I could have bought that in other years where they were running away with the #1 seed but this game was so important to them. The Pats knew they HAD to win yesterday. The Steelers needed the game too, but if the Pats had lost, not only would they have had no shot at the #1 seed (two games back plus the tie-breaker with two to go), they would have fallen to the #3 seed and been out of the playoff bye position based on tie-breakers with the Jags at 10-4.

You can't seriously tell me that the Pats, with that scenario in front of them, were somehow holding back yesterday. Sorry, but that's just silly.

Agree, however may u please share ur wisdom on the following to make me feel better about my concerns:

    1. Are u confident they get the #2 seed for sure?

    2. Are u confident they beat Jacksonville? I see that as a very very bad matchup.

We won’t win up there but I’m pretending we will bc of the terrible towel thing

If by some fluke we won up there though, I’d be dancing in the streets and rubbing it in with every flipping Patriots fan I know

Yeah, I think they win the last two games and get the bye week. And don't sleep on a desperate Bills team next week against the Pats.

Its funny, I just told somebody that I think the Jags are pretenders. I don't think there's a chance in hell the Jags come into Heinz Field and win again. I also don't think they get out of the Wildcard round because I think they'll be one and done.

When Brady and the pats needed to how wasily did they move down the field?

Both teams will make adjustments. Which coaching staff do you have the most confidence in?

I'm amazed that the Jags are somehow a superpower with Blake F-in' Bortles at QB. Remember that, folks. Teams without QBs wilt in the playoffs.

He is a good QB in my opinion and a decent part of their success too.

He has had way crap receivers compared to Ben and yet last 3 years:

    35 TD. 18 Picks
    23 TD. 16 Picks
    19 TD. 8 Picks

His passer rating is 90 this year

    He is good man

I don’t get your Blake Bortles sucks routine but I usually agree with what you are saying

I think Blake stole your cheetohs at lunch in high school. Lol

His team also boasts the #1 overall defense and the #1 rushing offense. It's hard to look bad as a QB if you have that supporting you.

True but isn’t that what they used to say about Big Ben at that stage in his career?

I’m not gonna knock the guy for having a good defense.

Thing is , he always kinda somewhat reminded me of Ben on tape in college.

But what do I know bc I thought Kizer would be good hahah. Yes I will admit now I was dead wrong on that....however from Ben thru 2017 I’ve been 90-some odd percent right in my QB draft evaluations. Id like to say Bortles was an example of being right. I guess we can debate it though.

A little less easily than the Steelers did when they needed to. :p

Maybe you're right, Jean. Maybe I shouldn't take the confidence from that game that I do. However, the ONLY way to beat the Patriots consistently over the years has been to press the receivers and pressure up the middle. Its been the design for years, has Belichick ever found an effective adjustment? Not many teams, including the Steelers, have the personnel to do it effectively, which is why only a handful of teams have ever had consistent success against the Pats. For the first time since 2004, the Steelers seem to have the personnel to accomplish what they need to defensively. They won't shut Brady and Gronk down completely, but with this offense they don't need to.

If these teams play again I expect more of the same from the Steelers defense and, if Haden is healthy, I expect them to be even more effective. I also don't think that their defense can effectively stop our offense with Bell, Brown and Ben all playing well as they are right now.

    Forgive me.

Spot on IMO. I was amazed at the ease in which the Steelers often moved the ball yesterday and especially against the Ravens last week. Even with no AB they put up 400+ yards. If they're good enough they can win. Sooner or later they have to overcome a bad match up.

    But for now.....On to Texas.

Nothing to forgive and the D is likely to play better and if Brwon is there the O will be better too but can you trust the coaching staff. They have not shown much the last two games and yes i realize we won the Ravens game. The smart thing to do was spike the ball and go to overtime. Instead they made a piss poor choice. They also blew it in the ravens game when they didnt run the ball and force then ravens to use a time out and then we kill more clock before kicki g the FG. Because we won nobody wants to point out mistakes like thatbbutnthose are the kind that kill you in the playoffs and seem to constantly make the Patriots look better than they are.

Steelers have the better roster, coaching was the difference once again. There's no way the Patriots lose a game that way.
If there's a year for a team to take the AFC from NE its this one and it's Pitt.

  19. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

If you mean there's no way Brady would throw a ball like that into traffic when you're in FG territory I agree. But I think that's less about coaching and more about mental aptitude of the QB position.

  20. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

perhaps but the Patriots wouldnt be giving him mixed signals from the sidelines and wouldnt have only one receiver move once the ball was snapped.
terrible throw but mass confusion on Pitt's part.
