jacksonville through the 2020 season, per source.

    Jacksonville out of QB market.

Bortles has been largely unimpressive and occasionally catastrophic as the Jaguars' starter since being drafted with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he has shown flashes of competence during that time. The team minimized his role in the offense during the 2017 season, leaning on the defense and the running game to pummel teams into submission. It worked like wonders, sending the Jags to the AFC title game.

It was a common school of thought heading into the offseason that an upgrade at quarterback to push the Jaguars over the top in the AFC given the quality of their defense, but that would have necessitated cutting ties with Bortles, paying a free-agent top dollar, and potentially forgoing filling other holes on the roster. It could have been done, but it would have been tight. Instead, the Jags elected to stay the course. It seems likely that they bring in at least some veteran competition/insurance for Bortles, but a two-year extension seems to point toward him remaining the starter.

does a team really wanna mentor baker mayfield for 2-3 yrs or roll with Foles now ? depends on how close is a team to winning. if you have seasons to waste then draft a QB and mentor him. if you wanna win now-trade for Foles and roll the dice.
