I think the talk does matter. Any time you have to answer questions about off field issues and stupid quotes you take time away from thinking about football. Teams mirror their coach. Just look at the Pats. BB totally gets that. The team is a total reflection of him and it works because he is hungry and focused.

Tomlin thinks he's cool and trendy and bigger than life so this team acts that way. They look ahead to big games and play down to bad teams because they get too emotional and lack cold effeciency. I truly feel they won in 08 because of Lebeau and players that learned under Cowher. I bet Cowher has this team in the SB. Say what you will but he was a much better game and season manager than Tomlin.

Should Mike Tomlin be fired? No, but if I'm Art Rooney, I'm making sure Tomlin knows his seat is warming up if he doesn't change his act and enforces muzzles on all his players. The Jaguars were legitimately pissed off that the Steelers blatantly overlooked them, so they made the Steelers the laughing stocks of the NFL and so embarrassed the entire organization. Fans can't pride themselves on the conduct of their team anymore. We aren't the good guys if Mike Tomlin is all-in on the smack talk.

This article is fucking trash, btw. I don't know what idiots the author thinks he's talking to. Internal drama is nothing to get upset over. Giving the other team bulletin board material, however, and openly looking ahead to games that may not (won't) happen is not just humiliating for the fanbase and the organization, but it's also as stupid a player or a coach can be aside from handing over photo copies of your playbook. Why would you even do that? I guess I don't get it since my IQ is above 90.

He is the Tubby Smith of the NFL and he would be fired already were it not for Ben Roethlisberger, Hall of Fame quarterback (you know, the guy he won't let QB sneak). For those who don't recall. Tubby won an early title with Rick Pitino's players and imo he had a lot of the same all show and less go to him. Wasn't very good at player evaluations imo.

Mike “Tubby” Tomlin will never win another SB. And I’m not even gonna go into a “I hope I’m wrong” phase because I know he will not.

His record is smoke and mirrors to hide his ineptitude. He’s overrated. And I have no expectations under this current regime. They may win that shitty division again next year but they’ll fook up again under his leadership and cause more despair for Steelers nation.

    Thank You

I don't know if you noticed the link to the larger ESPN article but see below as it may make more sense after that. My take was that he was saying something more alng the lines of what you were saying Demo, but maybe something was lost in translation?

Big Ben wants Tomlin gone bc of the lack of team discipline etc?

I completely understand Ben if this is true. Mike "This is the new norm" Tomlin, however, just needs to be slapped in the face, metaphorically, by Art Rooney. If that doesn't work, fire him mid-season for all I care and appoint Munchak as the interim.

Honestly, the possibility of the most influential player on the team being as frustrated as I am really excites me.

The fact that Munchak didn't even go for a second interview for a head coach position makes one hopeful.

Follow that link and READ. Jeesh cmon guys what more evidence do we need?????????

Tomlin is a JOKE OK for what he tolerates....

    #CleanHouse

Also FLUSH BELL .... sick and tired of his crap. Skipping the final Saturday walk thru before Jags game, really?

    According to Ed Bouchette:

"As another example, Tomlin wants players and coaches to report to the locker room two hours before kickoff for games. That was continually ignored by both players and a coach or two.

Not only did Bell arrive much later than that for the playoff game against Jacksonville (as well as one coach), he missed practically the entire Saturday walk-through the day before, showing up about five minutes before practice ended.

Tomlin’s reaction to Mitchell supposedly yelling at the Jaguars outside their locker room before the playoff game?

“That’s part of what I was talking about in today’s climate,” he replied. “That’s really kind of irrelevant to me.”"

It reminds me a little of Troy Aikman when the coaching change came from Jimmy Johnson to Barry Switzer, if you watch the "A Football Life" on him he was openly frustrated when the team lost discipline and went out of control under Switzer
