I hope this means Tanner Gentry keeps a spot. Here's the rest of the cuts so far: DL - Kapron Lewis-Moore LB - Alex Scearce TE - MyCole Pruitt WR - Victor Cruz OL - Taylor Boggs QB - Connor Shaw FB - Freddie Stevenson OL - Mitchell Kirsch LB - Kelvin Sheppard OL - Will Poehls CB - Rashaad Reynolds OL - Cyril Richardson
Sheppard seemed to be the best of the lot. Shaw shit the bed the last game taking that safety and a sack when he was out of the pocket and could of thrown it away. I'm also done with Houston after he celebrated a TFL in the first half in the 4th game of the fucking PRESEASON, and then he got injured in the last half. Fuck'em!
Picking up Aguayo and then cutting him costs around 428K.....smart. And Tanner Gentry outperformed every receiver in camp and gets cut....while Deonte Thompson, who's best accomplishment I can see is getting his uniform on correctly, has a roster spot.
He's not like Braverman. Gentry can actually play. Gentry gone (and likely will not clear waivers). Meanwhile "Hands of Stone" Bellamy still on the team.
Looks like Lamarr Houston finally gone for good. Bears linebacker Lamarr Houston‘s latest injury was not a serious one. The Bears are done with him anyway. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bears are placing Houston on injured reserve with plans of working out an injury settlement. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-on-ir-with-plans-to-reach-injury-settlement/
Taylor Boggs cut. Interestingly, this is the same clown Fox thought was good enough to protect our QB - he was the center snapping the ball to Trubisky Thursday.
Here's what the Tribune is reporting for the 53 QUARTERBACKS (3): Mike Glennon, Mark Sanchez, Mitch Trubisky RUNNING BACKS (5): Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham, Jeremy Langford, FB Michael Burton WIDE RECEIVERS (5): Kevin White, Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson TIGHT ENDS (5): Zach Miller, Dion Sims, Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, Daniel Brown OFFENSIVE LINE (8): Charles Leno, Kyle Long, Cody Whitehair, Josh Sitton, Bobby Massie, Hroniss Grasu, Tom Compton, Bradley Sowell DEFENSIVE LINE (5): Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Mitch Unrein, Jonathan Bullard, Roy Robertson-Harris OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS (4) Leonard Floyd, Willie Young, Pernell McPhee, Sam Acho INSIDE LINEBACKERS (4): Jerrell Freeman, Danny Trevathan, Nick Kwiatkoski, Christian Jones CORNERBACKS (6): Prince Amukamara, Marcus Cooper, Bryce Callahan, Kyle Fuller, Cre’Von LeBlanc, Sherrick McManis SAFETIES (5): Quintin Demps, Eddie Jackson, Adrian Amos, Deon Bush, Deiondre’ Hall SPECIALISTS (3): Connor Barth, Pat O’Donnell, Jeff Overbaugh
My list of players I would have cut instead of Gentry; 1) Sanchez 2) Wheaton 3) Bellamy 4) McPhee 5) Langford 6) Burton 7) Brown 8) Braunecker 9) Sowell 10) McManis
TIGHT ENDS (5): Zach Miller, Dion Sims, Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, Daniel Brown Oh good....we cut Gentry so we could carry 5 tight ends. Genius.
Hope Willie Young is ready for a crazy iron man type marathon season.....only 4 edges? McPhee and Floyd have been injured; McPhee likely isn't going to hold up the entire season, and Acho isnt good enough to take on a starter's role. I also hope Jordan Howard can hold up. Since Mike Glennon makes me cringe every time he throws, is this where Fox and Frodo unveil a triple option offense? It would almost make sense. Ben Braunacher AND Brown? Why? To be run heavy? Dont you already like Shaheen and Sims at blocking? If you cut one or both neither will get claimed/picked up unless a wave of TEs get injured. Or is Fox just being an asshole and will roll out with 5 TE sets? Bears better hope Gentry makes the PS. The receivers nauseate me. Josh Bellamy? Why? Can Ryan Pace please be on the waiver wire for cut WRs who immediately (not saying much) make the WRs better?
Sad to see Carey didn't make it. 5TEs is a bit crazy. Also, seeing it on paper, how sad is the CB and WR situation. Kevin White now doesn't have Cam Meredith in his way. Outside of Trubisky who we won't see until later in the year if at all, White is the #1 guy I have my eye on. #7 overall pick, he really needs to deliver.
