Dale Tallon, general manager of the Florida Panthers, has been in the news, yet again. No, it’s not another demotion by promotion. Tallon has been a pile of suck for his management career. Hockey Boo-yahs have been pumping his tires erroneously for years. He's a good front man since he enjoys the sound of himself speaking and he can dupe people into signing for him, but outside of that he's a disaster in terms of building an effective hockey ops department.

He walked into plum gigs with time, money, and set table few gms/presidents have ever been able to enjoy and he couldn't do anything with it. Nothing was working in Chicago until ownership took the keys away from him and he wasted assets consistently throughout his decade plus at the helm like few gms could have. All his gains in FLA were immediately offset.

Dale has hit on some of his late picks since 2010, and those successful 4th round and later types are doing very well in other cities.
