Bosa, Goff and Ramsey were actually 3 of the top 5 players selected...Tunsil had a solid pic of him before draft day lol
You must spend all day looking at Walter Football. The same guy who said Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen were returning to college. Here's Pro Football Focus Mock Draft 2 where they have Baker Mayfield #1 overall. That's one.
Sometimes, I try to put myself in your shoes. Not only would I find it insanely difficult to support my positions by what "most mock drafts" are doing, but then also to think that a player currently occupying the 5th or 6th overall spot isn't worth taking 4-5 picks earlier at #1 just because "most mock drafts" don't do it. This isn't like saying, "Boy... I really like QB-X and he's projected as a sixth round pick... let's take him #1 overall." Mind boggling.
Likewise, every mock draft you're using to support you position has lost all credibility because (1) you're actually using it as a reference to your point, and (2) it's written by someone within the media who isn't John Dorsey or anyone from John Dorsey's staff. I don't care what Melvin Kiper Jr. (just assuming it's Melvin here) and Walter Cherpinksi (Sobchak?) think or write. Dorsey and McCloughan like Mayfield and they are the one's making the decision for the Cleveland Browns.
Question is, what would you have to give up for Foles? He managed (well really, he did more than just manage) three very good playoff games, including the biggest one of them all... I know he crashed and burned in St. Louis, but should we be considering him as the veteran we need? He has 3 extremely team friendly years left on his contract, just about right to see where Mayfield is. So, the post Super Bowl thought: Trade #35 to the Eagles for Nick Foles Free agency: Malcolm Butler Jarvis Landry Terrelle Pryor Nate Solder (he would make the second player added from Super Bowl LII, protecting the SB MVP on the Browns) NFL Draft(Using Fanspeak Mock Draft Website): 1.1.1. Wrong again. Hurst = STUD He will be a disruptive force. Reminds of Warren Sapp....I put him on the "cant miss" list a month ago and said he was one of the best players in this draft. Of course you immediately told me how wrong I was, and informed me that Payne and Vea and Wilkins were so much better, so I guess we'll see...I'm actually not surprised at all to see Hurst popping up in the top 5 of mocks...
Those are big shoes to fill....the point is 99% of the mocks dont have him going #1....those other QBs are just better NFL style QBs
Wilkins stayed to try and win a championship....Payne is the best DT in the draft while Vea is the best NT so it will be a defensive scheme team depending on where they go
I like it...I don't see Hubbard making it to the 3rd rd., but that would be a steal, and this plan looks good. I really like Josey Jewell. I've been puting in a lot of time looking at LB's and that would be a great pick at 4.1 IMO...The best part is having Foles under contract for 4 more years (I think) on the cheap. We would be in fantastic shape at QB..
I agree on Hubbard, but I used Fanspeak and all I can do is draft what's available...it could happen. But, Foles for clarification, has 3 years left on his contract as long as he isn't on the Eagles on the 23rd day of the league year. If he is on the Eagles roster, the last 3 years of the contract void. I would think they would be very motivated to trade him before that happens. As would any team that wants him, his contract is for $6.1M per year over those 3 years...Talk about a bargain, IF he continues to play the way he did. The only thing I worry about is if he was simply perfectly fit to the system...if so, what would it take to get Haley to convert? Regardless, I think he would have to prove himself to be a self reliant starting QB in 2018 in order to maintain the spot over Mayfield. I honestly think Mayfield will be ready to start by mid season, however, I would prefer he use this entire season to learn how to become a pro...that hasn't been his MO in the past though..as a walk on to instant starter. This may be what we need anyway if Foles isn't traded for. (edit) My apologies, he is actually under contract for 4 years, just as you stated TD..It's 2019 that the final 3 years could void if on the Eagles roster day 23 of the 2019 league year...
Instant reaction Monday, but I heard people using the Sam Bradford deal (first and fourth round picks) as the low end. Seems high, but Foles > Bradford for sure.
I like Fanspeak, but don't like it for that reason. I feel that people vote down players just so they're available at later rounds/picks.
I don't use the fan voted scenario, I either use Matt Miller or Drafftek, then the Big Board, I select multiple so that would hopefully segment out those anomalies.
Rosen will likely turn out very good if the Giants take him. He’ll get time to sit behind a guy that’s done it all, and preps like it. Eli has to be aware the ride is almost over, so with the pick he’d know the deal. Darnold would be best served being drafted by the Packers, he’ll need more time. Mayfield is very good, and he has all of the intangibles that we really need right now. There’s fire behind that talent. I don’t think that he’ll be better than Rosen in the long run, but I think he has the ability to get this janky assed franchise off it’s knees, and put fans in the stands. The draft is all SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess). No one really knows
I can agree w the latter, but Rosen has the makeup you look for...mechanics, intelligence, arm strength and pocket awareness to succeed
for the first time in awhile, I was bored this afternoon... Say we decide to spend money on free agency to complete the defensive transformation...I won't go into the "how" since I only did the second part of this... An ALL offense draft. Fanspeak once again, so it isn't mere guessing where guys will be available, it was actually based on the availability on the website: 1.1 Saquon Barkley RB 1.4 Baker Mayfield QB 2.1 Christian Kirk WR 2.3 Kolton Miller OT 2.32 Rashaad Penny RB 3.1 Mike Gesecki TE 4.1 Auden Tate WR 4.23 Troy Fumagalli TE 5.1 Deontay Burnett WR 5.22 Luke Falk QB 6.1 Equinimeous St. Brown WR 7.1 George Senat OT In this edition, it is use the running game to help the young QB get acclimated.
