Colbert/Tomlin have now reconstructed what will hopefully be the next great Steelers defense. With Tuitt signed to an extension, the projected entire starting defense will remain in tact the next two seasons, and six of the front-7 the next three+ years. The lone perceived weak spot (Williams-ILB) might be UPGRADED in the coming year or two via the draft/trade. This is a YOUNG, highly talented/athletic, and VERSATILE defense. Its all about the matchups and if you can mitigate any opponent any given week, regardless of whatever kind of offense they run.........you can win and win consistently for years. With the exception of Heyward/Mitchell/Hayden, all are 27 or under, and even those three are on the right side of 30. I'm sure Sapp will STILL say it isn't young enough. They now have what they want...........a young group on the rise that will hit its collective prime together mixed with a few vets currently there that will come of age. With the exception of J-Wobble (3rd rounder), their entire defense consists of 1st and 2nd round talent. Stay healthy...........get after em boys!!
And looks like 2017 we won't get to see them at full strength together at any point..............JUST LIKE LAST YEAR.............AND THE YEAR BEFORE. JFC!! 4 snaps, two tackles for loss, and Tuitt is likely done for the year. Unreal. Anyone else feel like we may never..............EVER.........get to see this defense at full strength and on the field together for any extended period of time? Sheesh.
SK, right now we are "hearing" that Stephon Tuitt "tore his biceps" - which means IR (not designated to return). In looking at various reports, I am seeing Adam Schefter referenced as the source of information. However, I did find the following http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com...-sp-tuitt-steelers-biceps-mri-0910-story.html If it is not the "season ending" type of injury, then Tuitt may be back in a few weeks. According to the article, Lets hope and pray for the best.
A season-ending injury to Tuitt would be disheartening and not to mention frustrating. Despite our win yesterday there's not too much positive we can glean from yesterday's game except that Antonio Brown happens to be himself. EDIT: Oh yeah, and at least we can rack up seven sacks on an offensive line that will show its status as top-5 in the NFL before the season ends.
IMO - Tuitt is the last defensive player I want to see on IR. I think he's their best player on D, underrated in the same category as Aaron Smith.
I'll give you 1 or 2 legit sacks against the Browns' O-line. The rest were the result of Kizer holding the ball too long.

Not everything the guy does shows up on the stat line. He is EQUALLY disruptive and astute stopping the run as he is rushing the passer. Strong at the point of attack, uses great leverage, can shed blocks, is fast, versatile, and his 84 inch wingspan covers a lot of space. He is perfectly suited for their defense as a 3-4 DE, has been dominant at times in games even his rookie year, just needed to be more consistent. Doesn't need to come of the field for any down/distance except for an occasional breather. Not a ton of talented guys like that in the league. He's not replaceable. So frustrating.
Here is a short article that highlights TJ Watt's debut performance and makes some interesting comparisons, along with a reference to the 1987 Replacement Season. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...att-shines-with-twosack-oneint-steelers-debut
From Steelerswire.com REPORT: Stephon Tuitt biceps injury leaving him week-to-week for now Great news if the report is accurate! Even if Alualu had to start the next game against the Vikings, getting Tuitt back is huge!
More support for Tuitt still playing this season From San Diego Tribune UPDATED: Biceps injury might not even keep Stephon Tuitt out one game From http://pit.247sports.com Stephon Tuitt is week-to-week with biceps injury, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.
Thomas is an All Pro just for suiting up....they had no run game and gave up 7 sacks...the unit is not top 5