I didn't see Carey on the 'cut' list, though. I know he was injured - maybe he's on IR? I've gotta echo the sentiments of everyone else here. I'm not sure what they're thinking with some of these. Gentry and Titus Davis were promising young WR's. If you're gonna keep shitty receivers, at least keep more than 5, and hang onto these guys. I mean, looking at that receiver roster physically hurt. That is a damn fine practice squad that we're fielding for real games. The TE's... I don't see the justification in keeping 5. I sure as hell don't see the justification when you've got the ones that you do. I don't see how Braunecker and Brown brought the most promising skill sets to the table of all the cuts/potential cuts. I hope I'm wrong. I also doubt we see these guys much, if at all, beyond special teams. Our front 7 roster is thin, considering the injuries/skill set. I liked some of our depth players, here. Not sure why they got the axe over the offensive players that are staying on. Gosh, safety is a bag of ass. I was critical of the Eddie Jackson pick, but looking at the roster as it is, he's probably a starter. I mean, shit. Those are our safeties??? Ugh. I don't know I thought it would've magically gotten better... Connor Barth won the competition with... Roberto Aguayo. Whoo. So, are they paying Mark Sanchez just to keep him employed? I mean, I get that the backup QB has specific responsibilities, and that he's definitely used to them, but is he really that good at them? I hope it's worth it. All I know is, Mark Sanchez has had one of the cushier jobs in the game, and the Bears are giving him another year at it. What must it be like to be a football player that knows you're not going to have to play football, and still get paid?
Where to start with this sh_t. - I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories.... but its hard to look at that roster and not think "tank". And Fox wouldn't willingly tank if he was truly on the hot seat. Which leads to the puke-inducing conclusion that Fox could see out his contract. That wrinkled f_ck may get 2 more years no matter how bad he does..... - Ok, put me in the "start Trubisky" camp. I mean look at that friggin roster, the QB won't be throwing the ball anyway. If its gonna be 80% handoffs then it may as well be Trubs than go-go gadget neck. - Pretty sure thats the worst Bears receiver corps ive ever seen. And man is THAT a statement! Fantastic work Pace. Incredible really. Chicago is no longer the place WR's come to die. They're already DOA now. - 5 TE's. Five. Tight Ends. - The only time i remember the FB being out there was seeing him wiff on a block leading to a TFL. Seriously tho, how much did that guy actually play? Will he even see the field? - Guess what, the team shat down the neck of the Safety position, same as every year. And i will now spend the next 4 months foolishly convincing myself that the late round draft pick could finally be the answer. Again, same as every year. - I don't know why, maybe it was just Trubisky, but i was actually starting to feel a shred of optimism about this season. This roster has seen to that. - Bit surprized at all the surprise over Bellamy making the team. I always thought he was in. He's an effective STer. The problems start when the receiver is asked to play receiver. So probably around week 3-4 when White's season ends. Looks like Lamarr Houston finally gone for good. Every cloud and all that.... Bumarr Houston, the bum, not being on the roster this year is one of the two highlights i see. The other is Trubisky making the team. Hey with these guys football acumen you assume nothing... Can Ryan Pace please be on the waiver wire for cut WRs who immediately (not saying much) make the WRs better? Gotta believe Pace is gonna add someone from waivers. Any vet with even average production walks straight into this team. Probably starts too. I also wouldn't rule out them looking to add a vet RB tbh. Langford made the cut by default, Carey was really unlucky with the timing. And im just not buying this FB bullsh_t. Come on pat, join in with me. FORTE, FORTE, FORTE, FORTE! Sad to see Carey didn't make it. I didn't see Carey on the 'cut' list, though. I know he was injured - maybe he's on IR? I think Carey def makes the team if not for the injury in preseason. I never heard how severe the injury was but the fact he's not made the cut means it prob wasn't minor/1 or 2 weeks. They're not gonna place a guy like Carey on IR with the designate to return, not a 3rd string RB. Besides isn't that already going to McPhee? Goodbye Carey, your Michael Jackson TD dance will be missed. Goodbye Bumarr. You bum.
From what I understand, the Bears have absolutely no intentions of playing Trubisky. As you can see, the Bears are staffing players for a run heavy offense. They're protecting Glennon. Sanchez has been kept on the roster in case Glennon gets injured. They don't want to have to bring in Trubisky.
