Todays call comes from new joisey.

Byfuglien didn't know he was drafted by Chicago for 3 days because they couldn't get a hold of him.
He was on a fishing trip.

I'm a big Buff fan, as a human. If he was portrayed by Lennie as this great defensemen, I would be singing his song to the hockey gods.

How do I get embedding to work?

Panthers take out St. Louis in dominating fashion. This team is fun to watch, and if they can keep this energy and style of play going all year long, they're going to be dangerous, too.

happy to see McCoshen up. i think he's gonna quietly become an excellent NHL Dman like Dumoulin.

He has been an excellent surprise, so far. I was skeptical, at first, especially after they let Demers go, but after watching him in the preseason, I've also got a feeling that there's something there. He's got a good head on his shoulders, he's learning fast, and he's willing and able to step up when needed. He's made some goal-saving defensive plays in just these three games, so far. He had to fight several guys off for that spot, so here's to hoping he keeps earning it.

He got his first NHL goal last night. He was wide open entering the zone on the rush, they got him the puck, and his exact quote after the game was "Are you sure you want me to shoot it? Me? Okay...". The look of elation and surprise on his face after it went in is worth the time.

I’ve liked McCoshen over Matheson for a long time. Matheson might bring more to the table offensively but McCoshen is more reliable in the other zones. Probably a personal preference kind of a thing but I like the defensive Dman more than the gambler.

Personally, I agree with you, in regards to what I look for in a D-man. That said, I think Matheson is going to be fine on the defensive end. You can see his athleticism helping him make plays, and he's still young and developing, too. Moreover, given the current system of hockey the team is employing, he's a great fit, being able to really contribute on the offensive end. An 8 year deal for as much as they paid him might've been a little much for my tastes, but, eh...

I'm looking forward to McCoshen coming on. This team needs good defenders, and young ones are a bonus. Yandle was a poor buy, and Ekblad has stopped progressing. Having reliable play from our bottom two pairs has been one of the biggest reasons that our second and third line have ben able to make the kind of contributions that they have (the second hasn't gotten much in the way of stats on the board, but they're playing with the effort necessary).

Pyser has been playing steadily, but not spectacularly, for the Swamp Cats. Am I right?

Unless Asplund really comes on in a year or two, (the pick Buffalo moved up for), that 2016 draft-day trade is looking mighty lopsided, (BTW, Asplund did wow us at camp this summer). The Ruskie got hurt right away in a weird accident and then sulked or was misused by Bylsma. It was probably both; regardless he's now a Jet. Pyser has a very good attitude and I think can develop into a very steady player.

Asplund ? haha. that's a tree service for cutting down trees near power lines in the state of -Pa.

Pysyk has been alright. He was another guy with whom, when he was first added, I was unhappy - especially later, when they protected him in the expansion draft. But he has improved since he's been here, and he's a second line guy along with Matheson. "Unspectacular" is a good descriptor, but I am looking for more out of him. If he's just a sound defender, I think we'll all be happy. I'm not sure he's there, yet. He has made some notables plays, so I'm hoping that improvement continues. The new staff and system has done absolute wonders for this team.

Cat, in a couple of years all those tree cutters in PA can wear a Sabres sweater with the company name on the back. He was a second round pick that most projected for the first.

Pysyk is a darling of the advanced stats crowd. I think he'll have a long and successful career. About five minutes after he retires he'll be completely forgotten about. Every team should be so lucky to one or two of that type on their roster.

Dan-i think the glory years are coming to Buffalo. They have a good young team and Eichel signed and happy. the old veteran lead teams will get older and slower and youth takes over. buffalo has a ton of youth.
